This is the closest Gracie-Barra academy to my location which is > an hour north. Driving all the way down here is absolutely worth it, just to receive the phenomenal training this place provides. Having the opportunity to train from a bona-fide Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) coral belt is something many practitioners will never experience, but here, Master Marcio Simas takes BJJ training to a whole new level. His passion and knowledge encourages students to continuously strive to do their best, thereby leaving the mats better than when they arrived. I highly recommend this place!

I knew the moment I step foot at Gracie Barra Clermont that this was my home, and eventually my family for the last 5 years. I would not have been anywhere near where I am today in terms of my jiujitsu and personal development, if it wasn’t for the role models that teach, train and lead GB Clermont academy. Master Marcio Simas, Professor Thaddeus, Professor Busby, Professor Dave and many more outstanding Black belts have all contributed to the outstanding atmosphere at GB Clermont. I am in Clermont for business and dropped into a 6am class and like the others said, was treated like family. I am only 2 months into my jiu jitsu journey and had never trained outside of the gi and was shown a great deal of patience and helped immensely. If you are in the area and would like to learn jiu jitsu, I would absolutely recommend this school to begin your journey.

Great experience at Gracie Barra Clermont. I dropped in for 2 weeks while traveling and I was treated as one for their own. 6 am class was awesome. Joel and Chuck were outstanding professors. They are always up to roll with their students and their humility shined with their skill. The students were great competitors and a wonderful group to meet. To top it off the class ends with good convo and coffee. Then there was the night class with Professor Teddy who knows his stuff and Marcio the legend who couldn't be more humble. My wife and son attended the evening classes and they were top notch classes too. Thank you to the Gracia Barra family. Oos and semper fi.

I’m so grateful to have found this place and I encourage anyone who is shy, reserved or nervous about doing something crazy like learning the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to check out Gracie Barra Clermont. If you’re in the beginning of your search for martial arts schools, this is the place for you. Here’s why: I started a few months ago and was immediately impressed by the instructors’ patience and empathy towards me both as a new student and as a Muslim. As a Muslim woman, I can’t have physical contact with men which limits me to working with females only. Both the instructors and fellow students have been incredibly supportive, respectful and considerate every step of the way. It can be scary and overwhelming to know you’re the one asking for odd requests and exceptions, but everyone here has consistently made me feel normal. This has helped me to be more focused on learning and less focused on what other people might think. Somewhat tied to my point above, everyone is so encouraging. Being new, you know what you don’t know and this can make you feel awkward around more advanced folks but I can’t emphasize how much the students here root you on and are humble enough to learn from newer people. Lastly, I originally didn’t realize this school is actually part of a chain of schools which means that you can go to other locations if you’re traveling and far from your regular spot - I mean, in a completely different state! This is a huge bonus!! Anyway, give this location a try. You’ll see what I mean. Wishing you all the best wherever you wind up!

These guys are family, self-defense and competitions, they are awesome. I am on the family plan. Master Marcio is great, he does the real life no-gi self-defense that I live for. And my son won his first competition tournament and now my wife loves it. No egos, just great people and training.

When moving from NC to FL it was important for me to find a good bjj school. I was lucky and found so much more. I have team mates that welcomed me and help me to improve my skills. Also, I have an instructor that I truly respect and look up to. He may not know this, but I cosider Professor Dave Ogden one of my mentors on and off the mat. My son also trains bjj and I love that he is learning so much more than jiu jitsu. I feel confident that he too has instructors that are good roll models that he can look up to. I will be proud to one day call myself a Dave Ogden black belt. Thank you Ogden family for all you do for us.

Gracie Barra Clermont is a great place to train for everyone – whether you want to become a serious competitor, learn self defense, or even as a means to exercise and stay healthy. Professor Ogden has many years of experience and he works patiently with each student to help them progress. I have personally been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 10 years and now I am lucky enough to have my wife and 2 young kids training with me. It’s a great place for entire families to spend time together while learning and exercising.

Giving it four stars as of now because we want to give it another review after a couple of months. We enrolled our four and a half year old daughter after her first trial class today... We really like the no nonsense teaching style, and the very large and spacious training facility. In the tiny tots class, they were almost 25 to 30 toddlers, but the three coaches managed the class perfectly. Looking forward to making this a long-term learning experience for our daughter.. P.S. in January they have a promotion going on where they waive off the registration fee, go take advantage of the free trial class and see if you like it !
