I am a student at Gracie Barra Chesterfield, and I have nothing but positive things to say. The classes are always well-structured, and the instructors are highly knowledgeable and incredibly helpful with any questions you may have — all while being genuinely friendly. It’s more than just a place to train; it’s a welcoming community filled with wonderful people.

I absolutely love training at Chesterfield GB! The entire team is welcoming, supportive, and encouraging—no matter your experience level. I primarily attend the adult beginner classes, which are fantastic, but one of the standout highlights for me is the women’s class led by Alyssa. It’s always a popular session, and for good reason! It’s a fun, empowering way to meet new people, get a great workout, and learn valuable self-defense skills. I couldn’t recommend it more!

I've had about as good of an experience as possible while taking classes here. Kyle and Alyssa are excellent instructors, great at making everyone feel safe, welcome, and included. During class, they're very attentive and regularly give encouragement along with tips or advice. I've also been impressed with how sincerely friendly everyone is, going beyond just being polite or cordial. People here take a genuine interest in you which makes it a great place to build real friendships if you want. I would strongly recommend taking classes if someone was even a little bit interested in jujitsu (or even if they weren't).

I scheduled a trial class and decided to enrolled at the moment it was done. One class was all that took. The place has a really good atmosphere and everyone is welcoming. I’ll complete one month and feeling hungrier to learn day after day. If you are looking for a place to learn something new and enjoy the process, GB Chesterfield is right to you.

Professors Kyle W. and Alyssa C. have been incredibly strong components of GB in Missouri. From aggressive and successful competitive careers to coaching hundreds of people and enhancing their lives for the better through Jiu Jitsu and MMA in general. They are fun, powerful and make a difference.

This gym has a great atmosphere, it's newer and I feel that adds to the experience of learning together as a team. Everybody I've rolled with is polite knowledgeable and has a bit of a competitive spirit. I've trained at other Barra gyms and this one seems the most welcoming. I really get a lot out of every class.

I had the pleasure of training there during my travel for work. The team is very friendly and atmosphere is welcoming. The facility is very clean and accommodating. A great place to bring kids to learn the gentle art of jiu-jitsu. I look forward to coming back.

I'm writing this review for those parents whose children might not be the most athletic or have a "win at all costs" drive. Our son is just one of those students, and has been with Professor Kyle and Coach Alyssa since Gracie Barra Chesterfield opened. What he experiences there is an environment that is firm, fair, and caring. Kyle and Alyssa provide encouragement and a mindset of "I'm not going to let you think small about yourself." It's been great to see him engage and persevere. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu isn't for everyone, but if you are thinking about it and want to give it a try, I can't think of a better place than here.

I took my 8-year-old son here for a free trial class almost a year ago and neither of us knew what to expect. The first class went great -- he absolutely loved it and has been attending class (enthusiastically!) several times a week ever since. What makes this place great is the instructors. "Professor Kyle" and "Professor Alyssa" are both incredibly talented -- not only as BJJ artists but also as teachers. They do such an amazing job with the kids and juniors classes, somehow maintaining a balance between fun activities and productive hands-on technical work which keeps the kids engaged, challenged, but not overwhelmed. They're also very supportive and seem genuinely interested in their students' progress and well-being. If you're thinking about getting you kid(s) involved in BJJ or martial arts in general, I highly recommend checking this place out!

Gracie barra is definitely an enjoyable class for kids and adults to learn about self defence. My son is enjoying the class very much and doesn't want to miss any class. We are happy with the trainers and thank them for their efforts they put on every individual, training them and making them learn new techniques which helps my kid stay focused.

We are so impressed with the progress our son has made in only a few months. His confidence level, self control, and knowledge of proper self defense. Professor Kyle and Coach Alyssa are so patient with the kids, and also redirect them as needed to treat the children equally. We love it here, and can’t wait for our youngest to start.

The staff was very knowledgeable, helpful and very hands on. All skill levels and women of all ages attended. Great class! Highly recommend!

I've always wanted to participate in this sport and if I'm being completely honest I love it, and a lot of it has to do with the professors, coaches, and my fellow peers (students) that I get to roll with on a regular basis. Friendly, encouraging, and respectful environment. If you're interested I highly recommend coming out!

This school of martial arts (Brazilian Jiu Jitzu) has been amazing for my daughter, who is 7. Since her first class, she has loved it. She now goes 3-4 times per week and has been consistent since day 1 (about 6 months now). Professor Kyle and Coach Alyssa are great with the younger kids and older kids, as well. They show patience and re-direct when needed. There is always more than 1 instructor per class which allows the kids who need to move quicker versus those that need to move slower to move at their own paces. It seems like everyone gets some one-on-one instruction each class. The adult class appears quite popular too. My husband is planning to join soon. We love the atmosphere and the vibe is always upbeat. It's in a GREAT location, right off of 141 and Olive, and easy to get to. The class times work well for my kids, and our, schedules.

Coach Kyle and Coach Alyssa are absolutely amazing! They truly have a gift with kids. They are firm yet loving and patient. They do an incredible job instilling confidence, teaching a skill set that carries over beyond the classroom walls. They make class exciting and always make my son feel special. It’s an incredible place - do your child a favor and sign them up - also a useful course on anti-bullying which teaches really solid conflict solving skills.

My son has been training at Gracie Barra Chesterfield since its grand opening in March this year. Professor Kyle and Coach Alyssa are both excellent teachers and great with kids. Compared to other martial arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more practical in the sense that it teaches kids how to deal with bullies at school and stand up for themselves both physically and mentally.

I’ve only been to a few classes but I’ve already gotten so much out of them. Professor Kyle and the coaches do a great job pacing the classes so advanced students can excel and begin to master techniques while newer people have dedicated help and slow breakdowns of how to perform the techniques we are taught.

I’ve done MMA and BJJ for a few years so I like to think I have pretty high standards for where I take my kids to learn how to defend themselves, build mental and physical toughness. So I found Professor Kyle and coach Alyssa here, professor Kyle is a BJJ master technician and knows his stuff and how to teach it . Coach Alyssa is also very knowledgeable and is awesome help. They make it fun for the kids but never make it easy ! They push the kids to their full potential and keeps control of the class while everyone is having a great time . I can’t recommend this place enough ! The stuff the kids learn here will definitely help them defend themselves in all situations . A grab, a push , punch, a tackle …whatever, it's covered here. I know this location isn't open yet but I have had the pleasure of training with Professor Kyle for just over 2 1/2 years. As generally the oldest or one of the oldest on the mat it's great to see Kyle work. He has a great sense of humor and is amazing with both adults and kids alike. One of my favorite things about being part of the GB family is getting watch all my coaches and professors interact with different people from all walks of life and how amazing they are with everyone. I joined GB for fitness and have gained a new family and professor Kyle is a huge part of that. As sad as I am to lose Kyle at my primary training location, I'm excited for him to bring the brother(and sister)hood to a new area. Best of luck Kyle and to any prospective students you will not regret having Kyle as a professor. -Matt Revelle
