From the very first time I walked into Gracie Barra Burleigh, I was met with the utmost professionalism and warmth from the staff—an experience that remains unchanged even after two years. For anyone new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or considering enrolling their children, this academy is an exceptional choice. The training environment is welcoming and supportive, with a strong sense of community and mutual respect among all members. There is no presence of egos or undue pressure; instead, everyone encourages and supports one another throughout their training journey. The structured training sessions are thoughtfully designed to progressively develop skills, allowing practitioners to build proficiency in a clear and effective manner. I wholeheartedly recommend both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and this gym in particular, as it fosters a community atmosphere that has enabled me to forge many close friendships. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Professor Pedro, his wife Daisey, Professor Matheus and Coach Bryce. Their leadership and dedication are truly inspiring, and they serve as exemplary role models for everyone who trains here. I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to learn under their guidance.
Great atmosphere, really friendly environment, outstanding structure. Professors and students are very welcoming, makes you feel comfortable and part of the family. Would definitely recommend GB Burleigh Heads for everyone no matter what level you are or goals you wanna achieve!
As a 32 year old female , I never knew much of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Since casually stepping through those doors over 10 months ago, I was invited for my child to join the class. Then, I was invited to try the adults class. Long story short I am so greatful to have been apart of such a wonderful establishment, they are like a large family that have always been supportive, kind and accomodating and just become my happy place. I have never been made to feel uncomfortable or out of place ❤️ My physical limitations have disappeared, my fitness has improved 100x over They truely live the line "JiuJitsu is for everyone" 100% recommend this wonderful place Thankyou for everything See you guys around soon xoxo
I’ve always liked BJJ but struggled to fully commit in the past. I tried a few places over the years but never quite felt at home – until I found Gracie Barra Burleigh Heads at 44yo of age. From the very first class, the structured approach gave me a sense of accomplishment and made it easy to see my progress over time. Now, after a couple of years of training, I can truly say I enjoy every moment on the mats. I feel stronger, healthier, and more confident each day. What really sets this place apart is the environment – it’s welcoming, diverse, and open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Everyone leaves their ego at the door, and the sense of community is incredible. The coaches and professors go above and beyond to make sure each student feels supported and challenged at the right pace. Whether you’re just starting out or returning after a break, Gracie Barra Burleigh Heads creates the perfect space for growth and learning. If you’ve been thinking about trying BJJ – no matter your age – this is the place to do it. I can’t recommend Gracie Barra Burleigh Heads enough.
This is an interesting space with a high calibre of BJJ taught in traditional ways. The staff members, instructor and students are welcoming. The community aspect is a bit lacking, but overall everyone is friendly. Training had improved my health.
I wouldn't recommend.. they have kicked a 5 year old out with learning difficulties...and site safety as the reason... Disgusting. Discrimination of a 5 year old who loves being there. I would look around for other classes for your kids, it's 2025 and this sort of behaviour is not on
