  A nice clean academy, albeit small for the mat size. The staff and professor were very friendly. Look forward to trying there again. The whole team helps build one another as they should.

  Immediately felt like family when I walked in the doors! I train with a different organization but that didn't bother them in the slightest. Fantastic instruction not only one how to do the technique but also the principles for the situation. Looking forward to stop in again when I travel through the area!

  I could not recommend an academy more highly than Gracie Barra Birmingham. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, kind, patient and supportive. The clientele here is welcoming and it keeps you coming back each day. I will continue to train here for years to come.

  Been to a few lunch classes as a visitor from another gym. Classes are Great, coaching and training partners are top notch. Highly recommend to try if interested in grappling.

  Great environment to learn jiu jitsu! I appreciate how each coach not only has a passion for jiu jitsu, but they also care for me and all the other students as a person. The coaches pay great attention to safety, which is vital to be able to consistently train. I want to say more but there are too many good things to say. If your still reading this review you should come by and visit us!

  After trying a couple other BJJ gyms in Birmingham, my wife and I made GB Bham our new home away from home and we couldn't be happier. The quality of instruction is top notch and it really does feel like one big family. Note: The gym is in Avondale, with lots of food/drink options within walking distance. Huge perk in my opinion!

  This place has a family vibe with great curriculum and culture. The staff /owners here are a big part of what makes it so inviting and fun to learn. All ages and experience levels are welcome.   GBB truly fosters a sense of family and team. All the instructors are passionate and patient, and you get the sense they really care about you. The drive is contagious. I feel privileged to be able to train so closely with such knowledgeable instructors and dedicated students.

  Absolutely love this place! After slacking on working out forever and then 2020 happening, I needed something to get me moving and motivated. This was it. Everyone here, including the other students, is extremely welcoming and encouraging. If you're embarrassed about being out of shape like me, but want a wonderful environment to train in AND to learn jiu jitsu while you're at it, don't hesitate to check them out! I was shocked to find out the things I could do from the start and it's had such a positive impact on my mental health. Not least to mention how wonderful and kind our coaches/professors are.
