Golden Jiu Jitsu has truly been the best. The coaching here is truly exceptional— thoughtful, clear, and grounded in both skill and patience. What impressed me just as much as the technical instruction was the quality of the community. The environment is supportive, welcoming, and refreshingly free of ego or intimidation. As a girl walking into this space, I felt completely comfortable, welcomed, and respected from day one. I can’t recommend Golden Jiu Jitsu highly enough for anyone, regardless of experience or background, this is the place for anyone looking for a place to grow in both skill and mindset.

Four months ago I started looking into Jiu Jitsu for exercise, knowledge and self-preservation. Such a fun and challenging sport. Very happy I landed on Golden Jiu Jitsu. Their approach to training through games and exploration facilitates learning in a way that only makes sense. Grateful for the coaches, training partners and dogs that make this gym an awesome place to progress in.

Golden JJ is a great place to train! The culture of the gym is incredible with a strong emphasis on being playful which in turn facilitates a great atmosphere for efficient learning. Avery's personal commitment to the members is unrivaled and I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to learn from him as well as the other coaches.

Definitely the best gym I’ve tried in the Denver area. Everyone is super nice and helpful and the instruction is top notch. This gym puts a lot of effort into the quality of lessons and it shows. It’s also one of the cleanest gyms I’ve been to. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area.

I've had a great time starting jiu jitsu! As a beginner, the coaches—Avery, Noah, and Coach Teddy—made the transition incredibly smooth. Golden Jiu Jitsu is truly in a league of its own with the classes being built around playfulness. The coaches offer top-notch instruction while giving you the freedom to problem solve, so you can learn to navigate positions and develop your own style. It is apparent that all the coaches have a deep love for the sport. The community here is amazing. I can’t recommend Golden Jiu Jitsu enough—it’s an outstanding place to train!

Been training here for about 2 months now, and Golden Jiu Jitsu has a super friendly atmosphere with great training partners, a great learning environment with an emphasis on learning through experimentation and games, and some awesome coaches who are super friendly and helpful. Avery has done an amazing job at creating a helpful and welcoming atmosphere where beginners such as myself feel welcome and are able to learn and improve. Highly recommend!

Being 130pounds I was tired of going to other gyms as a white belt and being sat on for an hour. At golden all belt levels participate in training jujitsu not just leveraging weight during rolls and training moves. It's a welcoming environment with a prepared class structure

I have never had this much fun training jiu jitsu. Other gyms I've been to just do not compare to Golden JJ. The classes are structured around playfulness and a love for the game. The coaches give excellent instruction while letting you problem solve, encouraging you to work through positions and grow your game. Plus, the community is incredible. I cannot recommend Golden Jiu Jitsu highly enough--it is a fantastic gym.

Golden Jiu Jitsu offers both a welcoming community and top tier instruction. I joined GJJ as a beginner with no experience. From the first class, the members welcomed and helped me understand technical and communal aspects of jiu jitsu. Furthermore, the classes designed by Avery are phenomenal. Fundamental classes use positional games to work through common situations allowing us to improve our skills in a playful and safe environment. Whereas, advanced classes focus on the smaller detail of positions and submissions allowing us to gain an edge in technical sparring. Overall, Golden Jiu Jitsu is an excellent place to train and likely the best gym for beginners looking to improve quickly.

Visited Colorado for 5 weeks and decided to stop by Golden Jiu Jitsu with my step son (who has only done one class in the past). They did an excellent job teaching my step son the fundamentals and making sure he felt welcomed and safe. He met a few kids who were very nice to him and taught him things when he didn’t know what to do. The advanced class I went to was super informative and I learned a lot. Everyone was also welcoming and helped whenever I needed assistance or had any questions. Some really good BJJ taught here, and I’m appreciative of this academy for being great for us while we were in town!

I am a purple belt and I was visiting Golden and dropped in on a class at Golden Jiu Jitsu. Avery and company were very welcoming and helpful! I really enjoyed the instruction and community. If I’m visiting Golden, I’m getting some rolls in at Golden Jiu Jitsu. I’ll be back!

I've been a jiu jitsu practitioner for over 6 years, and I can safely say that this gym has some of the highest quality instruction that I've seen. The instructors emphasize what actually works at the highest levels of the sport, and give special focus on principles and positional games. It's a breath of fresh air compared to how I've been taught jiu jitsu at other gyms and at seminars, where the emphasis has always been on particular techniques, with the broader context of how the technique could be incorporated into one's game remaining an afterthought. Also, the facility is just really clean and tidy, and that's very nice.

This gym has a lot going for it. It's a very clean place, good mats and the best of all, good training with a knowledgeable coach. I dropped in and the drop in fee is awesome, $7 for 7 days. It's practically free for a week! If I lived in the area this is where I'd call home!

Brian and Avery are both highly skilled Jiujiteiros I’ve known Avery since he was a blue belt , Some people have tremendous physical talent but lack the understanding and knowledge of jiu jitsu theory and positioning- Avery has a unique ability to bridge the physical portion along with the mental aspect of BJJ which he is then able to convey and teach quite effectively- A very smart and talented instructor and I look forward to continuing learning from both of them.

I've been training Jiu Jitsu on and off for almost 4 years now from small schools to big franchises and nowhere compares to Golden Jiu Jitsu. I've never been anywhere where you get as much personalized instruction. The instructors meet you where you're at and give you suggestions for your style and skill level, there is no "one-size-fits-all" methodology or style of teaching. Lower belts are given opportunities to roll at realistic tempo and in realistic situations and scenarios, and I think that is a big part of why the white and blue belts at this school are at such an incredibly high level, probably comparable to blue and purple belts at other schools. Last but not least, the culture here is second to none. Everyone is welcome, everyone offers something different during a roll, there are no egos, and everyone is willing to help and offer advice. And the cost is super affordable compared to other places. I recently moved further away from Golden Jiu Jitsu and am a stone's throw from a different school, but I will gladly make the drive to keep going to Golden Jiu Jitsu. Best place to train in Colorado, bar none.

I heard a lot of great things about this gym so I decided to walk in and do an open mat with Avery and Brian. I'm 47 and have been doing jiu-jitsu on and off since 2007 (17 years). I'm still a brown belt but rolling with Avery and Brian makes me feel like a blue belt. These 2 are athletic, knowledgeable with entry's, and passes. Very good at leg locks and elevating me and that's not easy being 6'0 215 but they make it easy. I have learned a lot just by dropping in 1 time. I can't imagine how much I'll learn if I drop in more consistently. I also want to give them respect for taking care of me. I've had a lot of injuries over the years and I noticed they slowed the pace down for me so this "Old Bull" wouldn't get hurt. If you are in the Golden or surrounding areas, drop in and give it a try. Whether you are brand new or a veteran like myself, you will learn, get a good work out, and level up your jiu jitsu game by coming here. Avery is also a student of Steve Hordinsky at Katharo Training Center in Littleton, (who is my professor), so he teaches more about concepts then move to move to move and I like that. Highly recommend this Academy and try them out for a week for free. You'll love the people who train there, you'll love the culture and environment there, and you'll love how you feel once you are done with the class and walking out. Jiu Jitsu helps with confidence and mental health. If you need help with either, come in today or tomorrow and meet these 2. Golden Jiu jitsu has some of the best instructions in Colorado. Brian is a master submission artist and is great with people. Avery has been a technician at Jiu jitsu every since I met him. They are both great guys and some of my favorite people to roll with.

Golden Bjj is a great spot. As a student at Mines, the location is very convenient. The instructors, Avery and Bryan, provide a lot of personal training advice and are willing to show technique to a very high level of detail. Will certainly try to come back here as much as possible when I am visiting Golden! Highly recommended

As a brown belt with over 8 years of bjj experience, I can easily say that Golden Jiu Jitsu is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. It's so refreshing to find a place where the owners consistently go above and beyond to maintain engaging instruction and an excellent culture. Bryan and Avery are so good at meeting each student where they're at so that the classes and open mats are great for all skill levels. Whether this is your first time or thousandth time going to a gym, I would highly recommend checking out Golden Jiu Jistu.

Golden jiu jitsu is a great and extremely welcoming gym. They have a really cool spot just off the main strip of downtown Golden inside a yoga studio. The atmosphere Bryan and Avery have created is fun and one that cultivates learning. They have a unique teaching style that is really helpful for both beginners and people that have been around the sport. I brought my girlfriend here for her 2nd class ever and she had a blast. Check them out!

Bryan and Avery run this gym with intention. They provide top level coaching and all their lessons are planned. The mats are always cleaned after. Plenty of high level locals drop by the gym and sometimes provide a guest class. I really like the fact that there are mirrors at the gym so you can always see the instruction from many angles. You can also see how bad your jiu jitsu is and cry with those memories on your drive home. Both coaches provide personalized feedback and answer questions in detail. There is a class on Sundays at noon followed by an open mat available to the community. There is a reasonable drop in fee. If you train at a big gym and need some more customized feedback I highly recommend dropping by. Roll with Bryan or Avery and request an analysis. As someone who trains at a large gym with only nogi, it is nice to visit a more tight knit community in my pajamas. I think if you want to really develop your jiu jitsu fast in a safe environment then this is the gym to train at. The owners are also really kind and fun people which I personally find important. Ossssss

I found this place while visiting Golden for a wedding. Bryan(s) and Avery were very welcoming and helpful during the Sunday class and open mat - letting me borrow a gi when I came with nothing. Very chill, very good vibes. I wish there was more oxygen in the mountains but it's worth the view. 10/10 would roll again.

This is a hidden gem that I was lucky enough to stumble upon while visiting Golden Colorado. Golden Jiu Jitsu is a welcoming gym that has skilled teachers and a beautiful view. It may be a new gym, but the instructors are very knowledgable and overall good people (which is important). I am out here for vacation, and have now rearranged my girlfriend's entire vacation schedule just to get one more day of training at Golden JiuJitsu. It is always a gamble being a colored belt visiting other gyms, so I want to stress the friendly environment and good rolls Golden Jiu Jitsu offers. TLDR: I cannot recommend this place enough; If you are trying to find a bjj gym to train at (no matter the skill level), look no further.
