The Genesis Martial Arts Center at our West 13th location in Wichita, Kansas has dozens of weekly classes to keep you and your kids fit and ready to take on the world. All are welcome at our fun and inclusive MMA & BJJ classes.
Nick has set up a great jiu jitsu program. The culture is great and as a new student, I feel like everyone is interested in me getting better. The kickboxing classes are also ran very well. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and want all the students to succeed.
Been with this team for 3 years now and have loved it. Nick Barrens does such a great job creating a positive and motived culture in the gym. Come join the fun!
Both my boys attend classes and absolutely love all their coaches and peers. They have learned self discipline and it has boosted their confidence level so much. My kids have so much fun and enjoy this program 🙂
All the coaches here are excellent with the kids. They teach discipline, confidence, and great MMA skills. My daughter has grown into a great fighter under the coaching of Jessica, Trai, And Nick. I can't recommend them enough. Watching my daughter excel and have fun at the same time is the best feeling a parent can ask for.

The MMA instructors are top notch when it comes to expertise and working with the kids. We’re here 6 days a week and wish it were 7.
Our sons have been attending Jiu Jitsu classes here for the last year. They have both learned a lot and grown more confident as a result of their classes. We really appreciate Nick’s approach to teaching and his kindness and patience with all the kids. Highly recommend!

This gym has a fantastic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program for kids and adults! The kids classes teach skills for self-defense and competition. Adult classes cater to everyone, from those that just need physical activity and are tired of boring workout routines, to those wanting to compete. The coach, Nick, has done well to cultivate a community of students that help each other improve and are mindful of how to prevent harming their training partners. Nick is also a well versed practitioner who cares about the success of his students. As an added bonus, this school is connected to Fox Fitness and A-force BJJ, which provide extended opportunities to train with a large community of people through seminars and open gym sessions.

I've been a member of the Genesis Martial Arts program for over 10 years. I've trained Muay Thai, Mma, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I've fought, I've participated in top level competitions, and I've stood by others as others have done the same. I can honestly say that I have never experienced ANYTHING like the support I've gotten from my Coach and members of my team. Training here has seen me through so many personal and physical changes. I feel supported by my personal trainer who is now one of my dearest friends and training partners. Head Coach Nick Berens cares about his students. He wants you to excel on and off of the mats. Obviously he wants to see his students win but he wants to make sure we win outside of the gym as well. I've been fortunate to watch the program and culture change and grow over the years and I love the support we've created in our Jiu-Jitsu program. I can't wait to see what Trai, Felix, and Jessica do with the Kickboxing program. What I've seen so far has been positive, encouraging, and exciting for the future of Genesis Martial Arts. Great BJJ coach for both adults and children. Really takes the time to go over each move several times to ensure everyone is understanding. Several different Kick boxing coaches providing a wide variety of practice styles.
This is a good place for kids to learn deft defense and self confidence. Nic is tough but the kids love him.
There’s nothing I’d rather be doing with my nights than training with great coaches, great teammates and being able to see what I’m made of. I’ve been doing jui jitsu for 7 months now and have come so far. As I still have a long path ahead of me I am proud of my coach and teammates helping me achieve nothing but greatness. Needless to say I recommend all the opportunities that genesis martial arts has to offer!!

I’ve been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here for about 3 years and you couldn’t ask for a better program. Coach Nick Berens is extremely knowledgeable in the grappling arts and is a great teacher. The atmosphere is relaxed and anyone can feel comfortable here. Whether you’ve been training for years or it’s your first time stepping into the gym - you’ll feel welcome. If you’re looking to be a first-rate competitor, break into amateur fighting, trying to learn some practical self defense that works, or just want a fun way to exercise, this is the place to do it.

Ive trained at many gyms, trust me when I say this gym is THE one with Amazing people, class structure, workout and training spaces. Improved my striking and grappling game tenfold at least. This absolutely is the place to be; very safe yet will greatly improve you. No bad egos and will feel very comfortable for beginners.
Overall great experience training at this location, coaching is excellent, and pricing is fair with no contract. The black belt jiu jitsu coach has a legit lineage and a lot of experience.

The hardest part is showing up to your first class. My first class was almost 3 years ago and jiu jitsu is now my favorite way to exercise. I make it almost 3 times a week and I've always felt safe with my training partners. Everyone is there to make everyone better.
I've been doing martial arts here for the last 8-9 years.The instructors are excellent and the whole team really knows how to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. It's a laid back environment so anyone and everyone can come as they are. The kids program is fantastic and gives the kids a good base for self defense and discipline. Everyone MUST give this place a shot!!!
Great Jiu Jitsu and Muy Thai classes. My son started at eleven years old and three years later he still loves coming to classes. The instructors spend one on one time with each student and really help them to meet their potential. The classes will also attend tournaments as a team, which my son really enjoys. As an added bonus, my son’s confidence has improved tremendously. My son recently moved to the adult classes and he continues to improve and enjoy the training. I strongly recommend this gym for anyone of any age.
My 8-year-old has been having fun here, at kickboxing and jiu jitsu, since he was 5. It’s great! The Genesis martial arts kids learn confidence and do well at competitions, too.
