My son has been coming here since 6 years old, he’s now 11. The sessions are varied and engaging and the coaches are brilliant with the kids. Great way to improve general fitness or get them socialising with other children. Definitely recommend.
My child has been attending MMA classes for about 2 years now and absolutely loves it! The coaches are so good that I have just joined the women's only self defence class and wow...I am blown away! The group is so lovely and encouraging with skills of all levels. Would highly recommend to all!

A bunch of lovely people working and attending here. Enjoyed both regular and women's classes. Atmosphere here is always uplifting, staff are always ready to help. It's never mundane as classes vary from the previous ones
Love coming here! Recently returned after a break, started back in Coach Ash’s Women’s classes and not stopped buzzing since! Such a safe environment, no egos, no pressure, just a drive to see you do the best you can for yourself. This session with Coach Ash is a great place for women to come together, to support other women whatever journey you’re on, whatever reason you have for going and with support that continues between classes too! It’s a great addition to the FF club, led by the ISKA Elite Amateur English Champion!! 🥊 Can’t fault the memberships, and all the Coach’s are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, skilled and, most importantly, welcoming. Highly recommend this class and club to anyone looking for a fun and supportive space!
Function First Martial Arts and Fitness is an amazing place to train. The staff are welcoming, and the coaches are dedicated to ensuring you see maximum improvement. I was fortunate enough to train here for a UWCB fight, and I can say hands down it’s been a 10/10 experience. You truly step out feeling fitter, stronger, and much more confident than when you entered. 100% would recommend.
What can I say?! It’s Great training down function first amazing atmosphere. Really supportive coaches & very informative. When I had my fight ash was really good in my corner. Recommend anyone to take part in this event.
I for some reason unbeknown to myself signed up to do an UWCB match .. I genuinely thought I can’t do this but turned up for my first session at function first anyway to see what it’s about .. I walked through the door and genuinely don’t know if I was more scared of the fact I’m potentially getting smacked in the face at some point and could ruin my lashes or the fact I had to Be in a room for 8 weeks with a bunch of bare feet 🤢😂 All jokes aside the guys genuinely made me think actually maybe I can do this and week after week I’ve showed up not missed a single sesh and throughly enjoyed each one even on weeks I’ve really not wanted to be there , I’ve attended a couple of Ashs groups on Saturdays aswell and that girl knows her stuff and definitely took new things away with me .. Matt made a comment one session about how I seemed more confident in how I’d come along compared to week 2 and it’s really stuck with me and made me realise I had and how much I’m actually Enjoying it now. Dom,ash and Matt are amazing, infact all the staff are super friendly I’ve loved the training and am seriously thinking about staying on after Thankyou alll 🖤
Absolutely amazing experience training for UWCB. Massive thanks to Dom, Ash, Matt and the entire team for what they do! They have a incredible amount of knowledge that they are willing to pass on. If you want a challenge then I highly recommend taking on UWCB, it's a incredible feeling throughout the 8 weeks training and the buzz you get from stepping into the ring in front of your freinds and family is second to none. Even better feeling if your hand is raised on the day, but everyone who has trained is a winner just for making it through the 8 weeks. Special thanks for Dom for all his help throughout and on the day, couldn't have done it without him, top bloke! Can't wait for the next one!
My experience in boxing was limited prior to taking up an UWCB course at Function First, having done a year about 5 years ago! I really wasn't sure that I'd be able to do it, but it turns out I was able, and managed to make it through to the end no less. I'm proud of me, but I absolutely couldn't have done it without the support of the instructors at the gym. Both Dom and Ash have consistently shown a willing to teach and pass their knowledge. Despite us being a random bunch who they'll likely never see again in most cases, the attention and care put into the training is second to none for the time we have spent training, and I'll genuinely miss it now that the training side is done with. If you think you are fit, I urge you to go find out... Ultimately, Function First is a really nice gym that hosts training for an incredible event for people who want to see massive change and are willing to put the work in. Give it a go, you might surprise yourself! Thanks again to Ash, Dom and Matt for making it happen. It's been one hell of a journey regardless of what happens next!

As a 50+ year old complete newcomer I had an amazing time here learning boxing for 8 weeks as part of a UWCB event. (Ultra White Collar Boxing). Ash, Dom & Matt have a great teaching style and made me feel very welcome, like one of the Function First family. They've been training & competing for years and the knowledge & experience really shows. I've learnt a lot, made good friends and even got fitter in the process. As well as the twice weekly large group sessions, extra smaller training classes of just 8 people are available at weekends as well as 1 to 1 coaching. Thoroughly recommended - give them a call! 5 *

Absolutely fantastic place, my son used to come here too!! After training with Ash and Dom I'm definitely bringing my daughter here!! I appreciate everyone at function first for the hard work they put in to us lot in just 8 weeks you've helped us all raise money for our chosen charities by putting up with us all 😂 so again I'd like to say a MASSIVE thank you! And I hope to see you all again real soon!!

Great place, great people. Ash and Dom did such a good job coaching everyone including me for my white collar boxing fight. In the best shape of my life, feeling good and ready to perform. It’s the same place I began my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey as well, under the greatest of all time, Matt Frost 🥋 what a guy, what a team, will definitely be back even if it’s just to stare at Matts beautiful coloured hair

Great family friendly gym with great facilities. Coaches are knowledgeable and prioritise safety first. I've been training there for a couple of months and the support and guidance from the team has been amazing. Definitely worth speaking to the team and seeing which classes work for your needs. I highly recommend them for fitness and self defense training in a safe, professional environment.
