Passing through Monterey I was pleased to find Elite Team Jiu Jitsu and see that they offered Nogi classes. Coach Mark and his instructors were extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and friendly. I very much enjoyed the class structure and the ample time given for live rolling. Coach Mark even encouraged me to stick around for the following class, which I did, after which I was completely exhausted and had a smile that wouldn’t leave my face. Big thanks to Elite Team and everyone who made training such a blast!

Been to all the jiujitsu gyms in the area, and none have come close to Elite Team Monterey... only been at the gym a few months, and Mark (the owner) has bettered my game than years' worth anywhere else.. His coaching skills and the tough training partners are why I train here.

My entire family has trained at Elite Team. Whether you’re looking to put your kids in jiu jitsu or giving it a try for yourself you couldn’t pick a better place! The instruction and atmosphere are great! I would definitely recommend this gym, no matter your skill set.

I was in town for the IMSA race and needed a place to train. There are a few places to train in the area but this Gym has the fit and feel of my local Checkmat. Friendly environment with challenging roles. As a 49 year old I pick my partners carefully. I never felt any issues here, very controlled partners and I can tell the owner Mark cares about his training techniques and teaches control. If you are looking to get into Jiu Jitsu or need a place to role this is the place to go.

Awesome jiu jitsu academy, dropped in while visiting and Mark was very cool and welcoming. Had some great rolls everyone was very skilled and technical. Highly recommend!
Elite Team Monterey is AWESOME! I was visiting Monterey for business and reached out to Coach Mark to see if I could do a drop in. He said absolutely and was so welcoming. Upon arriving early at the gym, Coach Mark got to know me and was so friendly and excited for me to have a good session with his team. The Team there was fantastic. Everyone was so inviting, friendly, and super technical. I had so much fun and got a PHENOMENAL workout in. I can't recommend Elite Team Monterey enough and look forward to visiting Coach Mark and his Team again in the near future.

Best jiu jitsu instruction on the peninsula. Been learning from Mark for the better part of a decade, and the breadth and depth of his knowledge has no equal in Monterey. He's a life long student of the game, always studying and always finding ways to help his students troubleshoot problems. Better yet, he's a great person. He welcomes all comers. No drama - unlike some other places.
I love training at Elite. A great place to learn, train, and meet some dedicated athletes. As a newly returning white belt I love how Coach Mark, fellow coaches and members make this a great learning environment that is safe and full of positive vibes. I am also busy working mom and wife I love that they also offer a wide range of times to train so that I can fit it into my very full schedule. Also, a great complimentary sport for surfers. While waves can be unpredictable, ju jitsu classes are an option 7 days a week.

Elite Team Monterey is indeed the best place to train in town. Coach Mark is an amazing practioner. Everyone on the mats are amazingly good, constant competitors, but also humble teachers. The atmosphere is great for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. No better place to train!
Been training for about 6 years now and have been with an elite team for about a year. This gym has many great amenities such as weights, showers, water fill station. Mark works very hard to keep a clean gym environment for us. As for the jujitsu, it’s been one of the best places to train. The crew that trains here gives me many good rolls and is always pushing my abilities. Worth a membership or a drop-in.

Stayed for about a week in Seaside visiting family and I was blessed to be able to train with Mark at Elite almost every day I was there! I could tell he puts his heart into teaching jiu jitsu. Everyone there was so welcoming and I had amazing training and rolls! Highly recommend!

If you have been considering giving jiu-jitsu a try but have been putting it off, seriously, try this place. Marc is an incredible coach; he is patient and will make you feel welcome. The team is also made up of great, friendly people. Jiu-jitsu will do more than just teach you self-defense; you will be surprised how it benefits other parts of your life. Word of warning, though- you will likely get hooked and be that annoying person who only wants to talk about how awesome jiu-jitsu is.

I've been training regularly at Elite Team Monterey for well over three years now. It's a great gym and if you're at all interested in trying jiujitsu, you should check it out. Mark is an awesome instructor, whether you're a total beginner or have ten years experience on the mats. The vibe is open and friendly, the gym is clean, and the team grows stronger every day.
I was in town to see my family and figured I'd try to get some mat time away from my home gym on the East Coast. Coach Mark and everyone I trained/rolled with was incredible and super nice, and I learned a ton during the 10 days that I dropped in. I can't wait to come back and train at Elite Team Monterey next time I'm in town.

Excellent training environment which is evident by the overall skill level of those attending. Mark is incredibly knowledgeable, organized and professional as well as being very welcoming and motivational to new people. The loaded class schedule gives opportunities to individuals with tight schedules, and if you have more time available you could attend classes to your heart's content. Foundational skills are reinforced through drill and built upon with effective techniques in an easy to digest way. I've attended several gyms in the area and was blown away by the quality of Elite Team Monterey. Wether you are brand new to the sport or looking for a new gym, I highly recommend Elite Team Monterey.

I loved training in the mornings at this place. Great environment. Clean mats. Mark is a very skilled martial artist and I learned a lot both during formal instruction and rolling with him. I currently train at a Gracie Barra Brazil which is a lot of fun, but there are aspects of training at Elite Team that I miss. If you’re looking for BJJ in the Monterey area, I strongly recommend this place.
I made a mistake and tried the other BJJ gyms in Monterey before finding Elite Team. Lost a year of training, but after meeting Mark the owner, I finally found the best gym in town. Don't waste any time anywhere else. Go to Elite Team first and save yourself time and money.

Been training here for roughly a year and I can say that this gym has seen exponential growth and will continue to see this same growth under the direction of coach Mark. The main thing that first attracted me to this gym was the presence coach Mark made through the use of social media. When first arriving to the Monterey area, Elite Team was the only gym I felt like had any real info that was up to date. I gave Mark a call and he let me know everything that I needed to know in regards to beginning classes, how much the cost was, times they trained, etc. Every class follows a structure of about 15-30 minutes of warm ups followed up by 30-45 minutes of technique instruction and drilling. Upon completing the drilling sequences we begin rolling (live sparring). The greatest thing about the live rolls at this gym is that everything is "free" in a sense. A lot of gyms will not teach the concepts of leg locks or other "dangerous" techniques to white belts. Coach Mark will demonstrate the concepts behind these techniques and show why they are considered "dangerous" and if you were to be caught by these techniques, how to escape or diffuse these positions. This group is very tight knit and extremely welcoming to anyone and everyone. Just about every training session I see a new face and me as well as other members of the gym are happy to see new members or those who are just dropping in. Great gym! If you have ever thought about training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, stop thinking and call Mark. See you on the mats.

I've been training with Mark for almost nine months, bringing my total BJJ time to about four and a half years. First, the school is very welcoming and clean. No egos. Everyone is nice and that's a testament to Mark as a coach. His teaching style is great, typically a series of progressions that remain focused so you get many reps in of a similar move each night. I value that approach because it is focused. It also allows for students of all skills to work on something as his progressions often become increasingly intricate. The new guy can get down passing the guard while the more experienced student can cruise through that to the more detailed back take afterward. He's also very knowledgeable when it comes to recovery, flexibility, and strength/conditioning so he is able to encourage the most from his students. Great school, amazing instructor, highly recommended.

This place is the best brazilian jiu jitsu school for miles. No frills, with a progressive/adaptive approach. the kind of place most search for but never find. The instructor is one of the most passionate teachers ive ever come across. If your looking for great BJJ training, look no further.

Can't say enough about this place, I'm a beginner to jujitsu and was very hesitant about starting, but the instructor made me feel very comfortable and taught me at a pace that I was comfortable with, not to mention that the facility itself is awesome, super clean and inviting, can't wait for my next roll on the mat
