  I have been training Jiu Jitsu at Elite Martial Arts Academy for a little over a year. Mr and Mrs Shade are both great instructors - explaining each technique and movement in a way that is easy to understand. The environment is very welcoming and is great for families. When the time comes and they are old enough I will be bringing both my sons to learn from the Shades. If you have ever considered learning martial arts I couldn’t recommend this place more.

  We love Elite Martial Arts Academy! My son started in 2024 and has quickly grown in both skill and discipline. Mrs. Shade is a phenomenal instructor and has such a passion for everything she teaches. If you’re looking for a quality program, this is the place! A true gem in DeSoto county for kids and adults of all ages!

  We have loved Elite Martial Arts Academy from day one! From our very first moment we stepped foot in the door we were greeted with a smile and our son, who was 4 at the time, gravitated to Mrs Shade. We have seen major growth in his behavior, self control, manners and confidence in the past year and a half almost. We are so grateful for the Mrs Shade and her team and look forward to our other two kids to start as soon as they’re old enough. We absolutely love this program and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to set goals to accomplish with great expectations and high achievements.

  My son has been with Elite Martial Arts for a year now and he loves it. He has grown and learned so much from this program . Mrs. Shade is so patient and great with the students . Not only does she teach them the physical skills but she also instills listening skills, respect, morals and confidence in the students that they will use in everyday life skills.   We love Elite Martial Arts Academy! My sons turned 4 June of 2022 and we started right away. He has a lot of energy and needed an outlet for his energy but also needed to learn self control over his actions and emotions. Mrs Shade has been amazing with him from the very get go. She is firm but patient with all of her students. She finds value in each of her students and encourages them to be their very best. We look forward to the day when all our family members begin our journey to our own black belt. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a program for their young kinds, the Little Dragons is where it’s at.

  I started with these instructors when I was seven years old and they made a tremendous impact on my life. They have not only taught martial arts but they have also taught me discipline and self control. They have also allowed me to become a part time instructor, teaching these strong and diligent children the principals they will need for life.I strongly recommend Elite Martial Arts Academy for your child as it will be an enormous experience for their well being.

  Mr. And Mrs. Shade do a fantastic job with the kids BJJ and the adult jiujitsu class. It’s my first time taking any martial arts and they have made us feel welcome. They have so much knowledge on BJJ and taekwondo. It’s a family friendly atmosphere, which is very important to our family.

  A month ago we were reading reviews and looking for a BJJ school for our family of four. After visiting several schools in the area, we decided on Elite Martial Art Academy with Mr and Mrs Shade. After a few weeks of training we could not be happier or more excited about the school we chose. Firstly, the people we have been able to work with are top notch. Imagine a bunch of friends getting together to practice something they really enjoy. The instructors are professionals and it shows in their work ethic, their classes, their senior students, and their school. They provide step by step instructions that apply to veterans and new people and everyone works together to improve. As parents, we wanted a family friendly school. Elite Martial Arts has become the place our kids are excited to go… excited to learn a new move, excited to see their friends. If you’re looking for a martial arts school, stop looking and come to the next class.

  Totally awesome experience for my 7-year-old son!!!! His discipline, flexibility, and cognition has been improving by leaps and bounds each week. JuJitsu and Taekwondo have been more awesome than words can describe. Also, it’s a great social atmosphere for my son as well.

  I've taken Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Taekwondo under the main Instructors here. They are great, from kids to teens and adults, they teach excellent self-defense classes and fitness! If you are looking for awesome martial arts, I recommend to go here.

  My son and I both trained with Mr and Mrs Shade many years ago. My son Gerald earned his third degree before going to college and I earned my second degree before moving to Louisiana. I could not recommend a better opportunity for anyone interested in martial arts. Very fond memories!!!

  Mr. and Mrs. Shade are the best instructors I have met for both youth and adult. If you want someone who is truly passionate about what they do, this is the school. From a young age these 2 instilled integrity, discipline, honor, and respect into me. I have since moved away and taken up a new gym where I do not feel the sense of connection and values at like I did with them. If you want the best, Elite is it.

  Tried out a few of the adult BJJ classes and enrolled for the 12mo program. I’ve greatly enjoyed it. One of the instructors is female, so for a girl, it’s easier to get introduced and gain confidence. Classes are casual, instructors are helpful and easy to talk to, and the more experienced students are always eager to help out. Especially for women, this is a great experience.

They have a way of making a place like this feel like home, while also providing a fun and informative atmosphere for their students! I earned my 3rd degree black belt through the shades, and would absolutely encourage anyone else to do the same!

  I’ve trained with the Shades in Jiujitsu classes under them for years in the past and have enjoyed every minute on the mats. Also my kids have trained in the kids classes too. I’d highly recommend going to this Jiujitsu school.
