My daughter has been taking martial arts here for the last 6 months, and is about to turn five. It's been such a solid experience, our son, who's about to turn four, will now be taking classes as well. I'm also currently taking classes and can appreciate the quality of the training, as well as the facility. Both Sifu Ed and Sifu JoAnn have been class acts... It's a great family environment and we're eagerly looking forward to continuing our journey here.
Posted 11 months agoTruly an incredible place! I have seen the growth in both myself and my son. At Ekata, we are able to not only strengthen our bodies but our minds. Mindfulness, discipline, and calm allows for us to show up in other areas of our lives as our best selves. You will be challenged at Ekata. You will learn techniques that the body will have to adjust to at Ekata. You will be surprised with how much you have accomplished at Ekata. You will be better for it. Thank you Ekata for changing our lives.
Posted 1 year agoEkata Martial Arts is an amazing school for both kids and adults! I took an adult Muay Thai class and absolutely loved it. The energy, the instruction, and the overall atmosphere were top notch. The coaches are super knowledgeable, supportive, and really make sure everyone is learning and progressing, no matter their experience level. It’s also a fantastic place for kids. The way they teach discipline, confidence, and respect while still keeping the classes fun is really impressive. You can tell they truly care about each student. If you’re interested in martial arts, whether for yourself or your kids, I highly recommend checking out Ekata. You won’t regret it!
Posted 1 year agoI can’t say enough great things about Ekata Training Center. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. The trainers are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also deeply passionate about helping you reach your goals—whether it’s fitness, martial arts, or mindfulness. The blend of physical training with mental discipline is truly unique and sets Ekata apart from any other gym I’ve tried. The facility is spotless and the energy is positive. I’ve gained strength, confidence, and a sense of balance in my life thanks to their holistic approach. Highly recommend to anyone looking to improve not just their body, but their overall well-being.
Posted 1 year agoEkata is a wonderful place for kids and the entire family to train, learn and grow. My son has been there for two years and I have been there for a year and my wife has attended classes there as well. It has an incredibly positive and supportive atmosphere which is promoted not just by the staff, but by the families that go there as well. They have a great after school program, a multitude of kids, teen and adult classes, including Jeet Kune Do, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muy Thai, Savate (with a competition team), Meditation, Yoga and Weapons classes. The staff there is amazing and always willing to help the kids, teens and adults learn. Sifu Ed is one of the nicest and easiest to get along with people I have ever met and is always wonderful with the parents and kids. We have never had an issue with any of the staff the entire time we have been there. There are a lot of safety measures and rules there to help keep the kids and adults safe - in the gym, locker rooms, classes, and the after school program. “Karens” tend to forget that they are “Karens” and when they meet folks who are there to help instill respect, self discipline and kindness into others, being a “Karen” usually does not go over well.
When i joined ekata and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The facility is clean and well-maintained, with a great variety of equipment that caters to all fitness levels. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help answer questions. I really Enjoy coming here every chance i get.
This is more than a gym. I mean, if you want pristinely kept equipment and access to expert trainers, Ekata is the best of the best. But there's so much more to offer from some of the most renowned martial arts teachers in the world to meditation classes to child care and so many other programs. Ekata is a wonderful resource for our overall health for the body and the mind!
My children both go here for the after school program and for their camps for summer, winter and spring. They're always treated with respect and they love it. They get to learn important self defense as well homework help. They've made great friends there and always have a wonderful time.
Ekata Training Center is a fantastic facility that offers a wide range of training programs designed to help individuals improve their physical fitness and overall well-being. The center has a great reputation in the local community for providing high-quality training programs that are both effective and enjoyable. One of the things that I appreciate most about Ekata Training Center is the variety of training programs that they offer. From kickboxing and martial arts to yoga and strength training, there is truly something for everyone here. No matter what your fitness level or goals may be, you are sure to find a program that suits your needs at Ekata. In addition to the excellent training programs, the staff at Ekata Training Center is also top-notch. They are highly knowledgeable and experienced, and they go out of their way to ensure that each client receives personalized attention and guidance. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a beginner, the staff at Ekata will make you feel welcome and supported every step of the way. Overall, I highly recommend Ekata Training Center to anyone looking to improve their fitness and overall health. The facility is clean, modern, and well-equipped, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to helping you reach your goals. If you are looking for a place to train that will challenge and inspire you, look no further than Ekata Training Center!
I have been practicing meditation and JKD martial arts at Ekata for several years. The training I received from Ekata has improved my stamina both physical and mental. I found myself having less mind chatter and can stay focus at ease under stressful situation. I look forward to the meditation class in the morning to loosen up tension and negative fixation. The JKD class is a good workout and I learn how to protect myself and sharpen my cognitive function. Join us and give it a try!
Sifu Ed, Sifu JoAnn, Sifu Michael, and the rest of the instructors are some of the most welcoming and knowledgeable people. I’ve been attending Ekata since 2017 and I appreciate their emphasis on mindfulness and nurturing the body through more than just physical activity. No matter your goals, whether they be physical, mental, or spiritual you will have a place here!
Sifu Ed and Joanne are amazing! Best whole life training you can find in LA. Whether training in martial arts, learning meditation, or just wanting a clean gym, this place has it all! Love the staff and the familial feeling you have here. Highly recommend!!!
Ekata Training Center is by far the nicest gym I ever went to. The facility has nice equipment but that's not the best part. Every instructor I worked with was outstanding in their own way. The last workout blew out my fitbit. ;) The workouts are functionally correct and the martial application is no BS. I have seen every fitness level and martial background work side by side to get better. After my last car accident I thought I was done with martial arts but within a few weeks of working out at Ekata I got the rehabilitation I needed and no move and feel almost as good as I did before the car wreck and a full year of no exercise at all. Please disregard some of the sad competitors attempts to discredit Ekata. Go for one class, any class, tour the facility, meet the people, then see if you don't feel the same way I do about Ekata.
Ekata is a place where you train your mind, your spirit, your soul, to align with your physical body. It is a life changing experience that has helped me overcome obstacles both physical and spiritual.
Our family has been members for 3 years now. And I couldn’t be happier with the level of care, top-notch instruction and atmosphere of Ekata. The instructors have taken a genuine concern for my sons character development, not only their martial arts. I love the family atmosphere that is wholesome and warm. This is our home away from home.
I am still pretty new to Ekata but so far this is by far the best gym I have ever been to. I have nothing bad to say about this place. The facility is beautiful, very clean and has a spa like relaxing atmosphere. The owner Sifu Ed is so warm, personable and easy to talk to. He makes you feel extra comfortable with asking any questions you may have and will walk you easily through the process of getting set up with your membership. The main class I've been taking is Muay Thai Kick boxing with Samantha who is awesome. She gives you such a good workout while also being very detailed and helpful with figuring out the moves and proper form. I haven't taken all of the classes yet but they offer many and I look forward to checking them out as soon as I can, especially Kettlebells and Zumba.
The Best training, health and martial arts facility and trainers team in Santa Clarita. Ekata approaches fitness and health not only from the body point of view but from a holistic mindful approach of body and mind including eating habits. They offer programs for children as young as 5 including after school activities, and obviously programs for adults too, all designed appropriately to each individual. I've been training at Ekata for a year and If someone would have asked me before I would be doing martial arts now almost every day, I wouldn't have believe it. I've never been in better shape than now, and I was going to a regular gym before. My son joined 2 1/2 years ago and he's not only doing great in his physical abilities, but his attitude and social skills have improved a lot. Members can take many classes and programs available including martial arts which is not only Jet Kune Do (JKD) but also Savate, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Boxing and some others incorporated into JKD like Wing Chun and self defense techniques. I couldn't be happier with my progress in terms of endurance, fitness and physical abilities. I recommend Ekata to anyone that really want to improve their health and physical condition.
Awesome place overall for mind, body, and soul! Great staff and members, too!
We switched from another martial art/after school program in Santa Clarita and we love Ekata. I love healthy snacks program and the classes offer. Staffs and instructors are very nice and knowledgeable. On top of everything, no extra charge for camp on no school day and no belt testing fee makes I love Ekata even more.
My 10-year old daughter had feet issues when she was little, so, she only did swimming and horse riding for physical activities for several years. She started going to Ekata a couple of months ago and they have been very kind and patient with her, as she learns how to properly perform several physical activities that she has never done before. She currently does Hip-Hop and Jeet Kune Do. She loves going! If we could go everyday, we would. Unfortunately, we live quite a distance from the facility.
Ekata is exactly what I needed. I left another local gym because I was ready to take my fitness to the next level. I needed more than just a weight set and a bubbly instructor bouncing around and telling me to breathe. I needed a complete mind and body tune-up and Ekata offers that. Mindfulness, arts (dance, singing, etc), martial disciplines, kettlebells. Anything you could possibly want to become a well-rounded and peaceful individual. I love it.
I love Ekata. More so, I love the way I feel after a class. Sifu Ed is such a blessing & I am so happy to be able to come here. All the instructors are amazing but what I like the most, are the other members. Everyone is so personable and welcoming. It doesn't even feel like a gym, it's more of a community. The minute you walk in the door, you feel at ease. Some places feel overwhelming & you're just a number; not at Ekata. Here, you are greeted personally with a smile, sometimes a hug & when they ask how you are, it's truly genuine. This place is amazing. Classes for kids & adults, after school programs, nutrition counseling, personal training, massage, yoga, JKD, Muay Thai, one of the best Zumba classes ever and more. I definitely recommend the meditation class with Sifu Ed, learning mindfulness & what meditation can bring to your life is so beneficial. I look forward to my workouts now because of Ekata. I highly suggest you check it out!
Wonderful training, equipment and atmosphere! My wife and I joined Ekata this year and have already benefited from intense fitness classes and JKD martial arts training. Though we are new at some of this, the instructors and other participants have been super patient and helpful. Plus, there is a mindfullness aspect to the training that extends to our life outside of the exercise programs. Totally first rate and the owners are generous in providing their time and insights to help their clients.
Top notch establishment, everything they do is well thought out and done with genuine care and professionalism. They are the best of the best.
Amazing place for fitness, fun and friendship!! Learning marital arts is super empowering especially for women! Ekata has a variety of classes and activities for everyone. It's wonderful for a family to all participate and practice mindfulness.
By far the best gym, martial arts classes, and training facility in town. I've been going here since May, and absolutely love it! Brand new, clean, high end fitness equipment.. beautiful interior design, and a State of the art body composition testing machine. I really enjoy their focus on Mindfulness. From their meditation room, to the way they structure their classes. Love it, and will continue to come here for a long time! :) PS There are a LOT of different classes and services here.. different martial arts, yoga, Aerial Silks, voice lessons, and massage rooms. A truly well rounded facility!
A very special place in the heart of Santa Clarita. My sons ages 8, 9 & 13 have been training Jeet Kune Do martial arts here for about a year and a half and I have seen a tremendous change in their level of confidence and initiative as a whole. The classes reinforce what my husband and I try to instill in them at home...respect, focus, a sense of pride in everything they do, being active and overall being better versions of themselves in life. At Ekata, they train hard and give them tools to create a lifestyle that will carry on with them forever. I see families who train marital arts here and take their lives a step further by nourishing their bodies through the many guided fitness activities offered and through mindful meditation. We practice meditation at home and to see it as an integral part here is a blessing. Ekata is beyond the common gyms and training centers you see around. It really is a facility that focuses on centering yourself and grows into an extended family. Ekata encourages the mind to break through blocks and overcome limitations, slow down and breathe and be in the moment. Learning martial arts is the skill, but the life skills here is priceless. If there ever was a place to become a part of, this is it. For your children. For yourself.
This training center is set up for total wellness of Mind, Body and Spirit. It's the best kept secret in Santa Clarita.
Its a great family friendly place to workout, take classes or even get a message. My wife and I feel like we are part of a family there. Martial Arts, Yoga, Zumba, Meditation for all age groups I highly recommend it.
Love the mentality of everyone at this gym and the staff is always welcoming. A great place to learn and improve both body and mind.
Awesome facility. The staff is very attentive and helpful to everyone. So many different disciplines are not only offered but taught well. And I love that Ed knows, has lived, and believes what he teaches.
Everyone there is super nice and very welcoming! Definitely would recommend to everyone! Its great for kids, teens and adults. 😊
Well rounded positive gym with a dedication to help people balance their lives. Thank you Sifu Ed
A very nice option, especially if you have more than one kid. I have one child that is timid and she is growing in confidence. I have one that is feisty and she is learning to channel that. The instructors picked up on those dispositions right away, and they are very into a mindful approach. I love that they have a room dedicated to meditation that is able to be used by members or parents. One of my favorite parts is that there is something that sets this place aside from other martial arts places in all of Santa Clarita. There is a gym in the waiting area! No excuses. You have to work out and see your child at the same time. It's perfect.

This place is just ok. UFC gym in Canyon Country is much better. Better instructors.
This star isn't about the quality of the facility. It's about the owner Ed. Ed will only do what he wants and disregard parental concern. I witnessed multiple times where he talked down to staff and students. Unfortunately it drove the staff to quit and parents like ourselves to go elsewhere. What a shame. The staff and kids don't deserve to be treated with disrespect. Ed should be a silent owner and let a real manager run the business. Update based on owners response: Clearly validating what I said. I am a parent who pulled my kid from your facility and you happily refunded us to go elsewhere. You were met with our concerns and instead of correcting them you said if we don't like it to go elsewhere. Like I said previously, stay silent and hire someone who knows how to manage.
Our daughter attended the after school program at Ekata from 2021-2022. Despite this being a post COVID pandemic chaotic time period the staff did an amazing job tending to the children. Sadly in a very short time period all the great staff decided to quit. Staff turnover rate was very high. Unfortunately this place seemed to be a very toxic/ hostile work environment for the staff. The owners were hands on in the day to day operations. Edward Monaghan was a bully. He constantly berated/ humiliated the staff in front of everyone and he also disrespected the parents and children. I know this because he bullied me and my husband publicly right in the waiting area lobby. It's an unsafe environment for the children especially when the staff turnover rate was extremely high and they made the children share bathrooms/showers/lockers room with all the adults that come in to exercise! Security was very lax and lousy. All the daycare doors were unlocked at all times so anyone can come in to grab their children. Highly not recommended if you value your children's safety and security.
