Eidson is a great place to learn both Judo and Jiujitsu. Place is beginner friendly and the higher belts spends quality time on helping me improve on fundamentals. My whole family (4 year old, 6 year old, me and husband) all practice at Eidson. We first enrolled our daughter for self defense purposes at school. She was able to use what she learned to overcome a bully. I can’t say enough nice things about Sensei Andrew and Paulo. These guys are the real deal and we look forward to building grit, resilience and technique in Judo and Jiujitsu at Eidson.

The perfect outlet for our sensory-seeking kiddo! Our son tends to hop from hobby to hobby, losing interest after a class or two. We started at Eidson BJJ with 2-3 classes a week, and when summer arrived, our son asked if he could come every day! He was sad to learn they're closed on Sundays, but happy to come train six days a week. Not only is he learning great skills and techniques in jiu-jitsu and judo, but he's also making wonderful friendships. The senseis strike the perfect balance between focusing on training so the students advance and meeting kids where they're at. My son wants to practice on me at home, and with how welcoming and great everyone is, I'm tempted to sign up for the adult classes! I highly recommend Eidson BJJ for your family's jiu-jitsu and judo academy!

This place is great! We've been comining here for a couple years now. It has helped both of my children with confidence, strength and physical ability. There are many high level instructors and the main Sensei, Andrew is warm, friendly and also disciplined. Jiu jitsu is the real thing... There are no pointless moves. My kids love it, and they're pretty tough now too.

My kids LOVE Eidson BJJ. We tried several places in the area before we decided to sign up here. The instructors are so patient and kind with my boys ages five, 11, and 13. They separate classes by age and have multiple classes each week with plenty of instructors. In class they begin with warm-ups, demonstrate moves, and give everyone a chance to practice what they have learned. Everyone who attends class is really nice and it has been a pleasure watching my children gain confidence, strength, and discipline. Highly recommend!

I’ve been with Eidson BJJ for just over a year. The experience has been great. As most white belts are, I was very apprehensive to start. Joining a new martial art at 42 is a bit intimidating. They have beginner classes and the higher belts were willing to work with me at my pace. The coaches are fantastic. Don’t let fear keep you from a great workout a very useful defensive skill.

My son has been attending the 4-6 year old class for the past few months and so far our experience has been very positive. My son struggles with focusing and the instructors/sensei have been very good about keeping him engaged. They have been very patient and caring which my husband and I truly appreciate. Bringing our son to this academy makes us feel that we belong to a community. There is a strong sense of family here which you don’t get at many places. My family gives Eidson Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 5 stars for this reason.

My kids have been going to this dojo for about two years now and I don't see them stopping any time soon. Sensei Andrew and his staff is amazing. Small business run by the family (wife runs the desk and kids help teach)! What more can you want?! My kids have learned so much by attending classes here and definitely have a confidence boost as well. Highly recommend to anyone in the area thinking about learning martials arts!

Fantastic family environment! The kids program is outstanding and constantly growing. The adult program is friendly and welcoming. Egos are left at the door. The mats are always clean as well. You can tell Sensei Andrew cares a lot about each of his students and wants everyone of them to succeed on and off the mat! I'd recommend giving Eidson BJJ a try if you are looking for any one of the qualities I've listed above in BJJ dojo.

I started jiu jitsu with Professor Eidson over 5 years ago and was only able to train for a month before moving. About 2 years later, I came back and sent him a text expressing my interest in returning to training. To my surprise he still remembered exactly who I was and welcomed me back like an old friend. I can't say enough good things about the healthy energy of this place and the wealth of knowledge that is on the mats at every class. I always recommend this gym to anyone looking to start jiu jitsu in the San Diego area, and especially to parents who want to get their kids into something that will positively affect their confidence and work ethic for the rest of their lives. The mats are always impeccably clean and there are often world class black belts who stop by to train and teach around the times of big tournaments. Lastly, 4sbjj probably has the most doctors out of any gym i've ever been to for some reason

Let me start off by saying 4s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is truly an amazing dojo to learn the art of BJJ and train your body into an athletic machine. Prior to coming here I had no martial arts experience and was worried I wouldn’t be able to overcome the learning curve. After one training session with Sensei Andrew I was totally hooked! To break down why this place deserves 5/5 stars you have to look at each aspect. The Instructors: Every instructor has a unique teaching style that really helps you understand the different moves of BJJ, both simple and complex. Sensei Andrew also keeps a close eye on each of his student’s development and makes sure if they are struggling with moves during rolling/sparring sessions, they are given extra training in the fundamentals group the next day. Other instructors will focus on conditioning while others will focus on more complex moves involving a series of preparatory steps. Sensei Will also offers a “No Gi” class and incorporates a lot of compound athletic movements which really helps with stability and recovery. With so many different perspectives you learn a ton of moves and skills in a very short time. The Students: Your fellow students are all very welcoming and eager to help newcomers become proficient. When I first started, I was making numerous errors and continually being trapped. Every time I would make a mistake the person I was rolling with would let me know how I could improve and allow me to practice for a short time between rolls in order to become better. After 5 months of training I can definitely see a difference in my technique, thought process and my own ability to help other new students. It really is like a family and even though the learning curve is very steep, you still have a great time learning. The Location: There is always ample parking in the area even though it is busy. Either during the day or evening you can always find a parking spot that is well lit. In summary, 4s Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu is a really amazing place to learn and grow your martial arts skills. I highly recommend anyone who has an interest in the sport to check it out and give it a try! You will surely grow mentally, physically and spiritually during your training sessions. As an added bonus you will experience a great amount of stress relief from your day to day troubles since you will be more worried about the sparring partner causing you to submit than other things! I’ve never had so much fun in my life as I have here.

Jiu Jitsu ended up being the best activity / sport my kids have ever tried. My son is 8 and when we first moved to del sur from poway he was having trouble making friends. After 6 months in the 4s BJJ kids program his confidence (and skill) has blossomed and he is a much happier kid as a result. I started going to 4S Brazilian Jitsu a couple years ago when I moved to North San Diego Area and was looking for a self defense program in the Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Mountain, Poway, 4S Ranch area (92127). I wanted to learn self defense for women more than I wanted to get good at MMA. This school went above and beyond my expectations of a wanting a fun, safe, friendly, educational, fitness-based community and is all the above and then some! :) I am happy to say that Im approaching my third year now at the school and would absolutely recommend their programs to both adults & kids, men & women.

I looked for jiu jitsu in carmel mountain, rancho bernardo, poway all the way up to escondido. I didnt find a jiu jitsu school i felt at home with until meeting Andrew Eidson and his team at 4s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Can't speak highly enough about the enviornment and black belt instruction.

I recently moved to San Diego, in particular 4s Ranch. My kid has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since he could walk, but was by far the youngest and smallest kid at our martial arts school back in Utah. Obviously this requires special attention and a healthy community approach to teaching BJJ. After trying a few schools around the 4s ranch area that were less kid friendly, I was fortunate enough to meet head instructor Andrew Eidson and the amazing martial arts community that they have built right in the heart of 4s ranch. My son and I could not be happier with the attentiveness and 1 on 1 high level bjj instruction they have provided for my family. As soon as I am going to get a break from work I think I will start training along with my son.
