Great experience at this gym. I was vacationing in LV the 1st week of Oct. I contacted the gym a few days prior. Excellent communication from them. I was greeted at the front desk by Professor Hector at 10am class. His class was excellent and I felt welcomed by everybody. I will be back the next time I am in LV.

I had an amazing experience at Cobrinha Las Vegas. Professor Hector was incredibly friendly and welcoming, even though we had just met. He went out of his way to give us valuable tips during our camp for the World Masters, which made a huge difference. The training environment here is top-notch—safe training partners, a lot of fun, and high-level jiujitsu. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to train in a positive and supportive atmosphere. This should convey your appreciation and positive experience at the academy.

I recently had the opportunity to train at Cobrinha for myself and for my 6 and 4 year olds. As someone who has visited several jiu jitsu gyms, I was eager to see how this one compared. The facilities at Cobrinha are top notch. The mats are clean and well-maintained, providing a safe environment for training. Professor Hector leads most of the classes and has a unique ability to break down complex techniques into easily understandable steps. The attention to detail and personalized feedback make each class highly valuable. The class structure is well-organized, with a variety of classes available for all skill levels. There are beginner classes that focus on fundamentals, advanced classes for more experienced practitioners. And open mat sessions for sparring. They provide both morning and evening classes for adults and kids. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by both the staff and fellow students. The son and daughter at first were scared but the other kids definitely helped them out. Overall, it’s safe to say this is our home now and I would recommend this gym to any one looking to learn self-defense, compete or build a friendship.

Without a doubt, this BJJ school stands out as one of the finest in our area. Over the past year, both my son and I have been learning here, and the impact on our lives has been undeniably positive. Led by Professor Hector and team of instructors who embody strong values, this place exudes a vibrant sense of community and respect. Through training, my son not only learns discipline but also develops problem-solving abilities, mental resilience that will extend to various aspects of his life. For me, working in the mechanical engineering field, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has proven very beneficial, for It constantly challenges me to find solutions under pressure. Moreover, it serves as a form of meditation, stress relief, and excellent physical exercise, all while fostering a deep sense of belonging within our community. Undoubtedly, this place has brought a remarkably transformative experience for me, and I hope it has been the same for my son, though I can only speak from my own perspective. As a parent, I can clearly observe the profoundly positive impact this place has had on my son.

I came to this gym with my daughter after our old gym couldn’t provide consistent instructors or times. That gym suggested cobrinha thinking I wouldn't come. Man am I so glad I came. 3 times a day for adults. You have times for 3-5 year olds, another for 5 and up, what more could you ask for. You’re not treated as a customer here but family, because this place is a FAMILY! No one here that trains is ego driven. It’s my happy place

My Daughter started here at 5 years old and my son at 3, it is the perfect environment for youth to gain discipline, learn structure and have the confidence to believe in themselves. Most importantly, they will know how to defend themselves if the situation ever arises. I joined the adult class shortly after, Professor Hector is teaching the kids and adults classes 6 days a week and is invested in his students becoming better martial artists and people. Life changing if you step in the doors, buy in and stay committed.

This place is amazing! It’s a true family environment in there and it is my second home. Besides myself, my wife and son train there and we have always been extremely happy there. Not sure what the other dude was talking about, but it sounds like he showed up to an advanced no gi class and didn’t tell anyone he was brand new. Not the gym’s fault.

Professor Hector and his team are truly remarkable. They welcome everyone who is willing to learn the craft. I'm a 40 year old with no combat sports experience. The last 3 weeks at Cobrinha have been some of the most fulfilling work I've done since I started playing hockey almost 30 years ago. This is not just a gym, it's a community built on great values. I love it, and I'm so grateful to be over there training under such instructors.

The level of instruction at this academy is unparalleled. Professor Hector and his staff do a phenomenal job at keeping this place clean, safe and conducive to learning the art. At my first class session, I was formally greeted by everyone at the gym with a warm handshake. I was immediately partnered with a brown belt so that during the drills my partner could explain exactly what I was doing (how to apply pressure, obtain body position and proper technique). During rolls (sparring), Professor Hector and his staff ensured that the students were applying correct techniques that were effective, but to not cause the person to get injured. This was my biggest concern as I had gone to a different gym one month prior and walked away with several injuries. This is definitely not the case here. If you enjoy a classroom like setting where you can gain mad BJJ skills and a ton of friends... then this is the place for you.

My son loves it and has a lot of fun here. It is his first week and so far he’s enjoyed it and seems like they teach them well since I ask him at home to show me what he learned and he’s remembered every time. Price is fair, requires a 1 year contract which isn’t a problem due to the top notch service they provide.

My coach in Richmond VA knew Hector and said I should train with his team when I had to visit LV for work. Took a class this morning and couldn't have had a better experience! Hector was out of town, but one of his students who was teaching class welcomed me with open arms. It was a nogi class today but the instructor grabbed his gi to roll a round. No egos, just great training partners today, and I wish I had some more time to train again. I would encourage anyone who trains Jiu-jitsu out of town, to stop by and get some great coaching and rolling in! 100% recommended!

This is without a doubt the best gym in Las Vegas to learn BJJ. Having gone from gym to gym personally, none of them had stood out to me more than Cobrinha did. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Plus, this is the only gym I have gone to that is incredibly beginner friendly. Other gyms do not cater to people just starting out and on top of that you get to learn from those who have won multiple world champ titles. Hector himself is present in classes to help show you how to improve your game along receiving help from other world champ athletes. The attention to detail they put into lessons is impeccable and has tremendously helped me improve my game. I'm really glad I found this place and look forward to improving in BJJ.

We signed our son up on March 1,2018. We take him about 4-5 times a week and he absolutely loves it. My son is/was a shy person and I noticed that he is much better already. Conrinha has changed him and gave him more conference and I see much more. I recommend this to family and friends.

I’ve been a student at other studios and they were unkept and not family oriented or personal. Now both of my boys (4&6) are students here and by far this studio is exactly what we were looking for. This studio is clean and you are welcomed by name at the front by staff and other parents. It is very family oriented and the main instructor, Hector, is the right amount of discipline and fun. Additional instructors welcome and accommodate all levels. My boys enjoy and look forward to their practice and I enjoy seeing their self esteem develop.

My two sons and I started with Cobrinha in July (2017). Since the start, I’ve been impressed by the skill and caliber of the students and instructors. It’s unquestionably among the best I’ve seen. In the first few weeks I saw improvements in my sons’ and I, and we have been building on that regularly. My sons have competed in tournaments and have grown through those experiences, thanks to Cobrinha. Not only is it a great school to improve your BJJ it’s an academy with great families who are welcoming and kind. All of the the coaches/instructors are top notch and caring. For example, Coach Robert for the 7 am class is experienced and passionate. Coach Ryan in the kids class is always encouraging my sons and giving guidance on improvements. I am regularly impressed by Professor Hector (owner). He challenges the students to become the best version of ourselves both mentally and physically; he takes opportunities to challenge students to become better people in their everyday lives. If you’re goal is to learn a self defense, healthy living, improve your BJJ, or even compete in BJJ, Cobrinha Las Vegas is the academy for you.

The moment I set foot on this gym I already felt comfortable and Hector welcomed my family and I with open arms. I truly believed that he is one of the reason why my girls fell in love with the sport because of his passion for it. He is very patient and accommodating to everyone's needs along with the other coaches as well. Professor Hector imposes the importance of education as well as good character not only on but off the mats. I feel proud to have found this place for my family.

We brought our daughter to Cobrinha from another BJJ academy here in Vegas because we kept hearing the whispers that the kids program was second to none...and were BLOWN AWAY. We signed up the same day. Hector Vasquez personally teaches the classes and is on the mat with the kids the entire class (along with at least 5 other instructors). The instruction and training is unmatched. Safety is always a top priority and every child is very closely monitored. It is very fitting that his slogan is “evolve your game” because that’s exactly what happens when you train here!! Our daughter has not only grown leaps and bounds technically, but her self confidence has skyrocketed! I think what makes all the difference is Professor Vasquez’s passion for what he does. He cares so deeply about every one of his students and truly wants the best for them. So glad we found this place!

This is going to be a long review but there are just so many good things to say about this gym. My 10 yo daughter has been going to Cobrinha for a little over a year now. It started as way to get her off the couch, away from the TV and electronics. It's the best decision we've ever made. Since then, she has done 4 competitions and won 2 gold, 2 silver with the guidance and training of Professor Hector and her coaches. But it's not all about winning or succeeding on the mats and competitions. Recently our daughter was struggling in school. We've tried tutors, taking away toys, TV, tablets. Nothing worked, so one day on the way to training, my husband told her to say goodbye to her friends because it would be her last day. She cried all the way to the gym. It was then that I approached Professor Hector and asked him for help. He talked to my daughter, explained to her the importance of education, that school should always come first and going to jiu-jitsu was a "bonus", a "privilege". He and his wife Beth took it even a step further and implemented a weekly progress report for her to have her teacher sign daily. It's only been a few weeks but what a difference it has made. No more talking in class and no more missing assignments. I received positive feedback from her teacher and yesterday she was so excited to come home with her very first A+ in Math. Who knew that this was all the encouragement she needed. Professor Hector, Beth and all the coaches genuinely care about their students. They work and train you hard and give you the tools to succeed not only on the mats but in life. The gym is a great environment to be in and the kids are so supportive each other. We're so grateful for everything that they do. And yes, if you are looking to Evolve Ur Game, this is definitely the place to be.

Since my two grandchildren have been training under Hector Vasquez, I have seen their confidence steadily increase. They have formed lasting friendships and cannot wait to get to the gym to train. Joining Cobrinha as a family was the best decision we made. Professor Hector was the only professor in town willing to take the challenge and teach my 3 yr old Jiu Jitsu. Professor got my baby girl pulling guard in one week. Both my girls loves spending their free time at the gym. We spend all our free time at the gym it’s like our second home. Professor holds nothing back from any of the students And teaches the basics and high-level techniques to both the kids and the adults. The gym is a good Family environment. If you want to EVOLVE YOUR GAME to the next level, this is the best place to start. You will not be disappointed.

The BEST Jiu Jitsu academy in Las Vegas. I came here visiting from NY, I was welcomed with open arms. Hector Vasquez is an incredibly thorough instructor, experiencing his class and training with his students( he has multiple juvenile world champions who will be adult world champions very soon). Progressive Jiu Jitsu and modern Jiu Jitsu is taught at the academy. If you live in or near Vegas and are looking for a BJJ school, or if your visiting and looking to drop in. I am new to town and was looking for a BJJ gym to train at. Finding a gym is difficult because it's kind of like your second home since you will be there a lot so it's important to find one that fits your needs. When I walked into this place, I just felt relaxed and Hector and Helen were awesome and made me feel welcome. I was actually injured when I came in so I asked the guys there to roll light with me and they took good care of me. Having good training partners along with an awesome instructor goes a long way in developing your jiu jitsu. Not one time did I feel out of place or intimidated here which is important for people new to the sport. I don't have kids but their kids program looks amazing. Hector is awesome working with kids and you can see it for yourself when you come in. If you are considering trying jiu jitsu at ALL please try this place out, you won't' regret it.

Hector has a beautiful school in Summerlin. He's a very knowledgeable black belt and is a great coach for both kids and adults. The facility has a large mat space, 2 lobbys and a shower in the mens locker room. When you're in Las Vegas make sure to check him out and take a class!

Welcoming gym and clean facilities. The only reason I did 4 vs 5 stars was I had to tap quickly to avoid injury from a higher belt who thought multiple toeholds and wrist locks were acceptable techniques against a white belt.

Started off as a good Bjj for my son. It tailed off quickly. Coach Gloria cared about the kids, but Coach David is a different story. Professor Frank is a good coach, but they have too many students that pull guard and not enough room to grapple. I get pulling guard is part of the sport, but for self-defense, it's really not smart to allow. In a street fight, no one will pull guard. They also charge you for a month if you choose to cancel.

They kept charging me when I left for college, after I asked hector to pause my membership. I contacted them for months, and they didn’t reply till I left a bad review. They finally got back to me saying “ We will give you the refund once you take the review down”. Unbelievable.
