Damien runs thoughtful and well laid out classes. He is kind, knowledgeable, and skilled. He teaches children and adults in a way that's very accessible and age-appropriate. He not only teaches Jiu-Jitsu, but also helps children develop social emotional skills. My daughter loves his class.

I’ve been training at Chroma for a few months now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best academies I’ve experienced. As a brown belt, I’ve trained at a variety of gyms and seen different coaching styles and environments, and Chroma stands out among the top. Professor Damien is incredibly welcoming and makes a genuine effort to ensure every student gets the attention and support they need. The atmosphere is very comfortable and friendly. When you’re training multiple days a week, the vibe matters and Chroma has built a friendly, positive, and comfortable environment that makes you want to keep coming back. The classes are well structured, and the techniques are taught clearly and effectively. Whether you’re just starting out or continuing your jiu jitsu journey, I highly recommend giving Chroma a try.

Chroma Jiu-Jitsu is an incredible place of learning, support, community and inclusion! Owner Professor Damien understands these things deeply and cultivates a rewarding experience for each participant. I am new to Jiu-jitsu, and felt the utmost support in all the learning I have done in the last nine months. While feeling supported is important for anyone practicing, I think it is particularly relevant for me, being a woman and having experienced other gyms and athletic places where I felt I didn’t belong. Sometimes it seemed intentional, but most times it just felt like no one was looking out for how participants may experience classes if they are not a man. Not at Chroma- because all things are done with intention here! I highly recommend Chroma to anyone, for their adult or kids programs, but especially to women. Jiu-jitsu is an incredible practice of strength and discipline that teaches you so much about yourself. If there’s any place to learn that in the best ways, it’s Chroma!

I’ve been doing martial arts my entire life and I’ve been interested in Jiujitsu for a long time and I spent some time looking at schools and never found one until I encountered chroma Jujitsu. Professor Damien is a wonderful welcoming instructor who understands the art and teaches in a way that makes it easy to understand. The culture of this place is really great there is no “macho” mentality here. I’m very happy to be here and will recommend this to anyone and everyone!

The day I decided to contact Professor Damien was the day that set the ball rolling for my life to change for the better in innumerable ways. I had been interested in learning some kind of combat training for quite a few years. I was apprehensive due to not knowing what to expect as far as being unsure of what I am capable of and the other people I would have to train with. I had heard a lot about the egos & bro-mentality that often come with those who train in combat sports. When I was perusing local gyms, Chroma was the only gym that listed the prices on their website. This transparency was a show of integrity, which is very important to me. I didn't want to call around to all of these gyms to ask for their prices only to have them all try to "sell me" on a test class to get me in the door. The gyms claiming they're worried about cost scaring away adult students are falling back on a very poor excuse. A simple search will inform you of how much the average cost would be. It's worth the cost, I promise. The skills I have learned, the ability to learn control in the face of panic, the friends & community who continue to show up for & support each other, the confidence built, the fat lost & muscle gained. It's priceless. After my first day, I fell head over heels in love with Chroma & BJJ. I felt like I should have been doing it my entire life. For my ADHD brain, it has helped immensely with the emotional dysregulation & struggles with bordem that come with it. The challenges it presents & the endless journey of learning will keep me coming back for as long as my body can handle it. I am usually there 5-6 days a week so I can vouch for excellence & capabilities of each of the coaches/professors. They all have their own flavor to offer, but their technique-focused curriculum is unparalleled according to many of the drop-ins from other schools I've had conversations with. They are all highly attentive & well-informed, as well as putting a high priority on safety. Chroma's adult program is mostly comprised of hobbyists, but if you're interested in competition they will provide a comprehensive training plan to prepare yourself. If you're looking for something more hardcore & brutal, this might not be the school for you. If you're looking for inclusivity, positivity, challenges you can overcome even on your worst days, a bit of fun & laughing with some amazing, down-to-earth individuals who also have a passion for learning then I highly recommend you give Chroma a chance. I am sure they'll earn your respect, admiration, and trust just as they have mine.

Had the honor to stop by last Wednesday, during noon class. Really enjoyed the way Coach Wendy broke down the importance of establishing position, before transitioning into submission. Great hospitality... 🙏
