We started our son at Checkmat almost two years ago, and we plan to sign up our youngest soon. The team of coaches are awesome and super encouraging. They meet my child where he is at every practice and push him to do better. I am proud of the growth my son has made and look forward to the continued growth.

This place is amazing! I took my kids for a free class yesterday, and they fell in love with it right from the start. Louie and Samantha as well as the coaches, training assistants and the whole staff were all very professional and super nice, made us feel right at home. The place is very clean and organized. The kids program seems like so much fun while very structured and I well coordinated. I immediately signed up my kids, and they are super excited this morning to go back to their jiu-jitsu lesson again today. Even my kids were super impressed with a great customer service. Strongly recommended!!

My daughter wanted to join something to make friends and do a sport. I always worked night shifts and never could take her to practice. Once I got on day shift, i asked her to trust me and take up BJJ. Once she tried out at Checkmat Menifee, she was hooked. Off the bat, her school work improved and self-starting chores without reminders kicked in. 6month later, shes loves competing and seeing all her friends at the gym. The Owners are amazing at creating events to let the kids socialize off the mat and solidify the family dynamic. I Kid you not, Checkmat Menifee & BJJ has improved my family’s lives. I wish nothing but the best for the all the Professors, Coaches and Owners(Fonseca family.)

I’ve been training at this gym for 2.5 years and it’s been life-changing. Jiu-jitsu helped me get my confidence back after a rough time, and the people here have been nothing but supportive. The coaches and training partners constantly push me to grow, and many have become close friends. It’s intimidating at first, but if you’re thinking about it, sign up for a free class! One of the best decisions of my life. The kids’ program is amazing too. They’re having fun while learning, and they’re always earning medals at local tournaments. It seems like every time I stop by, there’s a new success to celebrate. Grateful to be part of such a motivating and positive environment while I train the sport I love!

My daughter has been part of this gym since January 2024. This isn’t just a gym you’re treated like family! My daughter has been taught by the best. If you are looking for a gym that feels like home where your child will learn skills and discipline look no further. We love checkmat! My kids are 7 and 5 and we’ve been training there for almost a year. My kids confidence has improved and when we first started they were scared to go on the mat but with persistence and consistency they now love it and look forward to practice and competitions! We use homeschool funds through mission vista to pay for classes, highly recommend this gym and the coaches there also!

We’ve been here for about a year and have seen so much growth in our child. The owners are wonderful and they really care about their community. They have athletes at all levels and help each of them grow to their potential. We are super grateful for this gym!

Our son has been a part of this location for over a year now and the community it has built for him has done wonders for his self-esteem. The gym is clean, the owners are kind, and they genuinely care about the well-being of the kids. We have been able to watch our son grow and are thankful for the support that the professor and coaches have given him.

Absolute best studio. So glad we found this place for my son. Its a family owned and family oriented business. The owners are so wonderful as well as the instructors. The studio is very clean. Its meant for all levels. My 3 year old is learning so much already. Thank you to Luis and Sam! Can’t wait to see what Wade is doing a year from now.

From my experience, Checkmat is an organization built around community. Checkmat Menifee is no different. The owners and Professor are great! You can tell they take pride in the program and care deeply for each student. They do a great job promoting confidence and a little toughness in the children too. Which has done wonders for my son. It can be intimidating to walk into a jiu-jitsu gym. I know this for certain because it's what stopped me for years. All that fear and irrational thinking went out the window when I met coach Louie. Checkmat Menifee coaches and professors, pride themselves on making their student's better. Not just better in jiu-jitsu, but better overall. I'm extremely glad and lucky to have found a gym that's close to home and makes me feel like family when I walk in.

Bruce is a fantastic instructor. Due to Bruce's patience, detailed instruction, and lesson structure my jiu jitsu definitely improved. For reference I trained with Bruce for almost two years, from white belt to blue belt. I would definitely recommend taking an introductory class with him if you are looking to get into the sport. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Best place in the Menifee area for Jiu Jitsu by far. The building is nice and the mats are very clean, and all the instructors are very welcoming including Professor Bruce. He is one of a kind, I highly recommend him for all levels from beginner to advanced! He is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his students.

My 12 year old son loves this place. The professors and coaches are great with the kids, lots of patience and understanding. My son has difficulties with focusing but they are able to get his attention and really work with him. It's a great workout and stress relief.

Los dueños no tienen ningún respeto yo me enteré de la vida completa de 2 estudiantes de adulto Antony y Karina ya que son bien chismosos los 2 y no tienen respeto por nadie . Por eso saqué an mis hijos de ahí y pedí mi dinero . El dueño tiene la mano lijera cuando no empuja a los adolescentes la esposa les pega en la cabeza 😡. Piensen 2 veces antes de meterse aquí antes que todo menifee se entere de sus vidas .
