My daughter loves it here. Coach Aline is amazing with kids and creates a very welcome environment where each child learns at their own pace. I can’t say enough good things about her.
My daughter really enjoyed going (whenever I was able to take her). The instructor was great and never made Mia feel like she was a newbie and she even offered a ride for Mia to attend classes. I will definitely take her back once the holidays are over.

This place is the best!! I got to train twice with this BJJ family while on vacation. Now, I find myself trying to find ways to fly back to Maui again sooner than expected, largely because I'd love to visit Checkmat Kihei again. Coach Aline is a very energetic, dynamic, and warm individual. She treats everyone like family. Within 5 minutes of arriving, I felt like I'd been part of the team for years. She's a great coach and has some great competitors. I'm sure they will be making a big name for themselves soon. Also, I was blessed to be able to roll with a variety of skill levels, age ranges, both female and male. If you're in the area, don't miss this opportunity...stop in! I got to train at Checkmat Kihei with Coach Aline and her team for 10 hours over 2 weeks in February. Coach Aline taught me a million things about half guard including a whole mindset of defensive vs aggressive half guard and a new sweep that I have used successfully in sparring multiple times. To top it all off they have a kid room that my toddler son liked, and when he suddenly seemed sad Coach picked him up and got him laughing somehow like magic. I also love the training partners - all of whom I know on a first name basis - and was truly sad to leave. Thank you Coach Aline and hope to see you next year!
Coach Aline is patient, caring, and very knowledgeable. She breaks down techniques in a simple way for all levels to understand and grasp the concept. The school is clean and very welcoming. Amazing kids and women's program. Bonus is catching a beautiful Maui sunset right outside the school doors.
