Amazing gym!!! After I moved to Dallas from WI two months ago I thought it would be hard to find another great Jiu-Jitsu gym. But Carlos Machado BJJ has really been wonderful. The staff are super welcoming and make you feel like family. The coaches make sure the students are achieving their goals and really want them to do well. For example, I was out sick a whole week and told my coach, Brad, that I felt like I was falling behind. He took time out of his weekend to meet with me and go over the techniques I missed out on. I would encourage everyone to come and try a class. Jiu-Jitsu has so many benefits and the people you get to train with are great!

This gym is awesome. I started going a few months ago, and the people there already feel like extended family. Everyone is very welcoming and encouraging. It took me two years to work up the courage to walk in a jiu jitsu gym on my own. As one of the only females, I was intimidated at first, but quickly put at ease by how professional and friendly everyone is. The classes have a great structure and pace to them. I learn something every time. Even the days where I feel like nothing's clicking, I always finish the class with more experience than when I walked in the door. If you're looking for a gym to continue or begin your journey jiu jitsu journey, I highly recommend this one.

Carlos Machado is the single most effective person I've ever learned from. His knowledge and experience are immense, but what sets him apart is his ability to understand, simplify, and communicate such an infinite Martial Art into bite sizes chunks that will be easy for you and your family to understand and apply. I've been training in BJJ & wrestling for over two decades, fought in the UFC, cornered 70 fights, and still there is never a seminar or session I walk away from with this man that I didn't learn something new or in a new way. Do yourself a favor, start training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu today, and if you're lucky enough to have the opportunity, do it with this man.

Professor Machado has not only formed a staff of excellent instructors, but has also created a culture around his academy that quickly begins to feel like a family. Unlike other schools I have attended the name "Machado" is not simply slapped on the building to get members in the doors. Professor Machado is in class regularly when he is not traveling to spread his knowledge and to bring more knowledge back to the Academy. The head instructor, Brad is a patient and has no problem demonstrating a technique multiple times. The schools support of the military and police community is one of tremendous presence. Women are of a high presence in class and the Professor Machado and Coach Brad always make sure that what someone lacks in physical size and strength is made up for with technique and drilling. I have been arm barred by girls half my size on more than one occasion. The balance of sport jiujitsu and real life application is kept in mind daily, and adapting to another persons actions has been highly beneficial for my career in the profession of arms as well as the self defense mindset during late night trips to the gas station. I highly recommend anyone is looking to integrate into a new school or looking to start jiujitsu for the first time to swing by RCJMachado.

Carlos brought BJJ to Dallas. He's the highest ranked black belt in The Dallas metroplex and beyond. With all the students that train or have trained with us he'll never forget a face and name. He is intimately involved in the children's, beginner, and advanced level classes. He's got an incredibly positive attitude that can't help but rub off on all of his students. Our journey with RCJ was a long-time coming! For years my husband spoke of 'one day learning BJJ' despite his hectic work and family schedule. Last year he began carving out that time and finally took the plunge. To our delight, both of our sons soon followed suit. Given Master Machado's super-star status in the sport it was a no-brainer where in Dallas area train. We've had added privilege of being students to other instructors at the academy who, in addition to Master Machado, are arguably the best in the area. Master Machado and all of the instructors are engaging, encouraging and genuinely value the student mastery of technique and development. Both Lindsay and Elizabeth in the office work their asses off and passionately support the academy and all things BJJ. We value and appreciate the warm family-feel of the academy during the kids' lessons. My sons' blossoming confidence, increased overall concentration and respect are undoubtedly results of their training. In a culture cursed with instant gratification and softened consequences my boys learn through BJJ resilience and perseverance of long term goals. Of all the sports my kids have played BJJ is by far my favorite as a parent to watch. My husband's BJJ training is now an integral part of his weekly schedule and his love of training grows weekly. To witness both his growth and that of my sons' is an absolute dream.

My 2 boys (age 9 & 11) have been going there for a month now, and they love it. We used to go to another facility in town. If you don't know who Carlos Machado is, then google it. Great Jiu-Jitsu school! My son has been there for 17 months. He started when he was nine and has progressed into a very talented BJJ practitioner. What's crazy is how mature he has become. On numerous occasions I have watched him allow lower belt students work on him and actually let the lower belt students tap him out. He makes sure the kids are applying the techniques correctly and doesn't let them get the submissions til they do it properly. There's a sign as you enter the school that says leave your ego at the door. To have a 9, 10, 11 year old understand and practice this is outstanding. Absolutely awesome!!!

Machado Jiu Jitsu in Carrolton has a great reputation but their business practices seem rather predatory. Requiring a 60 day cancel notification for young people who don’t necessarily understand all of the requirements and when no courses or other resources have been consume is just not honoring any type of sound business practices. They come across like a gym membership. Keep this in mind when you consider doing business with them.
