Capitol Jiu Jitsu is such a nice gym! My daughter and I dropped in while we were in town for the weekend and we were immediately welcomed like we were part of the Capitol family. The gym is ultra clean, well laid out and family friendly. The rounds were tough but clean and fun. You can tell these guys LOVE Jiu Jitsu. Thank you Jenna, and the whole Capitol Family for welcoming us to your place. We will definitely be back.
Posted 1 year agoI dropped in as a visiting white-belt and Capitol Jiu Jitsu was great! The coach took the time to come give me some tips and the team is super welcoming. You can tell by the posters and whiteboard that they have a great training regimen and teach a lot of technique. Will definitely be coming back!
Posted 1 year agoI was in town for a few weeks and dropped in to train at Capitol Jiu Jitsu — I couldn’t have picked a better place! From the moment I walked in, the members were incredibly welcoming, and the owners were fantastic. The coaches are knowledgeable, supportive, and do a great job balancing technical instruction with hard training. The class schedule was convenient and offered plenty of options to get on the mats. It’s a tough room with a lot of high-level experience, but what really stood out to me was the culture — everyone is willing to teach, help, and push each other to improve. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced grappler, this gym has something to offer. I’d highly recommend Capitol Jiu Jitsu to anyone in the Sacramento area or just passing through like I was. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!
Posted 1 year agoWe have been partaking in the Senior, or Longevity classes twice a week for over a year now. We are 64 and 68 yrs young. We both feel better all stretched out and flexible. Classes are a lot of body movement stretches and light lifting. Hips feel great! Hamstrings and glutes are stretched and healthy. We both like the personal training here at CJJ
Amazing Jiujitsu academy. I love the positive energy. Everyone is very respectful and training here made me feel at home. Strongly recommend to visit. Great Professors, coaches and student. Thank you.
Droppen in Twice here. Great gym, extreamly nice, with great rolls. Professor (forgot his name am so sorry) was a great guy with great knowledge and a very fun class structure
Was visiting town and dropped into this epic gym. The instructors were great and everyone was friendly and relaxed. The building is awesome too. Definitely worth checking out!
Great space with really nice mats! Place is clean and great for acro.
An amazing place!!!
Capitol Jiu Jitsu is simply fantastic. I moved from the LA area a year ago, and thanks to a friend, I was immediately introduced to Capitol. I’ve had approximately 15 years experience with the sport and I had some concerns with my goals, wondering if any place can fulfill them. Day one, I knew I found my home. From the amateur, to the hobbyist, to the competitor, Capitol has no shortage of training partners. The coaching/ teaching is very high level and they are always learning like ourselves. It’s a highly familial, friendly vibe, and I highly recommend anyone new in town to pay them a visit. You won’t be disappointed. Wanted to thank coach Jibran and Garrett for making my experience so great from past to present!
I would like to thank Coach Gibran for welcoming Alex and I into his school. Great instructor, I loved the layout and the students and curriculum. If you are in the Sacramento area and looking to train or if you’re looking to start some self defense classes, you can’t find better than Capitol Jiu-JiuJitsu!
Great space! Very clean gym, spacious with wall to wall mats and high ceiling. Owner was very friendly and the people here are very welcoming.
Great gym in a beautiful space! I dropped in twice & felt welcomed. The professor is knowledgeable, experienced, and kind. The gym itself is very well kept, clean, and aesthetically pleasing (which to me matters lol). Will definitely be back when we’re in town ☺️
Excellent gym. I dropped in while traveling for work and the coaches were super accommodating. I got the day wrong and showed up with no gi gear. They graciously provided me with a loaner gi and belt. I drop into a lot of gyms and this is the best I have ever been treated, thanks guys Definitely coming back next time. Keep up the good work.
Amazing Jiu Jitsu Gym I started jiu jitsu about 1.5 months ago and I regret not starting sooner. I had been thinking about starting for a long time and finally decided to check out Capitol Jiu Jitsu. I was hooked instantly! Everyone at Capitol Jiu Jitsu is so welcoming and friendly. The facility is very clean. The bathrooms, showers, and changing areas are all nice. The instructors (Gibran and Garrett) are extremely knowledgeable and are great at breaking down techniques. Capitol Jiu Jitsu is the only gym I've trained at, but I've talked to multiple people who have all said it's one of the best gyms they've trained at. I'd recommend Capitol Jiu Jitsu to everyone. If you've been thinking about starting jiu jitsu, come to Capitol Jiu Jitsu. If you just moved to town and need a gym, come to Capitol Jiu Jitsu. If you're looking to get into the best shape of your life and learn some cool moves, come to Capitol Jiu Jitsu.
As someone who began training Jiu Jitsu in the early 2000s, gyms at the time left a lot to be desired. The instruction tended to be unorganized, gym culture was tribal, and mats were often dirty. It left me wanting for a better way of learning and a healthier community. Thankfully, Capitol Jiu Jitsu is the result of discarding the negatives of the early days of BJJ in the US and transforming the training environment to maximize learning, culture, and fun. Technique/Instruction: Classes are taught in an organized manner, with clear progression and and understanding of the "why" behind the technique, instead of just learning a handful of random moves each class. The technique itself if top notch, coming from the instructors' experience in BJJ and MMA competition, as well as state-level wrestling. Culture: Members at Capitol train hard, but intelligently, and are friendly to regular training partners and visitors alike. I got the impression that the students were game, but also looking out for each other's safety. Facilities: In a world of strip mall martial arts schools with harsh fluorescent lights and plain walls, this academy's thoughtful aesthetic makes you proud to train there. It's sparkling clean and has the vibe of an upscale social club, with plenty of mat space, a full weight room, kickboxing bags, a sauna, and changing rooms with showers. What is even more amazing is that the membership is extremely reasonable compared to many other jiu jitsu academies that lack the same amenities. Closing thoughts: Capitol Jiu Jitsu sets the bar extremely high for quality of instruction, academy culture, and facilities. When I drop in at other gyms, this is the standard by which I compare them to. I highly recommend training at Capitol Jiu Jitsu, whether you live locally in Sacramento or are just dropping in from out of town. Tell Gibran that Ryan sent you, and ask him if his ankle still hurts from that footlock. See you on the mats ✌️
Dropped in from out of town for a noon class lead by Professor Garrett and couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere and class. Kind, knowledgeable instruction and great rolls. Will absolutely be stopping by again and would be signing up for a membership if I lived in Sacramento.
Capitol Jiu Jitsu is top notch! Great school all around. I’ve been training jiujitsu for 16 years and have trained all over California, several other states and few other countries. After moving to Sacramento a few years ago I started checking out various schools and I can only say great things about this one. I love the building and space, it has a lot of character, great design and layout, clean, and has a weight room too. The head instructor does a great job of welcoming outsiders and is very knowledgeable, respectful, and professional. Everyone I’ve met there was kind and friendly to us. If you’re looking for a place to train or looking to get started in jiujitsu I highly recommend this place. They also have a solid kids program that I would trust with my own kids (if I had any) or that I would recommend to my friends with kids. They also recently added Muay Thai classes which is super cool and the instructor was very nice when greeting me and seemed very competent as well. Overall great vibe here and a fun/safe place to learn!
Well to start I will say this place is excellent. You should definitely train here. Breaking it down further I have traveled all over the country stopping into gyms. I emailed the owner and he responded immediately inviting me to come drop in. As I arrived (parking can be difficult so come early). The gym is awesome. Old building lots of character has a weight room, sauna, shower facilities and cool lounge area. Most importantly it was clean. Mats were spotless. As I waited for class everyone was welcoming happy to engage in conversation and interested in what brought me to the gym. The class was taught by Garrett a black belt. His training was great. It incorporated solid basics and some cool new moves I have never been exposed to. Open mat was great. Rolled with a belts ranging from blue to black. All great people who wanted to learn and get better but nobody was trying to kill me or break my limbs off. This was a great experience and I will definitely be back. I even hung out with a few of the black belts later on and they were just great people. This is definitely the place you should come train. They are even opening a second location in Carmichael. Check them out
I’ve come to this gym several times to attend the acro jams that are held every Sunday. This space is beautiful! Wall to wall mats create the perfect space for acrobatics and it’s clean and inviting. Exposed brick walls, lovely woodwork, and many architectural details to discover. ;) The acro group that meets here is friendly and welcoming. They’re happy to lend a helping hand to beginners.
Great gym with awesome people! I was in town for work and dropped in for the fundamentals class at 5pm and the following class at 6pm. Such a fun and educational environment. Everyone was super friendly and the instructor(Garrett)really knows his stuff. Sharpened my basics and got some fun rolls. Will drop in again when I'm in town 😁
Capitol Jiu Jitsu is a clean, spacious, welcoming space that has been perfect for hosting our community acro events. Gibran is very kind and super easy to work with.
I found Capitol Jiu Jitsu through Google since I am new to the area. I stopped by and was greeted by the Coach who let me train. The coach taught some cool concepts. The gym has a brick/vintage interior which I thought looked really cool. The gym is clean, cozy, and with great room of training partners
Great place! Good vibes and good coaching, Dropped in to cross train and had an amazing experience.
Exceptional Jiu-Jitsu Gym with a Strong Sense of Community I’ve been training at Capitol Jiu Jitsu for a year and a half now, and I couldn’t be more grateful. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by both the coaches and the members. The atmosphere is incredibly positive, with a perfect balance of friendly camaraderie and serious dedication to improving at Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors are top-notch — not only are they highly skilled, but they also take the time to explain techniques in detail, ensuring that students of all levels can understand and apply them effectively with a written out curriculum. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, they offer personalized guidance that helps you grow. The attention to detail during each class, along with the focus on fundamentals, makes every lesson invaluable. Capitol Jiu Jitsu truly feels like a family where everyone encourages each other to be their best. The gym is the most beautiful I’ve ever been to with exposed brick, high ceilings and stained glass. Feels like the church you should’ve been going to your whole life. If you're looking for a place to train, whether you're interested in learning self-defense, getting in better shape, or competing in tournaments, there is a place for you here. Truly living up to the motto of jiujitsu for everyone. I’ve made incredible progress here, and I’m excited to continue my journey. Highly recommend!
I was on a work trip and I wanted to train at school that was close to my hotel. After sifting through some schools I found one, Capitol Jiu Jitsu. This school looks exactly how it feels, welcoming! When I walked in Coach Justin welcomed me and showed me where to find things. When I was stretching, I spoke to a few of the members and they were all great. The class was lead by the owner and Gibran Maciel and he too was welcoming and we had a great roll. I highly recommend this school for locals AND visitors. If I lived here, I could see myself at this school and it is my hope that when I do return in the future, I can visit Coach Gibran and his team at Capitol Jiu Jitsu! THANK YOU CAPITOL JIU JITSU!
If you’re thinking about trying jujutsu or even just looking for a new way to push your limits, Capital City Jujutsu is the place to be. It’s a journey of growth, empowerment, and resilience — and you’ll be surrounded by people who support you every step of the way. What’s amazing is how much respect everyone has for each other; it’s a true community that pushes you to be your best self, on and off the mat. Highly recommended!”
A really great place to train. Very welcoming, the instructor Gibran taught a great class and had an awesome playlist. All training partners were kind and good rolls! The gym was super clean and organized! Will definitely be back!
Visited on a work trip and this place is rad… top notch instructor, beautiful facility, great environment and training.
Always a top gym if you want good vibes and tough rounds visit Capitol Jiu Jitsu! Thanks for great training and hospitality
Came here to drop in for class and open mat on Fri evening. Normally train up at EDHBJJ. Great class and open mat. Cool crew and rolls. They also have a gyn with fitness classes, and a section for mui Thai too. Great spot
Dropped in for a training session while on a work trip to Sacramento. Great gym, excellent instructors, clean, and a welcoming environment. Will definitely make time for another class the next time I’m in town.
The intro classes make starting jujitsu very approachable
Dropped in to visit. Great looking gym with nice people. Great instruction and cute little dog named Sumo walking around.
Thanks for the leg-lock clinic Garrett. I appreciate the hospitality. 👊 The academy is beautiful and clean af!
Joined this gym back in May with very scant martial arts experience. I was drawn to the beginning Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai classes for self defense and a good workout. I do those classes and the Mat Strong (weightlifting). The class times work great with my night shift schedule. This is a great gym for beginners with/without experience in martial arts. Good for adults, teens, families, women and men. Everyone has a great attitude to helping each other improve. The facility is nice with changing rooms, loaner gear, showers, and lounge areas. I genuinely look forward to going to the gym now and I’ve already seen great skill improvements in just 3 months attending classes 3-5x/week. I’ve already recommended the gym to several local friends.
Great place, great people. I’ve been to a few of their open mats, and I’ve learned something new in every roll. They do two open mats each week, which is more than most gyms, so there are lots of opportunities to get a good variety in your training. I’ll be coming back here often 💪
Came in to Sacramento for the day and needed a place to train and couldn’t have went better. Great gym, great people and very friendly vibes. Highly recommend everyone to check them out!
I was visiting Sacramento for a few weeks and I wanted to find a solid gym so I wouldn’t get out of practice while I was out there. I looked around online and I thought I would give this gym a shot and Im very happy I did. The gym is very welcoming, has a high level of competition, and a great place if you’re visiting or looking for a place to start. I usually train in the gi so it was a culture shock training no-gi, but it was fun to train up my wrestling and get better at another style. Vibes are immaculate and they have cool t-shirts too. If I’m ever in the area again, definitely coming back.
I did a drop in class while visiting town and found Capital Jiu Jitsu to be a great gym. There was plenty of mat space, the professors were great, and the people I rolled with were great as well. They have changing rooms, the bathrooms were clean and also plenty of cubie space. I can't recommend this place enough.
Super welcoming gym, was in town for just a day and stopped by. No mat fee, just bought an awesome tshirt. And the space is an old art studio that’s beautiful. Garrett the instructor was knowledgable and friendly, we ended up hanging out after class. Will definitely come back next time I’m in sac.
Gibran and the coaches here teach legit fundamentally sound Brazilian jiu jitsu. Everyone is super friendly and willing to help build up your skills. Highly recommend giving this place a try.
Very clean and modern inside of a cool brick building. Have important things like AC and a shower. Everyone was very welcoming told me to come back and visit anytime. Great environment overall from the students and the coach.
I started jiu jitsu right before covid hit and bounced between a few gyms before I found Capitol Jiu Jitsu. The place instantly felt like a home. I felt super fortunate to walk into a gym and immediately be treated as a part of the team. No matter what level you're at, you'll always find value in training here. They offer so many classes that help cater to beginners and hobbyists, as well as those who want to take training more seriously and compete. One of my favorite aspects of CJJ was that the owner is constantly trying to provide more value by improving the facility and adding classes that offer boxing, muay thai, wrestling, strength training, and a few more. It isn't a huge building but they certainly make the most out of the space. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Don't be afraid to sign up if you've never trained before, there are new friends for you at CJJ.
I travel quite often for work across country and I had the blessing to come and train with the one and only Gibran! Super great coach who teaches down to the very finest detail. Very clean facility and everyone welcomed me like family! I won’t hesitate to come here again and it’s so worth it to check it out yourself! I’ll miss this place without a doubt.
What a great gym! The coaches are great and spend time with you. I started jiu jitsu at age 47 and am not the most coordinated or athletic dude but what a great decision it was to join! Capitol Jiu Jitsu has some really good people and I’m glad to be a part of it.
I've been training at Capitol Jiu Jitsu for about 6 months now and I can't believe I didn't find this gym sooner. The building is awesome and kept very clean, the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and super approachable, but the culture and the community are the best parts about it. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. I would recommend Capitol to anyone looking to get in shape, try something new, or just meet a new group of motivated men and women. Bonus: their IG account is great! My only regret is that I didn't join sooner.
Capitol Jiu Jitsu is an amazing place to train jiu jitsu, whether it's your first day or 10th year, and to just grow as a human being. Very safe and clean space, the instruction is clear and digestible for all skill levels, and everyone treats each other with dignity and respect. The culture here begins with the coaches, but infectiously lives within every member. Everyone is welcoming and eager to help each other learn and improve. If you forget something valuable after practice, rest assured it will be there when you come back. There isn't a better environment to be in if you're going to put your neck on the line (literally)! The schedule of classes is great for the various jobs out there. You can get your training in early in the AM, lunchtime, or in the evenings. Saturdays have a class for you and a second open mat on Sundays. They have a fantastic strength and conditioning coach with Nick, as well as an experienced Muy Thai instructor with Justin. If you have kids, they have classes for the little rugrats too. You will challenge yourself everyday here, but you'll have a smile while doing it, and I think that speaks volumes about Capitol Jiu Jitsu and its community.
Capitol Jiu Jitsu has been a great experience for me. Despite only having gone for only a few weeks, I have nothing but positive comments for the people who work and train there. Be it for any reason, that could be getting in shape, (like me), or just wanting to have a new hobby, this is a great place to learn new skills and make new connections. Justin is the Muay Thai coach and has been very helpful in my learning process. Gibran has also helped me quite a bit in Jiu Jitsu and helping me get back into it.
I'm very glad I found Capitol Jiu Jitsu! I love everything about this place. Everyone I've met has been friendly and welcoming, all of the instructors are engaging and brilliant, the classes are fun and challenging, the mats and gym equipment are always clean. I really couldn't ask for more and am looking forward to many years of training with this team!
I recently visited Capitol BJJ and was thoroughly impressed. The facility is clean and well-equipped, and the instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. He provided personalized attention to each student, making the learning experience exceptional. The community here is welcoming and supportive, creating a fantastic atmosphere for training. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, Capitol BJJ offers top-notch instruction and a friendly environment. Highly recommended!
Very beautiful facility they have! The mat space is ample elite workout area, and the instructor is extremely knowledgeable. He ran a very safe controlled class and I got excellent training from him.
I recently checked out Capitol Jiu Jitsu for an adult no gi class as a drop in. The members there were super friendly and welcoming, which was assuring when jumping into a new gym. The instructors were great too, always there to offer tips and make sure everyone was getting the most out of the session regardless of experience level. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a solid jiu jitsu community. I will most definitely be back.
During my recent visit to Sacramento, I decided to drop in for a few no gi classes. The facility itself was clean and well-maintained. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the staff and fellow practitioners, which made me feel welcome right away. The no gi classes I attended were well-structured, starting with a comprehensive warm-up that included both solo drills and partner exercises. The instructor was knowledgeable and had a clear and effective teaching style. During the technique portion, we focused on a series of leg locks and submissions that built on one another, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to advanced students, could follow along and grasp the concepts. The instructor took the time to correct individual mistakes and offer personalized feedback. The sparring sessions were at a good pace and controlled. Overall, my experience training at Capitol Jiujitsu was fantastic and I was glad I could find somewhere to train while away from home.
I cannot recommend capital enough, as a place to better yourself, to be apart of an amazing community, to make friends and to learn martial arts at a high level. I came to capital jiu Jitsu on a whim looking for something new and interesting to learn. Coach Gibran and Coach Garret are professionals and are exceptional people, always welcoming to all and willing to help anyone who whats to put the work in! Capital offers incredible value for the price and seems like a no brainer to me if you are someone interested in getting into the sport!
Great Gym for all levels of Jiu Jitsu. Welcoming environment with people of all skill levels. Highly recommend.
Hands down an amazing gym, great people, competitive yet un-intimidating environment! I’m lucky enough to travel for work and therefore train at many different gyms across the U.S., Capitol BJJ stands out as a gym that I highly recommend to anyone at any level for quality instruction, competitive yet safe environment, CLEAN facilities, and great people. Their open mat times attract a lot of different people from other gyms around the region. Capitol also has an amazing in-house strength and conditioning coach, Nick, who runs an incredibly cutting edge movement and strength program for its members to enjoy. Highly recommend this gym to anyone wanting to start jiu jitsu, considering finding a new school, or just wanting to drop-in.
Dropped in while visiting family in Sacramento great vibe, welcoming people and knowledgeable coaches. I highly recommend
Gibran the owner has been super helpful. I really like the way they organize the gym and teach the kids. My son has been there for about 6 months now, and he is doing much better here than at his previous gym. I would definitely recommend Capitol Jiu Jitsu for your kids, and they have adult classes too.
Are you looking for a great place to better yourself in a beautiful and encouraging environment? Then look no further than Capitol Jiu Jitsu. You will become as good as the gym looks, and damn does the gym look good.
Was in town for work the 1st week of March and gave Gibran a call to ask if I could drop in for a 6pm session and he said sure! So, showed up and filled out a waiver and met a cool purple belt and Chris who taught that evening. Would definitely drop in again when in Sac. People were welcoming and got some good rolls in. Nice to find a gym that reminds you of your home gym. Thanks! John
After coming up in a gym in Phoenix, I was nervous to branch out and try to find a new gym here. Everyone at Capitol was immediately welcoming and Gibran and the coaches created a great and respectful environment. As a female, it can be intimidating jumping in with a bunch of strangers, but everyone was a team player and eager to learn from one another. From the cool, industrial environment to the friendliness of the community to the expertise of the instructors and upper belts, I would highly recommend!
Have been dropping in at Capitol Jiu Jitsu during my lunch break and can only say great things about this gym. Coach Gibran is very approachable and knowledgeable. Can say the same about the rest of the crew I’ve come across while visiting. 100% recommend stopping by for some great BJJ!
I dropped in for a class as a traveling visitor. Capitol Jiu Jitsu is fantastic. Great instructor in Coach Gibran who made sure to give individual attention to all of his students, including me. He even stayed after class to work with students that wanted to train more. All of the students were friendly and welcoming of all levels. Friendly rolls from everyone who matched my intensity and pace. And the gym space from the mats to the locker room is very well designed. I would recommend Capitol to anyone whether they're a day 1 white belt or a black belt.
Blue belt from Gracie Humaita, did a drop-in few months ago for several adult gi and no-gi classes while visiting for work and enjoyed the coaches instructionals and training format. Beautiful training facility, well kept, nice merch and everyone down to earth and inviting. Picked up a few techniques and brought back to my gym. Highly recommended and plan on being a regular visitor when I'm in town for work.
It’s a surprise to me how much I look forward going to the Longevity class at CJJ. Due to injuries, I was a couch potato for too long but now, with Nick and staff help, I’m on the road again to fitness and strength.
I’ve traveled all over California for work and have trained at many BJJ academy’s. Capitol BJJ is one of the coolest spots I’ve ever trained. Truly unique architecture and clean facilities with a lot to offer going beyond the average BJJ academy. The instructors were warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The students were also very cool to “the new guy,” which is a reflection of the leadership. If you live in the Sacramento area and are looking to train BJJ, look no further and start training here.
The longevity class for mid50s and up folks is outstanding. It is twice a week and is working on strength, flexibility and mobility. The coaches are helpful, friendly and careful about form. It is exactly what I need!
I had the pleasure of training at this jiu-jitsu gym while on a work trip, and it was an incredible experience. The instructor was welcoming, and the other students were friendly and supportive. The facility was top-notch, I was impressed by the emphasis on both technique and practical application. I highly recommend this gym for its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to the art of jiu-jitsu.
Visited Sacramento and did a drop-in. Beautiful gym with a weight room & shower. Instruction & rolling in a warm and family friendly environment!
I was fortunate enough to be invited to roll around during open mat workouts. From the moment I walked in, everyone was really friendly and welcoming. I was able to obtain a great amount of knowledge from the individuals I rolled with. Anyone looking for training in the Sacramento area should definitely come check it out.
Awesome gym, that’s decked out perfectly. Coach went above and beyond to teach out my many mistakes and the class is well organized to get the most out of an hour roll, highly recommend this spot.
Awesome place to train. Just got back into it after a little while off and feel very comfortable and welcome as a new guy. Excellent instruction in friendly environment. Check it out.
If you’re new to the sport, Capitol Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic place to start your journey. The coaches are welcoming, encouraging, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to help their students learn and progress. The camaraderie amongst the members is awesome to witness and the more experienced folks are great resources to lean on when you have questions. I recently started taking private lessons and was set up with an incredible instructor, Kelvin Martinez, who plans out each session methodically and with purpose. He has really helped me get more comfortable being uncomfortable and constantly reminds me to be kind to myself. The sport is already hard enough and you will certainly feel like a fish out of water at first, but CJJ is a place free of ego and judgement. The positivity and good vibes not only make it fun, but also encourage you to keep pushing your limits.
My 15 year old son is a wrestler. I was looking for an Open Mat and found Capitol BJJ and Gibran. I emailed Gibran if we could train during is Open Mat schedule. Gibran got back to me quickly and said, "Sure, come down". When we got there, everyone was welcoming and the spot was awesome. Clean, great mats, good space. Gibran came over introduced himself, helped my son with techniques and even had one of his guys spar with my son. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back. Thank You again everyone at Capitol BJJ!
I can not stress how important Capital Jujitsu has been for me in this last year. I toyed with the idea of starting Jujitsu for about 5 years and the second I walked into the academy and met Gibran, I knew I had to join. Everyone is so nice, welcoming and encouraging and this is a true community that welcomes everyone regardless of skill level. Do yourself a favor and get in and start working. You will not regret it.
Such a nice designed place, showers, welcoming people and just a cool vibe with high level partners. 10/10✅
Nice guys, great gum🔥
What a great gym! The gym was very warm and inviting. Everyone was super friendly. The head instructor couldn't be a nicer guy. Showed some awesome turtle attacks . I will definitely drop in again and If I lived in the area I would make it my home gym.
Awesome gym for all levels. Very experienced coaches. Whether if you’re looking to sharpen your skills as a fighter or just going to improve your fitness levels. Gibran and Justin really provide a good environment to learn martial arts.
I recently took my first class here with Nick and it was GREAT! He was helpful and guided me through movements that I was struggling with. Everyone I met here was so nice and welcoming. They have a great community here and I will definitely be coming back!
Fantastic training environment! Love training and learning new things!
I stopped to train recently while traveling. The gym was stunning and so welcoming. The instructors and students were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Capitol Jiu Jitsu and will definitely drop in again when I get the chance.
I signed up for capitol jiu jitsu back in July after taking a couple years off from training and it’s one of, if not the best place I have ever been a part of. Gibran runs a great program the fosters a lot of growth and competition without any ego or bullheadedness involved. Everyone who trains there is friendly and outgoing and they also have a great striking program ran by Justin and nick kills it on the strength and conditioning. I would highly recommend capitol to anyone who either wanted to continue and elevate their training or if they are a first timer who may feel nervous to start.
Beginner friendly, Clean gym, Nice people 👍🏽
The culture here is excellent. Great instruction and the vibe is very open and friendly. I've trained at a lot of different gyms and Capitol Jiu Jitsu is definitely up there. They've been very welcoming the couple of times I've visited, and all of the students are technical and challenging rolls. The facilities are also top tier, including plentiful and clean mat space, a sweet strength and conditioning area, the thoughtful changing areas, showers, etc. -- a hard to find combination in any martial arts facility. If I lived in the area this would be my spot, 100%. Looking forward to returning here when I'm in town visiting family.
I came here with absolutely no grappling experience. I was hesitant to sign up not knowing how I would fit in as a beginner. During my trial class I got a sense that everyone wanted me to feel comfortable and welcome. Ive been attending for a couple months now, mostly taking the morning Jiu Jitsu classes, and some of the evening Muay Thai classes as well. The instructors, along with the other students have been more than helpful. It's nice to be a beginner and feel that everyone has your best interest in mind and wants to see you grow. This is a great spot, with a great community, Im completely hooked.
If you’re in search of the best all around Jiu Jitsu training school, look no further than Capitol Jiu Jitsu, Sacramento CA. Their team of seasoned professionals consistently exceeds my expectations. They took the time to understand my specific needs and provided me a tailored approach for my desired training regiment. There are no egos from the staff or students. Overall, the business is above reproach. I highly recommend Capitol Jiu Jitsu!
I trained at capitol jiu jitsu for a little while. I took the beginners class they offered, but they really encourage all students to go to all classes. The lesson plan for beginners is digestible and easy to follow, and all of the instructors are very welcoming and eager to help. Overall great environment for new or experienced people.
This place is amazing. Great vibe and great people. Was in town for a Jiu Jitsu tournament and dropped in. I was stunned by the style and cleanliness of the gym. The people were extremely welcoming. Definitely the place to check out if you are thinking about training or looking for a new spot in Sacramento.
Best people and environment. Thank you Justin and Gibran for the warm welcome 🙏🏽
Absolute great jiujitsu gym with knowledgeable and friendly instructors. Very welcoming and open environment as well as having a light gym as well. 100/10 recommend for beginners into advanced levels.
Stopped in for a class while in town on business. Facility is beautiful, clean, and everyone was inviting and friendly. Class was fun and rolls at the end were tough!!! Capitol Jiu-Jitsu is definitely worth a visit if you are in the Sacramento area.
Great gym. Very welcoming.
very welcoming people, and a very nice environment (both people and the space).
Welcoming atmosphere. Knowledgeable instructors and a real community feel. Clean gym as well. Everyone is happy to encourage you in your growth and development.
the gym is clean and friendly, and make sure you ask questions! the guys there are super knowledgeable and willing to help. i was curious about some things because I wrestled but am new to bjj, and the guys pulled me to the side and we incredibly helpful.
Visited from out of town a few times now and will return! Great instruction, top-notch facilities and a super welcoming environment. Can't recommend enough.
Spent awhile looking for the right gym and found it day one at capital. High level coaching that's easy to understand, classes that fit my crazy schedule and a bunch of knowledgeable and helpful teammates. Nothing but positivity there, won't find a better gym.
