I started training in Soryu Karate in July 2020. I've dabbled in the martial arts since 1997. Sensei James Caldwell and Shin Ryu Kan are equal to the best teachers and schools where I trained in Central California. The written training materials are excellent. Everyone shows respect and care for each other, setting the bar for physical training just a little higher, but with respect for one's physical capacity and the safety of all.
My grandkids have been going to see Sensei Caldwell for a couple of years and they truly love what he teaches. Great traditional style of teaching that emphasizes discipline and learning.
James is super knowledgeable and passionate about the craft. He has lots of energy and a lot to teach. I'd recommend him and his dojo to all my friends.
I looked around for a place to study for a while that was in or near Omaha but was having trouble finding a place that taught traditional Japanese Okinawan karate do. finally after wasting nine months and pouring money into the sub par system of Christopher Geary, I found this place and couldn't be happier with it. The teaching is superb, and the sensei and teachers keep a close eye on your progress providing not only helpful practical pointers, but also with history surrounding the system in order to truly educate you on the art. Before committing to any system, come here and see what sensei Caldwell has to offer. Couldn't over recommend this system, it's great!
It is a great and authentic Karate-Do federation. Best around by far.
Authentic and great place for kids and adults to learn basic to advanced martial arts.
