  Attended for a class, and was welcomed to an amazing environment. Whether new or seasoned they do an amazing job of ensuring your comfortable as soon as you arrive. The class was paced well and full of small little details to ensure you understand what you are doing and why. Clean and professional environment with students also safe and welcoming.

  High level jiu-jitsu with a very welcoming crowd. The instructors are deeply knowledgeable and are always paying attention to your training no matter what your level or prowess, leading to much quicker progress on your learning curve. Further to my point above, the people are fantastic and it truly feels like a community. At Balance you come back for the BJJ and for the good company.

  I started my Jujitsu journey at the beginning of 2026. Many of my session have been with either Paxton or Ali. Both an incredible teachers of the craft and I am very happy that I started with this brand. All individuals that have joined the classes are great people and the willingness to assist beginners. Great community and a phenomenal place to advance your skills.

  After 18 years away from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better place to come back to than Balance BJJ. From day one, Paxton, Ali and the entire coaching team have been incredibly welcoming, professional and supportive. The instructors are all highly experienced, knowledgeable and genuinely invested in helping everyone improve, regardless of experience level. They create an environment where you can learn at your own pace while still being challenged to become better every session. The club itself is in a great location, the facilities are excellent, and the atmosphere is second to none. Every single student I’ve trained with has been friendly, respectful and happy to help. There’s no ego, no attitude—just people who love training and want to see each other succeed. That’s a rare thing to find. Coming back after such a long break was something I was nervous about, but Balance BJJ made the transition feel effortless. They helped me rebuild my confidence, sharpen my skills and reminded me why I fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu in the first place. Without a doubt, one of the best decisions I’ve made in years was returning to BJJ, and choosing Balance BJJ was the best decision I could have made. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced grappler, I can’t recommend this club highly enough.   I visited while on a family holiday in London. I was staying close to Picadilly, a friend recommended Balance since it is very close. I had a great session with their morning class at 7, while the family was still asleep, I got to improve my backtakes :) the members were superwelcoming and the instructor(Fitzroy) was awesome, both knowledge wise, and being able to teach it. Good mix of technique, drill, play and roll. I warmly recommend Balance BJJ in Soho.

  I've only just started at Balance — literally a couple of sessions in as a complete beginner — but I already know I've made the right call. I did a lot of digging before picking a gym. I wanted somewhere with a proper lineage and a coach who knew what he was talking about. Paxton's a Roger Gracie black belt, and the standard and attention to detail he and his team bring to every session is exactly what I was hoping for. What stood out as a beginner was how welcoming it was without being soft. I walked in not particularly fit, not flexible, carrying a bit of extra weight — none of which was treated as a problem. Paxton gave me real feedback from the first class, not just generic "well done" stuff — actual corrections, actual coaching, met me where I was. The other members were proper training partners too: respectful, helpful, no ego. Whether you want to train casually for fitness and the love of the sport, or you want to push into competition, Balance has room for both. Paxton himself competes regularly at the highest level, and there's a real competition scene within the gym for anyone who wants to take that path. It's also in the perfect spot in Soho if you work in central London. The mats are clean, the place is well managed, and the whole academy feels considered. If you're thinking about starting BJJ — even if you're not in great shape — go to Balance. I'm happy to get my arse kicked here for the foreseeable. Genuinely chuffed I picked this place.

  Balance BJJ is a top notch BJJ gym in central London. The gym hits all of the marks - clean mats, first-rate instructors (Paxton and Ali) and an excellent group of people to train with. Balance BJJ offers classes six days a week, both gi and no gi, and can accommodate all skill levels. If you are looking for a fun, clean and challenging environment to start or continue your BJJ journey in central London, this is the spot.

  Paxton is an excellent trainer and injects enthusiasm about the sport into everyone that walks through the door. The mix of belts and experience makes this a great place to learn for beginners and more experienced players. Sessions everyday in Gi and no Gi. Flawless experience since early 2023

  An amazing class with an awesome coach. I tried BJJ with Paxton 2 years ago on a whim and have been hooked ever since. Pax is extremely personable and an excellent teacher who tailors his instruction to the individual. All backgrounds and abilities are made to feel welcome and part of the group. Would highly recommend to give it a try if new to the sport or to come along if familiar with BJj and in the area.
