Joining BUDO has been life changing for me. Scott, Dan and Stephen are literally world class. For anyone that knows about the “Blue Basement” in NYC - I’ve taken classes there, and I would much rather be here. No matter how bad my day has been, I can say with absolute conviction that I’ve always left class in a better mood than when I came.

I have stopped training Bjj for few years due to shoulder and back injuries. But signing up even for only one month at this dojo awakened my spirit of jiu jitsu again! I wish I signed up earlier at this Dojo! Professor Scott's classes are top notch, I always looked forward to being on the matt. He has a great curriculum teachings, technical and effective and attends to each student to make sure they fully understand the fundamentals and techniques. It's great for all levels from beginner to advanced. you will feel exactly at home. unfortunately i moved to Calgary, but definitely will drop in whenever im in Vancouver. OSS! - Jason

I joined Budo to focus on improving my grappling for MMA. What started as the occasional class became a regular routine where I eventually competed with Scott as my coach. I went from feeling hopeless at BJJ to winning a gold medal in masters white belt. This is a fantastic gym to gain knowledge from a world class competition level black belt in Scott. There are many high level belts to get more knowledge from and will help you in your journey on the mats. The vibe is quite friendly and welcoming for total beginners. Mats are cleaned regularly. For smaller people, there's all kinds of body types so you won't be crushed by a disproportionate group of light heavyweights. A good number of regular students are female if you're looking for a more female friendly gym. Classes are run with Q&A, technique, then about half an hour of rolling/sparring. This is a good formula for fixing issues specific to you and getting in valuable mat time. Budo is a solid choice if you're just starting or wanting a place to grow.

Budo is like my home away from home. Whenever I'm in Vancouver, It is my go to spot for jiu jitsu. Scott and the whole team are super welcoming. Training partners here are great and instruction is top notch! Overall a great place for beginners and seasoned jiu jitsu competitors alike.

After trying several other BJJ schools I am grateful to have found Budo. The instructors are excellent; they break complex moves down into manageable steps so us beginners can understand. They are also attentive, answering questions and watching us practice to ensure we are doing the techniques properly. On top of the excellent instructors, the whole Budo team is extremely welcoming. I feel lucky to have found a place where I am this excited to attend each class.
