Been a student for years snd I’m grateful for this dojo practically every day. On the most fundamental level: they teach good martial arts. Practical but not brutal. Excellent environment and community, enthusiastic and attentive instructors. Always get a good workout. A variety of martial arts styles (stand-up, ground and weapons) so there’s something for everyone. Engaging and fun classes for kids. Always clean and consistently hosts community events. To be clear this is a family and community focused dojo, it’s not for people looking to hurt others or be super aggressive.

My son (17) started here years ago and had to stop due to life and an injury. They have always still made him feel included and valued even when we took a break. Now my daughter (7) just started her class and is loving it. She can be shy but they have worked with her at her pace and comfort level while still encouraging her. She loves karate days!

We have been attending classes at the Breakthrough dojo for the past 6 months (kids and adult classes), and the team here is really amazing. They make learning fun, teach the kids positive lessons each class, and along with traditional techniques they make sure you understand how to use the skills they’re teaching in real-world scenarios. Definitely recommend Breakthrough to anyone looking to learn an effective blended system of martial arts!

Breakthrough is an amazing dojo. I used to be in the juniors class, which was an amazing and fun experience. The teachers made class super fun and interactive for the kids. I’m now in the teen and adult class which is just as fun. There’s sparing class, jujitsu class, kicking class, weapons class, or you can experience a little bit of it all in the normal classes! Renchi Mansfield makes this amazing community even better. I 150% recommend anyone who’s looking to try out martial arts to come here.

Breakthrough Martial Arts is an exceptional place! Both of our kids have a blast learning and growing here. The instructors (shoutout to all the Sempais and teachers) are always accessible and hands on with the students. My kids love learning jiu jitsu, weapon skills and kicking. As parents, we love the positive atmosphere where our kids learn a variety of martial arts and are also taught super helpful life lessons such as leadership, personal interactions with others and safety. Belt ceremonies are a huge deal and we love seeing the beaming smiles as kids level up. The holiday parties are a fun time where we get to connect in a new way with others and enjoy some fun food. It really gels the experience for us. Both my wife and I have also joined. The classes are fun and challenging. We love how supportive everyone is of each other and the intentionality of all the instructors with hands on help when we are stuck learning a new move. This is truly a special place and if you have any interest in martial arts, come give them a try and prepare to be impressed!

Not only do they teach martial arts they also teach about respect, empathy and focus. We have been going to Breakthrough for nearly a year and I would highly recommend this dojo! You won't find a kinder staff. Sensei Mansfield goes above and beyond to see that everyone succeeds and his mannerisms with the kids are awesome. His heart is as big as he is tall! They are very family friendly and make you feel welcome. I really like that dojo has a place to watch your kiddos and toys for the little ones to play with while they wait. The class schedule is great, as you can go any day you want.

Fantastic Dojo with wonderful instructors. I have taken a few classes here and the staff made me feel welcome and instructed with me without making me feel embarrassed. I am not the strongest martial artist so having professional instruction in a comfortable environment was a really nice and appreciated. The classes were engaging, fun and interesting. Sensei Mansfield takes time with all the students and is a patient kind person. Very knowledgeable and was able to help me execute moves he demonstrated to me. He was willing to take the time to answer any questions I had and did so for all the students in his class. Would highly recommend this martial arts academy and will be returning for more classes.

I took my very first martial arts class at Breakthrough and had the most incredible experience. The instructors are all kind, patient, and knowledgable. The class itself was very enjoyable, the teachers are skilled in their craft and are able to teach you so much while making the class an absolute blast. You can tell right away that the owner, Sensei Dave, has an immense love and respect for Martial Arts and that is brought into every aspect of his business. Joining Breakthrough has been one of the best decisions we ever made. Sensei Mansfield has built a place that is both a school and a 2nd family. The curriculum is fun and challenging, where you can learn karate techniques, jujitsu, and traditional weapons. More importantly, the dojo is an uplifting family. They helped my daughter to mature into a stronger and more responsible person, helped my wife to grow healthier and gain confidence, and have been a lifeline to me to help me keep my spirits up and keep growing and moving through a long, difficult illness. I brought my daughter to Breakthrough (Age 4), and she positively loved it. Not long after I decided to join for myself, and a few months later my wife joined as well. For the little ones, they get a great balance of learning martial arts and games to keep them engaged. For adults, the coursework is top notch. I feel more combat-ready from my time at BMA than any other studio I've attended. I fully recommend them.

I have attended 2 kids birthday parties (age 6) hosted by Breakthrough Family Academy and the instructors are wonderful with the kids, have fun games for them to play and do a great job of centering the festivities around the birthday kid but not too much. When my son broke his foot and didn’t want to fall behind, Sensei modified things so he could still participate and learn. As a parent we look at ways for our children to grow and become the best they can possibly be. This week has been an amazing week for my daughter. I feel I need to share, my 8 year old has ADHD and some self control issues. Back in late August we started going to Breakthrough family academy. I liked the teaching strategies of Sensei Mansfield right out the gate, keeping young children engaged and learning while they learn was evident. My daughter had no clue what was going one other than she just seen kids having fun together. With a background in several arts and instruction myself I was looking at different aspects than her, and I like what I was seeing. Fast forward to now, after a few months of hard work and lots of fun she is in her last belt rank as a beginner. Looking to promote to intermediate she knows she has work to do and a lot to learn. This week she graduated her mental health counselor and also had the best parent teacher confidence she has ever had. Both the Dr. And her teacher attribute her growth to her joining this dojo. Her attitude at home has been so much better as well as her focus. Very proud of this little girl, while not everything she has progressed in is 100% of the classes doing, it has given her an outlet and focus to continue to achieve her goals and with the extra support of her “team" and Sensei she is unstoppable. Thank you so much to Breakthrough!! If you’ve read this and had doubts about whether its right for your child, give it a shot. Who knows maybe it can be the extra push they need.

His Sensei is an incredible trainer and leader and has created a real Martial Arts feeling from the moment we had the orientation to the moment he finished his 1st session. Even after going only once, he is already inspired to succeed and change his life in new and positive ways. My office had a team building day and decided on a self defense theme. We chose Sense Mansfields everyday self defense class because it really outlines how to not be a victim. The class was super fun and he made sure we could verbalize what to look for and how to avoid being a victim and take action in case of an emergency.Thank you so much for the class we will definitely be coming back!
