BTT Winter Haven is a wonderful gym full of wonderful people. Coach Melvin and his team provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to train in. Coach Melvin’s coaching style is very detailed and motivating, which is great for beginners as well as experienced students. Brazilian Top Team Winter Have is an absolutely fantastic place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! Coach Melvin Thompson and his wife Alicia Thompson run a great facility that is catered to ages 4 - adulthood. I, along with 2 of my kids (6 and 7), train at this top notch facility. During the time my kids have been training, not only has their understanding of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu improved, but they’ve gained a sense of community by making new friends, overcome social awkwardness, improved their overall health (cardio and strength), their ability to stay calm while under duress and to understand the concept of not quitting. I highly recommend checking out BTT-Winter Haven.

If you want to level-up your BJJ skills and learn to truly master martial arts: Join the Brazilian Top Team (BTT) family today! Whenever I'm visiting family, I make it a point to train at BTT under the guidance of Professor Melvin. Even in a class environment, Professor Melvin has a remarkable ability to make you feel like you're receiving one-on-one instruction. His keen eye for detail and ability to illustrate adjustments in my technique have significantly elevated my BJJ skills and game. After returning to my home gym in GA, I truly notice the improvements in my technique and overall game. The atmosphere at BTT is incredibly welcoming; from day one, I felt like a part of the BTT family. Whether it's BJJ, MMA, Self-Defense, or Muay Thai, Brazilian Top Team is the gym to join. Even if you're just passing through for a week or two, you won't leave BTT without leveling up your skills. If you're looking for a martial arts gym to call home or train at while visiting the area, BTT is the one.

This place is awesome and the people who run it are equally amazing. All of the instructors under coach Melvin are well versed and eager to teach. I have 3 children attending classes nightly. My 5-year-old loves his coaches and stays to hang around for the older kids (6-12) and adult (12+) classes. Coach is extremely attentive with each of his young students and every day I find myself impressed by his level of patience. My 9-year-old also attends, and she can't get enough. She's going to be a formidable force by the time she's 10 and we're thrilled to know that this level of training will be a form of defense she will carry through her teens and as an adult. My 16-year-old son has taken a strong liking to the adult class, that my wife and I attend as well, and he's already competition ready... Coach Melvin has taken his time teaching him and always entertains, and answers, his many inquisitions. I can truly say that WHBJJ has planted a seed that is sowing a strong bond within our family! We love it here and hope to see you soon!

Attended my first class this evening and although I was nervous, I was welcomed like an old friend. Coach Melvin is awesome and was super patient teaching me techniques while also running the class. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

Great coaches and amazing owners. Family oriented and super welcoming. The coaches are patient with students and everyone practices respectfully. Who and drama are left at the door. I’ve brought a couple friends in and they all love it. I would definitely recommend to others.

I was searching for a place to get some rolls in while visiting family during the Thanksgiving holiday and I came across Brazilian Top Team Winter Haven. I checked their social media and decided to give them a try. What a great decision that was, Professor Melvin and his students treated me as one of their own. I got some very good rolls in and also learned a few techniques from Professor Melvin. If you are in town or want to try Jiujitsu, give them a try. Their hospitality was very welcoming and I had an awesome experience. What a great group of guys! I will definitely visit them next time I come visit family. Thanks again, Professor Melvin.

Top notch facility welcoming to families. Coach and Mrs. Alicia are great with the kids, which we have 3 of them enjoying their training. The facilities are always clean and the kids are worn out when they leave, but with smiles.

The best fighting gym I’ve been to. Bar none. I’ve been to other jiu jitsu schools in winterhaven, and boxing gyms out of state, and whbjj has by far been the friendliest, and also has the best coaches. If you want to get into combat sports, start here.

This gym is the family we’ve been looking for. My husband and I tried other martial arts for our kids and we tried other bjj gyms. Nothing ever fit for our kids. When we found WHBJJ we knew the first week something was different. Coach Melvin and his wife, Mrs. Alicia, are amazing people. They have more patience than I knew was possible especially working with so many children. We have kids in each of the age group classes. We started with 3 kids and now both my husband and I have joined the adult class. We are just waiting for our youngest to have another birthday and the whole family will be at WHBJJ. This place has become our family.

To me this is an academy/school. The professor is a humble man. He’s keen to make sure that every student understands the move from position, transition to submission. He also shares variations to a move with the proper technique. He’s patient and have answers to all of our questions which makes it much easier to be encouraged to learn. I can’t say enough about the environment that for one is void of egos. The professor and his wife are beautiful people through and through that is about as high level as one can get. OSS!

I stopped in while visiting Legoland with my family. Melvin and his team were great. I joined one of their open mats and got some vacation rolls in. The rolls were solid and the people were friendly. I look forward to sharing the mat with them again. If you are ever in the area check this place out.

Today I was given a very warm welcome by WHBJJ while visiting family in town! This gym is not only spic and span clean, but it had extra features such as punching bags as well as areas for weight lifting! Coach Melvin and his team were extremely professional as well as calm and easy going! It made me feel very relaxed while rolling, giving us a lot of room to work on our craft without worry. Coach Melvin saw that I was eager for work and personally asked if I’d like to work a session on Thai pads, and I gladly accepted! We did a couple rounds and he really really worked me! His jiu jitsu is phenomenal and every student of his is serious about getting better. Thank you for the work, I very much appreciate it Winter Haven BJJ! This gym will be my home away from home when I visit family!
