My children started BJJ at Perth Hills almost a year ago. They love it so much and had never a session that wasn't fun and engaging. The coaches put their heart and soul in teaching to the highest standards and my kids enjoy the mix between practise mat time, enriching games and learning strategic moves, while forming great friendships and boosting their confidence as a bonus. Mike the owner always makes sure every single child gets encouraged and taught to their full potential with lots of fun. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ive been training at l13 for about a year now and I love it, the community is amazing there is zero ego just a bunch of good people helping other's to improve. The coaches are very knowledgeable and very good at putting things in such a way that everyone can understand. 10/10 reccomend this place to anyone
My son is 6, quite small for his age and naturally very shy. He has been doing the kids’ BJJ classes for 7 weeks now and has absolutely loved it. He has shown improvement every week, not only with his BJJ skills but also with his confidence. Mike and his team run the classes really well and have created a fun but disciplined environment for the kids. When my son first started, he would sit at the back of the class and was very quiet. Now, 7 weeks later, he is volunteering to demonstrate in front of the whole class. It has been fantastic to see his confidence grow. I highly recommend Mike and his team if you're looking for something new for your kids to try. It has been a great experience for my son so far! 🥋
I've been training here a bit over 6 months and love it. As a late-30's guy with no experience, I was pretty intimidated going in, but the whole team have been incredibly welcoming and have made the whole process easy for me. Pretty happy to say that I went down a shirt size within a few months, will need to buy a new belt soon as my waist is shrinking, and have found a lot of confidence along the way too.
We’ve been part of Legion 13 for around 3 years now, and honestly couldn’t be happier. Our kids joined first, and it’s been amazing watching their confidence grow over the years. They’ve learned so much, not just in jiu jitsu, but also respect, discipline and perseverance. They always look forward to training. Seeing how much they enjoyed it encouraged my husband and I to join too, and now it’s something we all get to do together as a family, which has been really special. The best thing about L13 Hills is the people. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive, and it really does feel like a family. We’ve met some genuinely great friends through the gym who we now go camping with and catch up outside of training. It’s become so much more than just a place to train. We’re so glad we found L13 Hills and would happily recommend it to anyone thinking about giving BJJ a go.
We've been taking our 11-year-old daughter for almost a year now and our 8 year old daughter has just started as well.This has been one of the best decisions we've made for them. Mike and his excellent team have created a welcoming, positive, and disciplined environment where kids can learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a fun and supportive way. Both of our girls absolutely love going to class. They come home smiling, full of energy, and excited to tell us what they learned. Beyond the physical benefits, we've seen a noticeable boost in their confidence and self-esteem since they started training. They carry themselves with more assurance, and they've developed better focus and respect—skills that are carrying over into school and everyday life. Mike is passionate about what he does, and it shows in the way he and his team teach and interact with the kids. They make sure every child feels included and challenged at the right level. If you're looking for a jiu-jitsu program for your kids, I can't recommend Mike and his team highly enough. This is a top-notch academy with heart.
The support, mentorship and camaraderie I have experienced since joining Legion 13 continues to help me exponentially with developing my character, resilience and skills. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone who's looking for a change for the better. Legion 13 is a family I'm proud to be a part of.
Posted 2 years agoMy daughter started jiu-jitsu about 2 months ago! Mike and the team have been so welcoming the coaches are fantastic! They really show a strong passion to teach young kids my daughter absolutely loves coming! If your thinking of joining I would definitely recommend !

Stoked I decided to add BJJ into my martial arts journey. Highly recommend checking out the Hills Academy if you’re thinking about joining a club. I can guarantee you won’t regret it 🖤
Posted 2 years agoI have only been going to Midvale Legion 13 for around 3 months, and I love it. Everybody there is so respectful, I am being trained with the highest degree of care and I have already earned my first stripe on my white belt. Mike is an amazing instructor, and never fails to teach everyone perfectly, making sure everyone knows what they have been taught, and manages to teach everyone in a different way that works for them. I am 17 and plan to leave over east to join the army at the start of 2025, but I am hoping to get at least my 3rd, 4th stripe belt belt, or even better, my blue belt. I love training here and will always continue to come here until I leave, thank you to everyone who helps create Legion 13.
Posted 3 years agoOur kids joined the junior 1 class just over 9 months ago. It's such a great experience and they loved it from the start. The quality of teaching and support is exceptional and it's just a great community. We're seeing benefits on so many levels for the kids individually and as a family. Highly recommended.
