    If you’re new to BJJ, as I was, then this place is undoubtedly what you’re looking for: The head instructor, Rodrigo, is exceptionally kind as well as a fantastic teacher. Also, every other athlete I met while training was scarily nice. On my first day, nearly everyone I encountered asked if I enjoyed myself and if I would be returning. After scouring the city of Ottawa for a good, clean, and respectable place to train martial arts, I would confidently say Brave represents the intersection of these three tenants. There is a free trial week available, take advantage of it if you want world-class schooling, or if you’re tired of punching a bag.

    I’ve visited many Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms in Ottawa and trained at one for a long period of time, however Brave Martial Arts Institute really stood out for me. Professor Rodrigo is a third degree black belt, and a very high level instructor who goes over every technique in extreme detail. He mentions little details that you don’t even think about until he brings them up. He really focuses on the progression of each student, of all levels. He rolls with all of his students, no matter how much experience they have. When I joined Brave I was really surprised at the level of the students. Everyone, whether beginner or experienced, is very good. The beginners show a very good understanding of the fundamentals, and more experienced students are always willing to roll, help and give advice. Everyone is really friendly. Whether you’re rolling with a beginner, or a higher belt, every roll will be competitive and provide a lesson. Lastly, the gym is very spacious and clean.

    Hands down, the best place in Ottawa to train Brazilian Jiujitsu. Rodrigo's instruction is like going to a BJJ clinic in every single class. The details, the "why" in every technique, and the genuine interest in the development of each individual. On top of that, you get to train with outstanding training partners of all experience levels, who are an awesome group of humans. Finally, the club itself is outstanding, with top of the line equipment and facilities that is meticulously cleaned every day. Brave provides the best of everything a student should look for: World-class instruction, outstanding teammates within an amazing facility.

    Have been attending the Brave institute for a few months now and I have to say this has been an overly impressive experience. Every instructor really has so much expertise in their field and will always strive to provide each individual the attention they need to fully develop. The community is great here. Everyones a friendly face, the management and staff is professional , knowledgable , sincere and attentive! Also always a butt kicking workout! Great job team!

    Master Rodrigo is a great leader and example of athlete, his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the best and his methodology is guarantee for all who looking for a great martial art and true Jiu Jitsu. The environment and structure are great different complemented by the excellent level of all practioners.
