Black Tie Jiu-Jitsu is truly incredible. Zach Medina is not just a cool dude...he’s an outstanding instructor with a passion for teaching and uplifting everyone around him. The community here is beyond welcoming; every single person is helpful, friendly, and supportive. After being out of the game for a while, coming back to a gym that feels like family is nothing short of amazing. I’m fired up and grateful to be part of this journey again.... I can’t wait to grow, improve, and roll with this awesome crew!

I can’t say enough good things about Black Tie Colorado. Every time I step into the gym, I feel nothing but love, support, and genuine connection. The people here aren’t just teammates—they’re family. From the coaching to the community, everything about this place is built with intention and heart. Whether you’re a competitor, hobbyist, or just starting out, you’re welcomed exactly as you are. I’ve shared some of my favorite training memories here and met people I’ll cherish for life. Thank you, Black Tie, for being such a solid and beautiful part of my journey. I love you guys.

Coach Zack is one of the best people out there. Blacktie has been one of the best decisions I have made. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, and they work well with all belt and skill levels. Their kids class is amazing!!! I have 3 kiddos there now and they are thriving 🦝✌

I have to say that coming from sort of a "big box" bjj gym to a little smaller place, I wasn't sure what to expect. Thankfully, it was a great decision moving over to Black Tie. Will is great instructor, super-personable, and down-to-earth. Everyone else I've met at Black Tie was there to train seriously, but they still had fun with it, and there was absolutely zero egos or weirdness. My only regret is not starting with Will and his crew from day 1 of my bjj career. This is the perfect school start your journey, especially for the new year! Couldn't recommend it highly enough if you're in the Centennial area...or even if you're not, worth the drive, in my opinion.
I love this place for my son and myself. The coaches are so helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

I had never participated in any one on one activity like this, but the black tie family couldn’t have made it easier to want to keep coming!
Where do I even start? Will the head coach has created such a positive environment for the gym, it's impossible not to be in a good mood when you walk thru blackties doors. Him and his entire team bring such a great energy every night, it's truly contagious. The training is spot on for whatever your needs may be. competition focused, hobbyists, kids classes Will and his team can accommodate. Beyond training Black Tie has personally saved my mental and physical health over the past year and a half that I have been with them. Whatever your struggles may be, ie- weight loss/ mental health/ rehabilitation, Blacktie is here to help with it. There's lots of decent gyms in CO. But there's only one black tie. Thank you Blacktie for being my home, my community, and my friends. And for anyone considering a new gym, come stop by.
I’m in town for the week and thought I’d try Black Tie. Immediately I felt like I was a part of the Black Tie family. Will is a phenomenal coach. I look forward to training here again during my next visit.
I'm a purple belt, I've been training Jiu-Jitsu for 7 years and I'd like to think I know a good gym when I see one. Will is an amazing coach and a tough competitor. The gym has an amazing culture. The gym is full of wonderful, helpful, and friendly people. No matter what you're trying to find in Jiu-Jitsu, you'll find it at Black Tie!
Black tie BJJ has been extremely welcoming as I have recently moved to the area. Getting back into bjj was a hard commitment to make yet when you are learning and growing with the team here it’s easy to want to show up. Will is always coming in and teaching with a very upbeat attitude and everyday your learning something new to be able to take your BJJ to the next level. Also worth saying a very female friendly gym as well so I would highly recommend anyone looking to get into bjj to check a class out 🙌🙌
Started here 6 weeks ago and love it. I tried 5-6 different sport BJJ gyms before deciding on Black Tie. Very welcoming the instant I walked in the door. They have classes multiple times a day to fit your schedule, including lunch. Will is an excellent coach. Looking forward to the future.
Can't recommend it enough! From my first step into the gym, Will and this group has been so welcoming and it’s such a great place to train! I rarely leave reviews but this gym feels like home now.
Welcoming, great instructional, and a clean/fun space. I travel a lot and dropped into a class, where Will made me feel very welcome and I walked away a better jiu jitsu practitioner. Will be coming back when in the Denver/centennial area.
What makes this gym great is that they are willing to give you individual attention to ensure you understand the techniques and have all your questions answered. It's a laid back atmosphere with great training partners.
Amazing gym - I walked in without any knowledge of fighting at all and I have learned so much already. All of the training partners will push you hard but with an atmosphere of fun and learning. I was worried that I would not fit in as a woman and someone who is just doing this as a hobby - but everyone is very nice and I feel comfortable here! I also have already lost some of my pandemic weight just by going to class. If you're curious, give it a try - you won't regret it!
Definitely the best place to train I have found! You are welcomed like family from the minute you walk through the door and it creates and environment you want to be in all the time. I recently had to have shoulder surgery and the whole team is willing to meet me where I’m at to get me back on that mat, so you won’t find a more inclusive or better place to train. Try them out, you won’t regret it!
Top notch school. Lot of one on one time with the couch. The students are all very talented and have great attitudes. No matter what your skill level is, you'll feel right at home at Black Tie.

This gym is amazing. Everything, from the coaches to the group of people that practice here, makes this gym enjoyable and competitive. I travel almost an hour every time to come to this gym, not because there isn't a closer gym, but because there isn't a better gym. Whether you have never done jiu-jitsu or you're a seasoned veteran, this gym promotes an atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. As a person who has never done jiu-jitsu before, after one session, I was hooked. Thank you to Will and Zach for promoting an enjoyable environment to learn and grow.
Black Tie Centennial is a great Jiujitsu gym to enroll in for both classes in gi and no gi. Wil and Zach are great guys! They also have open mat sessions that I enjoy attending. The best things about this gym are not only the lessons and techniques that the team offers but the members and instructors are a great bunch of folks. I train with them regularly and will do so into the future. I highly recommend that you check them out.
I've been to numerous schools in the greater Denver area and Black Tie is definitely one of the best. Will, the head coach of Black Tie Centennial takes thorough measures to maintain gym culture, making sure everyone feels comfortable training here (hobbyists and competitors alike).
Whether you are trying to compete, learn self defense, or just want to try out jiu-jitsu, Black Tie is the gym to go to! The coaches are knowledgeable and are very welcoming. The classes are structured in a way that you feel comfortable asking questions and actually succeed at the technique being taught. Coach Will and Zach are super stand up guys. They will go around class and make sure everyone is comfortable with the technique being taught before moving on. At the end of each class there are live rounds to practice what was taught for the day. If you want to get the most bang for your buck, give Black Tie BJJ a shot, you won't regret it!
This is a good gym. I often pass through Denver for work, so being able to squeeze in quality training on my travel days has been great. I’ve trained here a few times this summer and I always come away with a new perspective and a solid set of rounds. Having visited gyms around the country, BTBJJ is laid back compared to more traditional schools, but it’s certainly not a basement brawl sort of place. The chill vibe allows an open forum for deep dives, explanations, and focus on the students. The team welcomed me in from day one and I look forward to the evenings I can train there. Coach Will is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He’s been willing to demonstrate and elaborate upon technique while concisely navigating BJJ rabbit holes. BTBJJ competitors also seem to perform well in tournaments, which is a direct reflection of curriculum, leadership, and the gym as a whole. BTBJJ is a clean, friendly, and effective gym.

Great facility and great people! Coach Will and Coach Zack are great instructors who not only teach strong Jiu Jitsu, but also invite other gyms to train with us in order to expand our knowledge! The gym encourages their students to attend competitions but is very hobbyist friendly. The training partners are wonderful. They not only train hard with you, but also care about your well-being. Another cool thing about this gym is that it is a month to month contract and you could cancel anytime. Great price for what this gym will teach you!
Hit up Will at Blacktie jiujitsu for Open Mat and had a blast. Highly recommend. Looking forward to going back. Nice facility as well. Everyone was super cool. Osssssssss
I visited Denver for a week and dropped in to the open mat and gi class — I’m a white belt with a little over a year experience. Will is the man. Very warm and friendly gym culture (everyone was super cool), high level instruction, and at the end of the day they roll hard! Will knows his stuff, and he breaks down the technique in very understandable ways. Rest of the class was white belts and one blue. Got beat up (in a good way — if you practice bjj you get it) by Will and the blue belt and had really competitive rolls from other white belts. It felt good to know the levels were similar to my home gym (shout out to Nexus Jiu Jitsu in Folsom, CA). This is a great gym, and I highly recommend it especially for beginners like me.
Outstanding club! Coaches Will and Zach are amazing teachers and can teach to different styles as well as push teammates to the point of failure. All the guys are of a similar mindset as far as drive and respect. Nothing is given for free in this gym and it forces members to get better every day. Love it!
Great atmosphere to get a good workout in ! The guys at the gym have no problem staying after practice and helping you out in anything you might want to work on that night. My first jujitsu gym ever was a success I would definitely recommend this gym to any and everyone!
First ever Jiu Jitsu class it was such a fun time. I have not been in an environment like that since wrestling in high school so I was nervous but the instructor, Will, was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and understanding of that. The class well structured and gave students time to practice some moves before practicing live rounds with each other. I will definitely be back!
Can't recommend this experience enough to ANYONE of any skill level. If you are looking for a new routine or chapter in your life, start it here. I had been to a jiu jitsu gym before, but it nothing like the brotherhood and positive environment of this gym. Will is a phenomenal teacher and everyone should step outside of their comfort zone and come learn this artform and meet new people. Truly enjoyable!
I used to think that jiu-jitsu would never work on me. I'd just stand up. But Will showed me that jiu-jitsu works in the streets and I've never looked back.

Will was my coworker and friend while he was living in Florida and the one who convinced me start training. I looked forward to training every day just knowing he would be there because he always encouraged me to do my best and continue to fight. Some days it was just the two of us at day class and those were some of my favorite training sessions, getting to train one on one. I absolutely loved being taught jiu jitsu by him and I intend to move out to Colorado at the earliest opportunity just so I can specifically train under him once again. It's absolutely worth it to learn what he has to offer!
Top notch instruction. Will brings high level details to a fun and family oriented environment. From the weekend warrior to the competitive professional Will knows his stuff. Zero drama and welcoming to everyone interested in the art! Highly recommended.
I’ve had the pleasure of training and rolling with Will when he was down visiting, he is a great teacher and a beast on the mats. If you get a chance to train with him do so or you’re just missing out.
