We love this jujutsu academy! My four-year-old boys have been attending weekly and love it. The instructors are fantastic—firm yet encouraging—teaching discipline and structure in a way that keeps the kids engaged and motivated. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and there’s a real sense of family and belonging. It’s the perfect place for young kids to learn respect, focus, and confidence while having fun. Highly recommend!

We absolutely love Black Hole BJJ! They offer an incredibly strong and well-structured program. Initially, I was hesitant to sign my boys up for jiu-jitsu, but I’m so glad I did. The coaches are outstanding, and the program exceeds all our expectations. We couldn’t be happier—it’s an amazing place!

I am very grateful to be a part of Black Hole BJJ family. As someone who has been in the bjj community for 10 years, I have seen many gyms but it is very rare to find the level of instruction found at Black Hole BJJ. Coach Mike is a wealth of jiujitsu knowledge and also a very caring coach. This gym is fantastic for all walks of life and from interests ranging from hobbyist to pro-athlete. This gym is high-quality and also feels like family. Joining this gym was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I highly reccomend this gym to anyone!

My 4 year old loves it here! Matt has the patience of a saint with the kids and the overall team is fantastic with my not so easy, full of energy, boy! Highly recommend them to anyone wanting to start the children! My son is listening better and following directions better all while learning self defense! Thank you mike for giving my son a chance and to the team for supporting him to thrive!!

A great place for anyone who wants to learn self defense, and get into amazing shape! A place where you grow to be like a family with your class mates. My kids have all grown up doing jujitsu. I believe it has made them way more self confident, stronger and all around disciplined. Mike the owner is super friendly and very easy to talk to. They have amazing coaches all around from the mighty might classes to the adult classes. I’m so proud and happy to say my kids go there.

My son loves going to class. He’s there four days a week and he’s improving quickly. The coaches expect a lot. No one gets a participation trophy- you earn your stripes and belts here. Which is why we love it for our son. He’s so proud of himself and it shows off the mat too (in school and at home)

This is the first thing I've been able to get my kids to stick with. The coaches are great with the kids (and there are adult classes as well). There is a strong sense of community, but they also make all of the new students feel welcome as well.

This gym is very welcoming and they promote a love of BJJ. Four of us showed up for open mat but it had been cancelled. Two of the instructors held an impromptu class for us. It lasted about an hour and a half. I really believe they did it sincerely because the love the sport and want to spread it. They wouldn’t accept any money and by the way the class and instruction were fantastic!

Black hole is the place to be if you want to get in shape, learn useful self defense skills, and have a great time. They are truly a tight knit family. Mike genuinely cares about every one of his students as is evidenced by the fact that he travels all over the country/world for his team. They always have multiple great high level teachers at the school and everyone has been very willing to help others learn. No egos here. 10/10 would recommend to everyone!!!

The coaches, students, and atmosphere are more than welcoming. Compared to other gyms around the area, this place will make you feel right at home. I was skeptical finding a new gym after I graduated college and did not have the most pleasant experience with other local gyms. Mike Wacker really put a lot of time and effort into ensuring his gym is safe, respectable, and gives everyone the best experience possible. Four years later, I'm still right where I belong.

I absolutely love this place. I'm brand new to the sport, but Mike and all of the coaches were super welcoming and encouraging from the moment I stepped in the door. Mike runs a serious, professional program but still keeps it fun. Just 5 weeks into training and Black Hole feels like home already. Also, the gym is kept very clean and the whole staff takes cleanliness and hygiene incredibly seriously. Classes are well-attended, but I still get tons of personal attention from the coaches. Also, a good balance of both white belts and upper level belts to train with. I shopped around with some other gyms before joining here, and this is unquestionably the place to be.

I've been attending this school for a year now and I couldn't have made a better choice. Although they offer many different classes that I could go to, I tend to stick to the Jiu Jitsu classes. Considering that they offer boxing, aikido, wrestling, muay thai and MMAMMA train, it is a steal! All the instructors are passionate about what they do. They find time to give one on one instruction during classes if needed and are always quick to answer any questions that students have.

I had my son at another nearby school for a year and always felt he's just wasting time there and learning nothing. The moment I entered premises of black hole BJJ, I realized that this is THE PLACE where you want to train for martial arts. As soon as I saw even small kids wrestling with each other and trainers were there showing them how to fight, I knew what we missed. The best part I like is that for one same fee you can attend all other classes Monday to Saturday while other places allowed just 2 days per week and only 45 min. I really love it. Would recommend to anyone!

Black Hole bjj is one of the best schools I've been lucky enough to train at. Professor Mike Wacker runs an academy based on giving his students clear and concise instructions every class. The school is clean and well maintained with a no ego vibe. The academy offers an array of other martial arts including boxing with Coach Ellis and muay thai with Coach Mima. Plus there is always high level black belts stopping by to train or to run a class from one of Black Holes affliats. The instructors are extremely friendly. They are well versed in competitive/street effective jiu jitsu. The curriculum is flexible and systematic. The class warms up a bit, drills, moves into a guard passing/King of the hill exercise then right into open mat with the instructor moving around to guide each player.

I have been training in Brazilian Jiujitsu for about 6 years, and I have been lucky enough to train with some great instructors. I think the instruction at Black Hole is second to none. Mike Wacker is an amazing coach and martial artist who is great at breaking down techniques and getting people to understand them. He sets the tone at this gym, and the other instructors learn from him. There is a great family vibe there and everyone is very welcoming. The amount of personal attention that Mike Wacker bestows upon each of his students is unparalled. I started training in BJJ exactly 1 year ago: 43 years old, straight off the couch. Black Hole BJJ has worked wonders for me; it has literally changed my life. Mike always seems to sense when I (or anyone) needs an uplifting word or motivational speech. Black Hole has an excellent children's jiu-jitsu program which provides a strong foundation in BJJ basics, along with plenty of rolling. Mike Wacker promotes his young adult students based on their jiu-jitsu skills and work ethic on the mat, solely. Compared with similar Hudson Valley martial arts instruction, the differences that make Black Hole "the best" are markedly observable: weekday daytime classes (for those of us who work nights), longer adult classes that ALWAYS incorporate rolling, fantastic jiu-jitsu instruction blended with a familial / brotherhood type atmosphere, and a billing / business acumen that is cognizant of today's economy and peoples' financial situations. I could go on forever, but it appears this place is for "brief" reviews. Shout out to Coach Todd: himself an outstanding instructor.

I have taken BJJ at Black Hole Jiu Jitsu for over 3 years. Coach Mike Wacker is not only a great coach of mine but almost like family. That's the type of place Black Hole is. My Dad trains there too and he runs a large Amateur Fight league and he says it all the time. Some of the East Coast best Jiu Jitsu comes out of Black Hole BJJ. My Head coach Mike Wacker along with Coach Todd, Coach Trenton help me not only be the best competitor I can be but a better person too! BTW...I'm a NAGA/Aggressive Combat Sports/Grapplers Quest Champion and so are most of my teammates but the most important thing at Black Hole is everyone helps one another the Coaches are at every event and give you step by step instruction! Boxing with Coach Aaron is amazing...They have Kickboxing/Yoga and Wrestling along with MMA training, something for everyone! Take a FREE week and you will feel like family within that week.
