Definitely was the right choice I made for my sons joining. They were going through unbalanced emotions and not focus on their school work. Since they've been a part of the ATA, their attitudes and behaviors changed for the better. They're more focused, certainly disciplined, shows respect and enjoy all their classes. My eldest is in the leadership program... never thought he would do it but he is showing out the skills he learnt from the instructors. Love the instructors. They all work together well to ensure the kids are learning the skills as they should and giving them the encouragement they need to keep going.
The instructors are very patient with the beginners like me. Classes are very intensive, you can learn how to defense yourself very quickly. Positive atmosphere
We love our experience at BBAS Fairview. I have a 9 year old boy that never commits to anything but he loves it here and loves the instructors. Love the smaller atmosphere compared to other schools around here.
In my opinion this is a great school, I recently signed both of my sons up to participate. We moved here recently and they just absolutely love it. Being the family man I am I‘d definitely recommend you stop by to check it out. The classes are convenient and action packed from beginning to end.
My daughter attends class here. Initially, she was invited by a friend. She fell in love with the activity. I love the positive messaging and activity the school encourages. My daughter has shown a remarkable positive confidence change due to the lessons. The staff and instructors are amazing and friendly. The lessons are simple to follow and grow with no matter the age or physical capabilities. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The students are friendly and encourage one another. Overall, our family's experience has been a tremendous positive experience.
All 4 of our children really enjoy BBAS. It’s been a year for our oldest and he cannot get enough. Best decision we’ve made.
Both my grandson and my daughter attend classes here. Very family friendly atmosphere. The instructors are amazing and definitely have the gift of teaching students of all ages the techniques of taekwondo. Their principles of Honesty, Respect & Integrity are demonstrated from the youngest all the way through adult classes. They have several options for advancement with their Legacy Program and teach you how to become an instructor if that is your calling. Or you can train to go into competion from State, District and World titles. I don't believe that my family would ever choose to go anywhere other than BBAS. They are FAMILY!
My daughter has been attending taekwondo classes for two years and we are very happy with the results! She has friends and great instructors who always bring out the best in her. Many life skills are taught in class, including discipline. We are very satisfied!
My family has been a part of the Black Belt Attitude School for 3 years now. We have loved every minute of it. My son started when he was 4 years old in the Tiny Tigers program. He was such a shy, nervous kid that was so unsure of himself. His experience at BBAS has played a major role in turning that around. His self confidence is amazing now, he has really opened up, and is making lots of friends and memories, all while learning a great art and self defense. The instructors are amazing. They are extremely knowledgeable being World, District, and State champs themselves. They instill values of respect, confidence, discipline, and honesty. No matter your skill level, age, or physical capabilities going in, they encourage you to do your personal best and strive to achieve more everyday.
Awesome instructors who strive to help the kiddos succeed and do their best. The student to instructor ratio is great. Also, the class time/schedule is very flexible.
My son has really enjoyed his classes and the staff has been great!
BBA has been amazing for our son’s confidence. The instructors have been absolutely amazing in helping him learn how to do things correctly. He responds so well to each of them and they are truly amazing with the children they are teaching! So thankful to have found this school.
BBAS has helped raise my daughter's confidence immensely. She leaves feeling stronger and accepted. We are so glad that we started this journey with her. We had no idea that it would turn into what it has. It started out as a way to build confidence against bullies. But it turned into so much more. At the end of the day, yes there are things that can be tweaked. But you'll never please everyone and from what I've experienced, they are always there to talk to or reach out to if an issue arises. I think the teachers/instructors do a tremendous job of instilling leadership skills and discipline in the kids. The teachers/instructors also know them all by name, that is huge, considering there are quite a few students! It's the little things like that, that go a long way.
My kids and I love Black Belly attitude karate! My kids have already gained so much confidence in the past few months of attending!
I have two kids (5 and 3) that have started a few months ago and they love it. I myself even signed up for 3 months of the adult classes. The kids love that their dad is doing it too and it is a way for us to bond.
My son (4 years old) absolutely loves BBA! The instructors are amazing, mature, and have patience with the kids while teaching them their skills. Nothing makes my heart happier than seeing my kid doing something he loves and having some great instructors helping him. We are so grateful to be apart of the BBA family!
Where do I begin in describing this establishment? At first some may think that all Taekwondo’s are the same, but they would be wrong. This place, is a family. It is a place that we watch our kids grow up together as they become disciplined, respectful, caring, and genuinely powerful in a craft that could only be taught by some of the best! The students learn their own voice and grow as individuals who take pride in their accomplishments. We started our child in Tiny Tigers and have had no regrets in his journey to blackbelt. That’s what it is, a journey of achievable challenges, not just belts. A place of encouragement is an understatement. You are going to WANT to be better, be faster, and be in that next belt. Students are motivated and completing forms, weapons, and sparring in ways that they never thought possible until they walk into the Fairview Road location. Young, old, everyone is welcomed by kind, hardworking, genuine expertise. My family is forever grateful to the instructors and consistency this place offers along with the knowledge they happily provided.
My son loves Black Belt Attitude School! Best decision I made! Amazing instructor. Wonderful establishment.
What a great wonderful place for the kids and adults. The instructors are talented, professional and knowledgeable. They instruct and teach the kids discipline, tolerance, courage and many skills with respect for themselves and others. What a great experience for the kids!!
My son Ty has gained so much confidence and strength since we started. All the instructors are beyond amazing and this has been such a great experience for Ty. Thank you ATA!!!!
Great for adults too! They are open six days a week, which helps those of us with fluctuating schedules keep up with the program. Each class is a real workout. I usually leave tired, but always feeling awesome. The trained instructors really know how to help those of us that aren't natural athletes realize our potential. There is also a strong sense of community. I highly recommend it!
Me and my family started here over 2 years ago and we only have good things to say about this place. The instructors do their best to help out everybody and make sure the students, as well as the parents, feel comfortable. I highly recommend this school!
We have been in Black Belt Attitude School for the last three years, and we do not regreat it. Since the moment we started, I have seen improve on my two sons, both attletically and on their behavior. I have seen the confidence of my oldest son highly grow and he is looking foward to become an instructor himself. My youngest son's behavior has also improved, being more respectful and kind. Black Belt Attitude not only offers very useful life skills, but also offers a great variaty of programs and tournaments that exeeds any other martial arts school in the state. Also all the instructors, from all the locations, are amazing! They are very respectfull and skilled. Black Belt Attitude School is a very good option.
The school is great! … Our family has been attending for almost a year and all the instructors are very dedicated. They make the class enjoyable for the kids and adults but yet introducing respect and discipline.
I encourage anyone reading this to give Black Belt Attitude School a try; I have been nothing less than amazed at the instructional quality my daughter has received from the fantastic staff here at the school. The confidence, self-respect, and respect for others that the school strives to instill in its students is remarkable, and seeing the continued growth of these ideals and values in my daughter is nothing short of amazing. It has turned over a new leaf for her and opened the doors for her to be a better version of herself, not only now, but as a future contributing member of society. This change has been evident in all of my daughter's classmates as well, and it is enjoyable to see their transformation over the course of the past year and a half of our attendance. The instructors take their time and strive to do their best each and every day and it shows in the amount of knowledge and technique they impart on the students. My family is so grateful for all of the opportunities BBAS has afforded us, and the life lessons they continue to teach my daughter daily. I can't fail to mention the benefit of the self-defense aspect of Taekwondo should my daughter ever need to use it. We couldn't be happier as part of the BBAS family, and highly recommend this or any of their other locations if you too want to see your kids grow in ways you may not have thought possible.
Award winning! With wonderful instructors who are patient and knowledgeable. Friendly staff who are willingly to answer any questions and help you with anything you need. I highly recommend starting your karate journey here!
Wonderful place for kids to learn! The instructors here are great and patient with teaching the children. The staff is above and beyond helpful to anyone with any questions and they make everyone feel included! A+ service. I highly recommend my daughters been here over a year now.
They have opened up my quiet and very low confident son. He is no longer not afraid to talk, he's no longer scared of bullies and now he believes in himself more than ever.
We love Black Belt Attitude School. It has truly changed my daughter's life! The instructors are amazing and are great role models for my daughter. I love how they always integrate values like discipline, respect, confidence, school and home life. I am so thankful for our taekwondo family we have found at BBAS and cannot thank the staff enough for the positive influence they have had on my child.
My boys love Black Belt Attitude! They enjoy it and have progressed so much!
We love ATA!!! The crew is awesome and the black belt school has made my 5 year old more determined, more focused, and more empathic! We love the staff and Miss Petra is the best!!
This is an awesome martial arts school - great environment for kids to learn in with excellent instructors.
Great school kids love their teachers. Come join a great family find lifetime friendships. Give your children a great start they will become more confident respectful 🎉
We've been at BBAS for over 4 years now. We have very much enjoyed our journey. We are part of an amazing taekwondo family and I'm so happy we made the decision to start at BBAS. I have a strong, confident son who now aspires to become an instructor, himself. What a testament to the BBAS instructors when they inspire kids to follow in their footsteps.
2nd tournament of the year I just want to say THANKS to all the teachers and all the other staffs and all the students. I love being a part of the family and I can't wait to learn more and to grow more together. I'm forever Grateful that I have more to look forward with everyone. Thanks
We love the teachers here. They teach discipline & respect but also keep things light and fun for the younger children. We love going & the self confidence it's building in our son. Would definitely recommend!!!
Great teachers fun sport!!!
My son love it! Great place to train and learn TWK-DO
Nice for kids but management is poor. No disrespect to the talented kids who work here. It’s management. Classes are grossly overbooked. Every award ceremony has kids smashed in so tight they’re hitting each other. Parents struggle to find standing room. Right now there is a kid outside crying because it’s too crowded and I’m with him! I can’t even see my kid. This is not the first time. It’s a bit of a joke. I’d try to find a studio where they can manage their classes so kids have enough attention. Right now the owner (who I’ve never seen) is in Hawaii somewhere enjoying the spoils of fees charged for classes and weapons. Don’t be fooled by free classes or low intro rates.
*****Warning****** Parents do month to month payments because if not this company will steal your money. They told us we could pause our contract any time we need to. So I pause and they still took my money out. Like why would I pay you and I'm not coming. That don't make any sense.
Nightmare! Would give zero stars if I could. I bought a pre-pay someone was selling to try it out for 5 months for my 5yr old son. In the process my 9yr old daughter decided she wanted to join in. I never received a copy of her contract but remember being told "60 days free...6 months" so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's loud & difficult to hear when they explain this stuff. This started in October. By March we wanted out. By that time they'd gotten another few hundred out of me: fees, equipment bag, belt tests...they promote on the drop of a dime, focus is on "let's get that stripe before the next belt test!" which is another $50 every other month. They promote when kids obviously aren't ready: my 5yr old is very immature & hyper, he showed minimal progress & zero skill yet they were ready to promote the first chance around, I actually denied it. They push for more money for all these cool things your kid is going to want to do that don't mean anything, aka Leadership Program for another several hundred dollars. They talk about "it promotes self esteem", yet my 9yr old was becoming discouraged because she saw other kids being promoted on her level that obviously lacked her skill, which equates to participation trophies. The final straw was when she received one stripe promotion that she said "I don't feel like I earned that", & her own self esteem began to wane. This is a 9yr old who has been through foster care & adoption & we've worked hard on her self esteem after all she's been through so when that happened I was DONE. I called to cancel, they said it's not possible unless she's physically unable to participate. I told them it was mentally detrimental to her to receive participation trophies, learning zero actual skill. They don't care, said ZERO cancelation policy. I found my son's contract (since I never received a copy of hers) & in teeny tiny fine print that you can't see without a magnifier it basically says "monthly draft is automatically a one year contract". To claim to care about kids, they obviously don't when it comes to what is best for them. Now they're still charging $120 a month, they say it's through December even though we signed up in October/November. 6 months from October would be April, which I agreed to even pay until then. I've now got both kids in a real Taekwondo school, where they've both learned more in 6 weeks than they did there, including balance, strength, purpose of form, as opposed to loud classes that feel lacking. My 5yr old's behavior has improved significantly compared to when at BBA. Also, while XMA looks really cool, look it up: it's literally teaching how to be a Power Ranger, designed by a former Power Ranger. BBA & XMA are theatrics, not actual skill. Don't fall for the hype & pressure, & they don't actually care about what's best for your child.
STAY AWAY!! I was considering different activities for my 5 yearly old boys. I saw an ad for a free one time trial visit to a local karate class so I thought I would see if they liked it. We went to the class and they didn't seem to enjoy it. Afterwards, the teacher immediately began pressuring me to sign a contract for one year. I told her I didn't think my boys enjoyed the class and she said the price was only good for that day. I was still hesitant but asked how much it was. After she told me I said no, that was too much and I didn't want to sign anything before discussing it with my husband first. She continued to pressure me. My two boys were crying at this point because they wanted to leave. I felt trapped there. She then proceeded to say I could sign a 6 month contract instead for 1/2 the amount. I was flustered at this point with my kids crying and her pressuring me still so I said ok. I ended up being swindled out of $1400 ($700/each) for a 6 month membership! I regretted it the moment I left. Needless to say, my boys didn't want to go back. I think the biggest drawback I have is they have a no refund policy, so if it's not a good fit for your child then your stuck with the membership. I was told I can sell my membership or pause it. However there are several others on FB marketplace for sale which have not sold. Worst decision I've ever made. Do NOT buy anything at your trial session. I felt pressured into buying something I wasn't even sure my boys would like, and the young teacher that sold me the membership new this. The management is rude and cold. I have asked the manager for the owners phone number to see if they would understand the situation and she said "they are always out of town." I have checked with the BBB website and there are numerous other complaints with this business for the same bait and switch tactics. I feel this business is deceiving in it's practices and unfairly trapping customers in contracts using high sales pressure tactics and failing to mention pertinent facts.
I put my kid in this school it’s a joke!! He didn’t learn how to defend himself against a fly let alone a kidnapper or bad guy!! They took my money just to learn my kid rubbish!! Not to mention when my kid graduated to the next belt in which I didn’t see any improvement in his defense or self discipline from the first day of training!! The deal breaker was I couldn’t believe the instructor came a little too close to his genital area even Inappropriate contact with my kid during the learning process in which I explained my concerns!! The karate instructor’s responded with they was showing him how to react in a real life situation!!! I was concerned it was something fishy about about they’re response body language and tone of speech!! So I only let him compete or train under my supervision after the incident!! But as time went on I couldn’t bare or stand to see any other option but to take him out of this establishment!! There’s still some good school’s out here and I hate that this school has scarred me and my family from ever leaving my kids alone with any other establishment of this nature… I advise any patronesses of self defense or self discipline to steer clear of this establishment!!! Cause the only stranger danger, bully, or threat ⚠️ ⛔️ is the karate🥋 instructor’s, Sensei’s, Shidoshi‘s themselves!!!! All the good reviews for this establishment has been fabricated by the staff themselves… I did my research and from social media residency records of Mauldin, Greenville, and fountain inn with the reviews have either no friends no record of residency or they don’t exist!!! Further more i never seen any of them at any competition training exercise or graduation’s these con artists and pedophile’s go to the extreme to lure parent’s to they’re trap do your research!!! P.s. PARENT’S BE ALERT!!!!!
They will tell you that you can “cancel at any time” yet they don’t answer the phone or return calls when you’re trying to cancel. When you do FINALLY speak to someone they are RUDE!!! They will charge your card multiple months before canceling!! Oh and they charge you a $100 canceling fee. Stay AWAY!!!! There are much better places to send your kid. Ohhhh and check out their Better Business Bureau rating…. I’ll save you the trouble… it’s a F! Enough said
At first everything was great, but after time we learned what the facility is really about. $$$$ The good. The instructors are fantastic and really do a great job with the kids overall, but the management is beyond horrible and make the experience terrible. The BAD You have to sign a year contract(NO exceptions) and on top of that to start you must buy their started pack for any addition $250. My daughter is 6 and was excelling so we were super excited and then we learned about the Monthly/Bi-Monthly testing in order to "earn" new belts. These cost $50 and there is an additional fee if you don't sign up early. At first they had them on dedicated days, but then starting to have them on regular class days. They allow you to wear Karate Shirts in the "off" season, but you have to buy their $25 shirts. This place only cares about taking your money and will charge you any chance they can. You are allowed to Freeze your membership, but you are still on the hook for the 12 month contract. We had to freeze ours and the still charged me for 2 months before I noticed it on my credit card. I went in to work out a refund and was told no refunds even though I have proof of text. Asked to speak to the manager he wasn't available they will not give me a number to call or a schedule of when he is there and the response is he will contact you. It's been over 2 weeks. LOOK ELSEWHERE
Money hungry organization. Pressured into a 12 month contract. Within 24 hours of signing up, I called back saying I did not want to do the contact after all. They told me that we would be able to attend for a month since we already paid but would still have to pay an additional 100 dollars to get out of the contract. After paying the 100 dollars they then called back saying my child can no longer attend and that we cannot complete the month they agreed to. So I paid 260 dollars in total for my child to attend 3 classes. They completely went back on their word, and didn’t care about the circumstances, just the money.
