Great place to train with high skill level athletes
Trained here while prepping for a comp and it was a great experience. Aaron and the students were welcoming, the level is genuinely high, and the rolls were hard but safe. Excellent atmosphere — no ego, everyone helping each other improve. Easy recommendation for anyone visiting or thinking about joining up.
VC & Sarah are amazing teaching my daughter jiu jitsu, and the instructors are awesome. Love BJJ!
What an amazing community they have built at Southside BJJ. My 5yo started there recently and every person we’ve encountered has been nothing but welcoming. There are always plenty of down to earth and friendly faces at each session. The coaches are so interactive with each kid, and always make sure that they are all learning individually and as a team. I can see the coaches’ faces light up with pride when the kids learn a new skill or when they master the technique of one that they’ve been practicing. Also, since being here I have already noticed that the older kids are really good at showing the younger ones what to do - whether that is guiding them to put their hand or leg somewhere or going easy on them so they can practice a move. Clearly, an example of how the coaches have taught these little kids to be good teachers already. Couldn’t be happier with our choice of gym, as I know they’re already teaching our son valuable lifelong skills of respect, discipline and hard work.
We joined last month for my daughter and we have been met with nothing but absolutely wonderful, kind peope. The coaches are so good with the children and everyone is so friendly. Sarah the owner is very helpful and easy to communicate with. Rodney has been doing majority of the children's classes and hes been amazing with my daughter, taking the time to teach her. Shes really enjoying it!! Justin is also fantastic with the kids class!! Really glad we joined.
I joined Southside BJJ Ormeau a couple of months ago. I wanted to do something new and step outside my comfort zone. I have been so blown away by the supportive, fun and caring environment. The coaches are amazing and its honestly like a family where everyone (including women) are accepted and valued. Much love guys, keep up the amazing work xx
