The club offers a safe and friendly environment. The schedule is very flexible. Since training here, my bjj has improved due to a better understanding of weight management and technique. I love that this art has everything from self defence to grappling to striking, to weapons training and most (if not all) of the principles learned in class can be applied to other arts as well as life such as being able to think under pressure. Being able to face down adversity, gaining a better understanding of one's own body mechanics, improved confidence, and being able to flow and adapt to any situation that arises. I have and will continue to recommend this gym to anyone with an interest in self defence, martial art, or just wanting to try something new and exciting.

Kevin is a 3rd degree black belt and an excellent teacher and trainer of self defense in Winnipeg. It can be a rough and unpredictable city, so women, men and children all should have some basic sort of martial arts training to be able to defend themselves if occasions arise. Sign up for Jiu-Jitsu classes to learn from the best in self defense.

The best of the best! After having trained at a few other clubs and having trained in other self defence fields over the last 22 years, Bissett Jiu-jitsu quite simply comes out on top. With its high standards and focus on personal safety, it’s practicality and progressive system, combined with power of Jiu-jitsu, I find it the most empowering training, physically and mentally. With Sensei Kevin’s infectious energy and enthusiastic attitude, you are in for some serious fun, and that’s not even mentioning the personal transformation that one goes through as a result :).

Highly recommended. The techniques are really helpful, classes are fun and the instructor Jen was amazing! I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot of self-defence techniques. Would definitely register for level 2 soon 😊

I’ve been doing martial arts in various capacities for about 15 years now and have found for self defence for real word situations the bisset system is fantastic Sensei Kevin has a natural aptitude for teaching on a level where students can understand and progress at a pace they are comfortable with his classes are as informative as they are entertaining, the sky is the limit at this club they teach what really works
