Phenomenal instructor! Birdman breaks everything down for you step by step.
I’ve been training under Birdman for the past six years. He has an incredible understanding of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and more importantly he has a natural and accessible teaching style which allows him to share that understanding with his students - from beginners on their first day to those with decades of training.
My wife and I first started hearing the legend of "The Birdman" when we moved to a new house in Vero Beach in late 2020. Since then we've been fortunate enough to train with John and learn from enough to know everything we heard was true and then some. John is an amazing and accomplished practitioner in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, and Ginastica Natural, but more importantly than his skill is the passion he has for teaching and the desire to make those around him better. Beginners and advanced students alike will learn just as much from Birdman and Wash n' Fold is a great school for busy professionals wanting to learn the "gentle art" and still be ready to work in the morning and take part in their other hobbies as well. He is a great instructor who truly cares about his students and is committed to creating an incredible training environment and making it an amazing experience all the way around. Come get some rolls in and we'll see you in the spin cycle!
Birdman has a depth of technical knowledge you won’t find anywhere else. He is a rare talent in the world of jiu jitsu.
Amazing and highly technical BJJ instructor. If you want to learn the genuine stuff train with Birdman. Great atmosphere and community!
I have been training with John for six years, over that time I have seen him provide excellent instruction and mentorship to people of all skill levels and ages. John is hungry for knowledge and eager to share it just the same. He has keen sense of responsibility for his students’ safety and always finds a way to make a difficult learning process feel comfortable, fun, and simple. Like good mechanics, great jiu jitsu instructors are hard to find. You’ll find both here, plus laundry as a bonus!
Birdman is a phenomenal and entertaining jiu-jitsu and fitness instructor. He has an incredible grasp of the art, and is able to communicate a great level of technical nuance to even fresh beginners. He's an expert at crafting a training environment which is simultaneously fun and welcoming while still challenging the students to work hard and refine their skills. The classes are safe, organized, and cater to students regardless of their fitness level, age, or experience. As an added bonus if you stick around after class he may share some of his secret grilling recipes!
