I’m only a few classes in but I’m hooked, and it is exactly the kind of facility I was hoping to find. Professor Bill is great and takes time to show and explain the techniques, and throws some stories in that make jiu jitsu relatable to everyday life. Everyone I have been on the mat with has been respectful and helpful, and there is nothing but good energy in the building. It is also a great workout! I truly enjoy the mental and physical challenge, and excited to learn as much as I can.

The highest priority for our daughter is her safety. We came in over a year ago and make no mistake the first day might be overwhelming but Professor Bill assured us that it's normal. In the second visit she wore her GI and was eager to be on the mat. The confidence our daughter has built definitely helped in kindergarten during a bullying incident. Professor Bill and his team helped teach how to neutralize whether from a standing or on your back. All parents love watching the kids during the belt ceremonies and even coming back from a competition to celebrate. Bill's Jiu-jitsu teaches all students respect, confidence and discipline.

My two kids (boy and girl) started classes late last year after shifting from soccer and I can say with absolute conviction they love it. They have not missed kicking the football since joining & have grown from knowing nothing about jiu-jitsu to relishing the opportunity to apply submissions and techniques they learned over the course of these months. It was such a great environment that when my kids challenged me to start as well, i found it impossible to resist. I started two months ago and the level of professionalism and optimism of Professor Bill along with his dedicated and knowledgeable staff was exceptional. Everyone, to include my classmates, is friendly - no egos apply. So if you are cocky, looking to win championships in the gym or destroy your partner, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to learn jiu-jitsu from what I consider a great team and challenge yourself against skilled practitioners, i highly recommend this school. All three of us are fully engaged 3x a week and look forward to many years of discipline and fulfillment!

Our Daughter just started her JIU JITSU Journey here a couple months ago, she’s 7. From the moment we called to set up a meet and greet/observe, and try out session, we felt like we belonged here, we became part of the family. She’s coached, encouraged every step of the way, Professor Bill introduced himself and his team, they all are extremely attentive, and hands on, very passionate about what they do, and most importantly; they care. They learn all the kids’ names, they get to know them in just a matter of 1-2 sessions. They all work together as a team, ensuring a safe and positive atmosphere for everyone to learn and grow in. Many things set them apart from other places, but the best thing is, that Professor Bill and his entire team get on each child’s eye level, when speaking with them, making them feel so respected, and talked to, and they respond to coaching in the best possible way. Our daughter is looking forward to each and every session, she’s learning so much and gaining so much confidence. It’s such a joy to watch this unfold, we are So grateful we found this place, we couldn’t be happier.

We live in Jax metro and my son has been going here since the fall of 2022. Ever since he started coming here, he has been improving in both dicipline and self-defense. Professor Bill is very professional; and has helped my child in Jiu-Jitsu and many other things full with patience. All the coaches are amazing, too and has helped my kid in many amazing techniques and strategies. It is also a great place to make friends. My son has made lots of friends. Professor Bill and his wife Coach Ale run an incredible jiu jitsu studio. They are a family-run business, which we love to support. Professor Bill is a 2-time world champion and holds a 5th degree black belt and has been at this sport since he was a child, proving his dedication to mastering the skills needed to teach kids through adults. As a 49 year old I was looking for a martial art that was effective and good for physical fitness without needing to go to work all banged up. BJJ is that art and Professor Bill is the instructor you need. They teach you BJJ from the ground up in a structured way that builds on prior lessons without throwing you in the deep end. All of the instructors have been top notch and you can tell there's a plan behind what they teach. If you have never done any form of grappling, then BJJ is an excellent way to open your eyes to what happens if a conflict goes to the ground and to learn how to deal with that. As a black belt in Karate and many year student of Aikido, I can tell you that defending yourself on the mat is a whole different world that you need to learn and experience first hand. With BJJ, the Brazilian atmosphere is very welcoming and might be a welcome change for some when compared to the militaristic way how some other styles train. Try it out!

I've been training with Professor Bill for about a year and a half. The culture at this dojo is phenomenal. For starters, Professor Bill and his coaches are amazing with the kids. He teaches great technique, sure, but most importantly, he imparts them with self respect, mutual respect, confidence and the ability to defend themselves. I’m absolutely in love with Bills Brazilian jiu jitsu. Professor Bill and his wife, the instructors, and my fellow classmates are so encouraging, helpful, and friendly. As a woman and complete newbie, I was extremely hesitant to start something like jiu jitsu. But from the very first class, that feeling completely went away! Jiu jitsu can be mentally and physically challenging, but the rewards and lessons you receive are life changing. You won’t regret starting! Thank you Professor Bill!

Started a few months ago with no martial arts background. Bill was extremely receptive and welcoming. His classes are professional, informative, and fun. The other participants are a great group focused on helping everyone get better. It's a fantastic workout and teaches many skills. I highly recommend to ALL!

I can't recommend Bill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu enough. I started training with Professor Bill when I moved to Jacksonville last month. It's been really amazing to find a welcoming community so quickly in my new town. As a 40 year old beginner it was intimidating to walk in the first day but that quickly passed. Many people introduced themselves and made me feel comfortable. The instruction is clear and easy to follow. I am surrounded by knowledgeable people who take the time to ensure I learn proper techniques.

I have been to two of the woman's self defense classes so far. Every time I've attended a class I've walked away with helpful go-to moves that I could use in the streets if something was ever to happen. The class is fun, easy to follow, a workout, and in a positive and professional environment. The owners, Professor Bill and Ali and super sweet and fun to train with. :)

This was one of the best decisions we made for our younger son. Professor Bill is not only a great teacher of the art but he really cares about the students he pours into. He emphasizes respect and character during the time he has with them. If you're thinking about placing your child in the martial arts arena, this is best place you'll find in JAX.

Professor Bill is amazing with kids! He takes the time to explain complex moves to all his students in a way they can understand. Even on days when the class size gets rather big 20-30 kids he still finds a way to get some one on one time with all his students. He strives to teach the next generation and he is a master at his craft. Thank you so very much Professor Bill.

I have been bringing my 6-year-old son here for several months, having specifically sought out BJJ classes for him. And I couldn’t be happier. Instructor Bill and his beautiful wife (and daughter!) have proven to be everything for which I was looking. Great technical instruction, of course....but even more than that, I really love the passion and discipline and character that Instructor Bill seeks to instill into his students. It is INVALUABLE for me as a mom to have the lessons I attempt to teach my son at home being echoed and reiterated on the mat. And honestly, I see it in all of the students....the camaraderie, the positive attitudes, the way the older kids help the younger <3 I’ve never seen anything quite like it in my life....I don’t know many of the other kids, but yet I feel so proud of them all!! It’s pretty special, for sure. An amazing group of kids and instructors alike. I really hope I can continue bringing my son here for many years to come.

I was thinking to try Jiu-jitsu for the long time and when I finally made the decision, I called several places to check them out. Professor Bill took time to really understand my goals, what I was looking to accomplish, my physical condition, any previous experiences, background and talked about culture of his school. He was very welcoming and invited me to come over to check out one of the classes and talk more to get to know each other. He gave me an option to be part of the class or just observe if I preferred. When I first came Professor Bill took his time before the class to give me as much information as possible, answer any question I had and then introduced me to all of his students. The level of professionalism, respect, encouragement from the team and family like environment impressed me from day one! I noticed that everyone was willing to help each other out when it comes to a new technique or a drill. I couldn’t have picked a better place to start my BJJ journey! Whether you have aspirations of competing, getting stronger, improve your martial art skills or just trying to break a sweat I highly recommend joining Professor Bill and his amazing team!

My husband and my two sons have been going to Bill’s for over three years, and we all love it! There are not many activities where parents can actively participate alongside their kids, but they all get to do jiujutsu together 4-5 times a week. It is a great way for them to exercise, and learn great methods of self-defense. Professor Bill is SO great with all the kids, he teaches them self-discipline while still being very patient with them, but they all still have fun! I definitely recommend Bill’s to anyone looking to start jiujutsu.

I highly recommend this dojo to both children and adults that study or looking to study jui jitsu!! My two children take classes 3 times a week and look toward to going every time. Professor Bill and his wife are really great at teaching the children the techniques. They are very patient, kind, and helpful!! They always find ways to keep the children moving and engaged throughout the hour.

Bill's Jiu-Jitsu, that my son attends, I can definitely give my opinion and recommend highly for anyone looking to find an amazing Jiu-Jitsu class. My son is 6 1/2 and started a few weeks ago. The discipline, technique and training he is learning is incredible. He can't wait to go to every class. The attention and experience the professors have and provide each class is amazing. Bill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is hands down the best place to learn, study, and learn Jiu Jitsu. I traveled over 5 hours from North Carolina to Florida just to train in person. It is worth it! They have world-class instructors, a professionally managed facility, and the best Jiu Jitsu instruction for your investment. I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from this fine martial art organization and the hospitality they have shared with me. My life has instantaneously become better because of Professor Bill. He has also built a fantastic training community and culture. Started with my son about a month and half ago. Its been a great experience. Professor knows how to deal with kids and keeps then engaged throughout training. At times it feels like he is an uncle who not only gives out great Ju Jitsu training but he finds a way to interweave great life lessons, the success of the kids seem paramount. I definitely notice a difference in my sons discipline. It really is a great Dojo. As for adults he takes time to make sure you learn the techniques. The trainings are tough but enjoyable.

I’ve had the fortune of training with Professor Bill for some time now. I can attest from countless hours on his mats to his experience and professionalism. Through his kids class, children not only learn techniques but discipline, respect and responsibility. His adult class is a effective way to learn self defense as well as a source of good training, exercise and conditioning. Well worth a visit at the very least.

I was traveling to Jacksonville for the weekend, and needed a place to train. I messaged Professor Bill before arriving in Jacksonville, to see if I could visit his gym. He and his students were very welcoming, and even invited me to stay for a special Krav Maga seminar. The gym was easy to find, very clean, and everyone was very friendly. If you are looking for a gym in Jacksonville, definitely check out Bill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I look forward to training with Professor Bill on my next visit to Jacksonville.

My 10 year old son has been training here for 3 months now. It has been very beneficial to him. In an era where kids lives are ruled by iPhones, tablets and gaming consoles, it can be very difficult getting them interested in any real world activities. This school was an excellent choice for overcoming that challenge. It has helped my son build strength, endurance, agility and most importantly, confidence. He has made new friends that he always looks forward to training with at the next class. After earning his first belt stripe, he has gained a special sense of achievement that I'm sure will help shape his drive for success in all aspects of his life. Thank you Professor Bill for opening and running such a quality school in this area.

On 7/27/21, we entered a six month contract with Bill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Within a week we regretted the timing of our initiating the lessons due to covid-19 numbers, and I approached the owner ("Professor Bill") about it. He assured me that he had no problem with giving us the time that we needed to feel comfortable again with the in person lessons, and that our son's spot was secure. His exact words about the mutually agreed hiatus at the time were: "your account is frozen until you're comfortable bringing your son back in." That's what we did on the week of 2/12/22. We called beforehand. He remembered us and our agreement, and he welcomed our son back. Tonight, in the middle of my son's lesson, he called me into his office and began interrogating me about my son's membership and what I intended to do about it. He said that the membership is expired. I calmly reminded him of our agreement. After all, we started the hiatus almost immediately after initiating the contract. 2/12-7/6 is a little shy of five months, and we'd signed up for and paid for six. He said: "You think you can just bring your son here when you feel like it?! You think that's how this works?!" When I pointed out that we'd not yet received six months of lessons as agreed, the man looked me right in the eye and called me a liar. To be clear, he didn't imply it; he came out and said exactly those words to my face, while reneging on his end of our agreement. I've never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully by any owner of any business in my life. I told him that his behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable, and my son and I left in mid-lesson, never to return. Edit: as you can see in Bill's response, he is still falsely accusing me of lying. He is well aware that at no point in our conversation did I misstate any facts, and that it is he who is reneging on our agreement while slanderously attacking my character. Also note that he does not refute the fact that he flat out called me a liar to my face, but in the same breath, falsely asserts that "Professionalism is the foundation that his academy is built on" and that "he takes it very seriously."

If you join the membership forever, you just pay $135 a month, but if you want to cancel it, you need to pay at least 3 more months fee and the cancellation fee. Because you sign the third party contract and no one really take the responsibility to manage the membership, they only manage the membership fee! So before you join the club, think about it, and if you want to cancel, just cancel, don’t freeze your account, it will cost you more money.
