Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gym - BJJ is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground-fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit. I'm so glad Woody is an awesome instructor. He is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. He's amazing with my kids and takes his time to get to know them and how they best respond in training. My husband and I also attended and I love the environment, the knowledge, and the strength I have gained over the last 8 months. Great instructor for kids and adults, always clean inside and out. We love it here!

Base Camp brazilian jiu jitsu has made such an impact on our lives. I'm glad we found coach Woody. The last three years for my son were filled with experiences! Life lessons, building character, great jiujitsu skills, winning competitions, and even more! I'm so proud to say he is a better kid for this. Jiujitsu will always be apart of his life now. THANK YOU to ALL his teammates and coaches!! ❤️

What an honor to be able to train with Professor Hosler! The high level instruction is precisely articulated, and done with complete patience for even the newest member. The mats are clean and spacious. The morning crew is extremely welcoming and friendly. What a great place to train!!
Got the opportunity to train here as a visiting student while I was in Siskiyou County for a few weeks. I reached out to Woody ahead of time and he was very welcoming. The gym members I encountered were friendly and the instruction was great. I enjoyed Woody’s focus on doing things properly and technically sound. I would highly recommend training here if you get the opportunity.

I contacted Woody while I was on a road trip to Mt Shasta, Woody welcomed me to attend a drop in class while I was in town. It was a great experience a great team who were very welcoming. Woody is incredibly knowledgeable and helped me with adjustments on a couple techniques I was previously working on, as well as teaching new techniques and positioning. Thank you Woody and Base Camp Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I definitely recommend anyone in the area to attend Base Camp.
My son, 8 years old, took lessons while we were visiting from Italy. Woody and his students made him feel welcomed immediately. He loved his lessons from the first day. As a teacher, Woody is skillful in explaining and showing the students what they need to do, while encouraging them to meet his high expectations. It was an excellent experience for my son.
Great place! I went to the afternoon no-gi class, and learned a new guard pass. I’m a white belt, and passing guard has been one of the most difficult challenges to understand so far. Even after just one class, I feel like I finally have something in my arsenal that I can use consistently. Thank you, Woody!

Base Camp is a fantastic gym with great coaches. Woody is an incredible instructor with a great knowledge base and ability to communicate techniques and concepts. Having moved to the area and coming from a larger BJJ gym in Roseville it was immediately apparent the differences at Base Camp. Instruction feels more catered and conceptualized rather the typical cookie-cutter, “warm-up, one technique, and roll” gyms that often throw you to the wolves to get smashed from higher belts. Woody fields Q and A on new techniques to make sure you understand the subtleties and retains an impressive recollection of your personal progress and needs. My daughter started BJJ here at 4 years old as well and has grown to show amazing progress and a passion for BJJ. Base Camp is a gem hidden away in the mountains. If you are interested in starting BJJ and are experiencing the typical apprehensions and walking through the door the first time, rest assured you will be greeted warmly and Base Camp.
I am a new white belt and I appreciate the great coaching and welcoming environment. Multiple classes throughout the day makes it easy to attend. I look forward to going to each class. It’s a great workout and fun. If you live in Siskiyou County, you should check it out.

Great environment from anyone beginner to advanced. Clean mats, excellent instruction and a very welcoming team. As a school owner myself I'd come back and train here any time I'm in town!
My friend and I train as white belts. We were passing through town and dropped in. Woody gave us a free class and let us borrow loaner gi's to train in. He runs a clean gym, and was professional and accomidating.

Great place, good people. If you you want to start bjj but are nervous the hardest part is walking in the door on first day. Walk in and give it a try. You won't regret it.
Love! Base Camp Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a family friendly, community oriented place to learn jiu jitsu. I am 5’2”, 52, 105 pound female and I have learned to safely grapple with (and sumbit!) guys and gals more than half my age and twice my weight. I have gained confidence, fitness and it is way better for my mind than doing crossword puzzles :) I encourage everyone to give it a try!
Woody is the greatest! So glad he is bringing BJJ to Siskiyou County!
