  Incredible team, clean facility, great community and environment for all levels! I visited a few gyms prior to meeting Helio and his team and I quickly found that this was what I was looking for. From competition prep, kids classes, and the staff with different martial arts backgrounds, I highly recommend trying it out for a week and you'll feel the difference.

  I’ve been taking my kids to Check Mat Temecula for a few months now, and I have to say, it’s been a fantastic experience. The moment we walked in, I was impressed by how friendly and welcoming everyone was. They make sure every child feels comfortable and excited about their classes. The instructors are amazing with the kids. They manage to balance discipline with fun, which keeps the children engaged and motivated. What I appreciate the most is the strong sense of community. Everyone is very encouraging, making it a great environment for the children to learn and grow. It’s been wonderful to see my kids not only improve their skills but also gain confidence and build friendships. If you’re looking for a place where your kids can learn martial arts in a positive and supportive environment, Check Mat Temecula is definitely worth checking out!

  I’ve known Professor Helio and Professor Lari since the start of Checkmat Temecula back in the beginning of 2019. I had to part ways temporarily to start my career in Law Enforcement, but always knew where my Jiu Jitsu home was. I’ve travelled around and trained at several Jiu Jitsu schools since I started my career, but I eventually made my way back home and at the beginning of this year I resumed my passion for Jiu Jitsu with Checkmat Temecula. My loyalty to Professor Helio and Checkmat Temecula speaks for itself. We are Family. We are Friends. We are Checkmat Temecula.

  I have been a student of Head Coach and Professor, Helio Barthem since August of 2019; I cannot praise him enough for his Jiu-Jitsu & Life journey — for what he continues to provide for his students day in and day out. Especially thru the pandemic last year!! His curriculum and instruction is AMAZING.. Good for EVERYONE!! He provides a clean space to train for all levels of Jiu-jitsu practitioners — the beginner, the novice and the competitor!!! He has helped changed my life in ways I cannot explain — physically, mentally and emotionally he has helped me grow to be a better person in life and a better training partner for all my teammates, no matter the skill or fitness level!! ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS is what I appreciate the most. If you have never tried Jiu-Jitsu before, the team and school that he has built will truly having for coming back for more and more; AND MORE!!!

  Checkmat Temecula is hands down one of my favorite places! Not just for my kids or myself but because this whole team has become family! We love Professor Helio, Coach Larissa, Marcus and Frenchy. They are fantastic teachers and just amazing human beings all together. Last June, I moved my older son home from Maui where he started Jiu-Jitsu but sadly quit quickly after starting... I put him, my little one and my nephew into Checkmat's kids classes and they loved it from the first day! They've adapted and bonded so well! Professor Helio has not only represented what a great coach is but has become an important role model as well in my boys' lives. They're learning self defense, self discipline and most importantly, respect. We could not be happier since joining! LOVE LOVE LOVE Checkmat Temecula
