My son has been attending Baeplex going on two years now. We truly enjoy our time there. The staff and instructors are AMAZING! Baeplex has a great after-school program, summer program and they even have parents night out, to give mom and dad a break. If you're looking for a safe and professional place to send your little ones, I would totally recommend!

Baeplex is an extension of family . With core values and integrity at its basis of education and a healthy mixture of defense and proper etiquette of manners . Children and adults alike learn and benefit from the teachings of Master Horn and Master Ash. My kids normally attend the later classes after school and enjoy their time with Coach Luke, he’s is always positive and energetic and ready to assist and teach. We love coming to Baeplex

I cannot share enough stars for this place. Amazing and I love how they are run by a family. They teach wonderful life lessons while teaching kids defense. I’ve been taking my child here for a year and even did a summer camp with them. You definitely won’t be disappointed if you choose them.

My son was there for Master Ash's summer camp several years ago, soon stepdaughter this year. My son learned a lot there, was just recently talking about it. I liked how they shifted some of the program around when they saw kids playing games during quiet/break time. I really respected that he was flexible with his summer camp program emphasizing team building than sticking with a ridged course. It's also a blast when your kid is counting in Korean, I think it was Korean.

Fantastic opportunity for our children!! Mr. Ash and crew run a quality organization and the kids always have a great time — while learning important life lessons about hard work and respect. They also are thoughtful about days off and observances, offering classes and workshops to help parents and provide engaging options for kids. Their Trunk or Treat event was an awesome way to give back to the community and something we plan to attend every year they're willing to put it on. Highest possible recommendation!!

Master Ash and his team provide a family friendly environment where we can strengthen our minds and bodies. As someone with former Martial Arts and combat training, I still find a rewarding challenge while keeping it fun for the family. In today's society, discipline and respect are often overlooked, but not at Baeplex. Discipline, Respect, merit based rewards keep kids (and adults) engaged while seeding important concepts that can help society as a whole. I'm glad our family found Baeplex. We arrived by sheer luck, but we plan to stick around by choice and the positive impact it has on our family. Thank you Master Ash for your dedication and passion of Taekwondo and Martial Arts.

When we first started attending Baeplex my daughter had some behavior problems that concerned us. We have been attending Baeplex for one year and I have Aden a significant improvement in her her attitude, respect, and most importantly her confidence. All of the instructors take their time with each student, they know them individually and help to improve their strengths and work on their weaknesses. I’m so thankful for a safe and authentic place for my daughter to attend.

We have been members at BAEPLEX since 2019 and have been thrilled with the experiences my son is able to enjoy - lessons, parents night out, summer camps, birthday parties, and a variety of other functions throughout the year. The instructors are focused on developing not only the physical and mental aspects of martial arts, but also on personal growth and maturity - all within a SAFE and FUN environment. We have seen tremendous growth in our son in these past years. Many thanks to Master Ash, Master Horn, Mr. Erik, and all of the staff at BAEPLEX for investing in our son and our family!

I am from Korea, and my child learned Taekwondo in Korea. I think I am lucky to learn Korean traditional Taekwondo at BAEPLEX. They are too kind and professional. I wanted to brag about them to my Korean friends. The facilities are clean, too. We will be with BAEPLEX for a long time. I want to brag to many people.

We started out with a $20/child trial period. Ended up enrolling for a year. Our kids love it. There is already a major confidence and drive change in our 10 year old son. We have tried many sports, with varied levels of investment. At Baeplex our children can participate and excel to their individual goals, participate or not as often as we/they choose. No drama, no fuss. So much easier than rec league sports. Kudos to Master Ash, Horne and Eric.

Initially, I started at Baeflex with my eldest son. He was four years old and appeared to catch on to taekwondo well. And then there was my youngest three-year-old son, that I thought was not ready for expensive and concentrated taekwondo lessons. Well, after being convinced that starting both of them at the same time would be beneficial, I reluctantly had two sons attending classes. HOWEVER, I essentially paid to watch my youngest son run around the mats for some months—desperately wanting to reverse this decision to pay for him to have playtime!!!! Prior to me pulling out my hair and causing bodily harm to my youngest son, I took to heart the advice that Master Ash gave me: indicating that I should let time be the predictor of my sons interest. And now, two years later, I’m beaming with joy as I watch my youngest son actually excel over his brother in taekwondo at Baeflex! This is one of the best decisions that I have made—- by investing in my sons’ future success in joining the Baeplex family!!!!

Master Ash and Master Horne are both amazing with young kids. My six year old grandson is a student at Baeplex and he is getting a great education as well as learning to be disciplined. He is also better focussed than he was prior to starting Tae Kwon Do. I can't recommend Baeplex highly enough.

Leadership is a big word. It touches all aspects of the Baeplex community. Self-leadership, leadership of others, and leadership in groups. These areas touch most all aspects of life in one way or another. Physical fitness and Tae Kwon Do skills are two things you'll take with you, but the soft skills like accountability, community, commitment, etc. are equally or more valuable.

My son has been doing TaeKwonDo at Baeplex for over 3 years now. We initially started taking him there because he showed an interest in martial arts and because he was very shy. We wanted him to build his confidence. He attends their after school program, for which we are especially grateful! Baeplex picks him up from school, provides a snack, homework assistance and while he's there he attends a martial arts class. As busy parents, it's awesome to have a trusted and reliable place for our child to attend. When he's there, we know that he's well taken care of and is learning life skills. He's grown from a shy child to a leader among his peers.

We have been impressed beyond words with BAEPLEX! Master Ash, Master Horn, and the entire staff have been incredibly welcoming, supportive and attentive to the needs of our family. The instructional time is a great blend of fun and fitness to keep kids of all ages engaged. In addition, the instructors take the time to instill good work ethics, discuss life skills and challenge them to develop their character in healthy ways. I couldn’t me more pleased with the positive outcome we’ve experienced during our time at BAEPLEX. Whether it be a birthday party, summer camp, ongoing lessons, parent’s night out, or whatever fun event is on their calendar – do yourself (and your kids!) a big favor and GO TO BAEPLEX!! You will not be disappointed!

My son has been a student at Baeplex for over a year and it has been a wonderful experience. We decided to celebrate my son's 6th birthday there last month and it was AMAZING! Master Ash, Master Horne, and Mr. Erik went above and beyond in making the day magical for my son and his friends (38 children + parents). They even accommodated Balloon Light Sabers into the Tae Kwon Do activities to cater to the Star Wars Jedi themed party. Master Horne dressed up in full costume as a Jedi Master to surprise the birthday boy and hand out Jedi Training Certificates to the kiddos! It was above and beyond the best birthday celebration!

Master Ash has been an incredible partner with the School Health Initiative Program (SHIP) for many years. Master Ash provides quality and engaging instruction for our students in our after school Challenge Clubs. He is always willing to support extra curricular activities, such as Kickin' with Dads at James Blair Middle School. What I love most about Master Ash, is his attention to details and making sure that safety is a key component of instruction. Finally, he makes learning the fundamentals of martial arts fun and exciting!

I do Baeplex Tae Kwon Do lessons with my kids, and I can confirm that it is fun for all ages. They also run camps when school is out and even "parents night out" events from time to time. Friendly staff. There are leadership opportunities as the kids progress through the program. There is occasional instruction in things like dealing with bullies. It isn't just about kicking and punching. It is a place where kids can increase their discipline, focus, leadership, and self-confidence while having fun.

Baeplex is like a family to us! My son has an awesome experience, including taekwondo skills, which allows him a self defense developing activity. Exercise and fun game times, play time and snack breaks, and also very importantly bounding and developing friendships and busting the inner confidence! I'm extremely grateful and very pleased with my son's personality outcomes and recommend to all my family and friends! Either in camp for the summer periods or after school pick up, I know I can always be worry-free!

Moving to Williamsburg, VA about 4 years, I wanted to enroll my son, who was 5 at the time) into a quality TaeKwondo School. The goals being to allow my son to learn a martial art, learn about flexibility, teach responsibility, and allow him to meet other children. Not knowing any of the schools in the area, we followed a recommendation from a friend for Baeplex. We had our son enroll into the school it was family friendly, offered nice programs, and the instruction and fellowship was great. We have since stayed with Baeplex, after their move to their new location. I have joined to take classes with my son, so that we can go through classes together (as opposed to only watching). I have received a 1st Dan from another school from our home state, so I have prior experience in TaeKwando. I have enjoyed the classes with and without my son, and I think this is an excellent program, in both physical fitness and technique, this school has been exceeding expectations. In addition to classes, the Master Instructors at Baeplex also host a variety of community events, summer camps, day programs to help parents with school closings, and competitions. We highly recommend Baeplex if you are interested in learning a martial art that is for beginners to advanced level belts in a family friendly and supportive environment. My son is currently is 8 years old, and has achieved a advance blue belt rank in the program, and has learned a great deal.

With over 26 years with the Baeplex family I can honestly say it's a great place to grow. The entire staff and environment are welcoming and knowledge full. They will make you feel as though you have a home away from home and a family you can learn, train and love. The life lessons and relationships that you gain with stay with you forever and as you grow maybe there are lessons you want to pass down to the next generation. These are the people that can help.

If you are looking for a martial school, I highly recommend Baeplex in Williamsburg, VA. With over 32 years experience in Martial Arts, Baeplex's Master Joseph Ash is no stranger in the martial arts industry. His style of teaching has not only helped many individuals from all age groups attaining their physical goals, but also improving their overall attitude towards exercise, healthy and positive lifestyle. In addition, Master Joseph Ash's experience as a father enables him to have a comprehensive understanding on how martial arts can help transforming your kids into tomorrow's leaders.

Baeplex Family Martial Arts is a fantastic Martial Arts School in Williamsburg, VA! I have been going there since I was 12 years old. At Baeplex not only will you learn martial art skills, but character as well. The Baeplex "family" is full of happy people who are grateful for the time and effort the instructors spend to make them better physically and mentally. If you are new to the area and are looking for a Martial Arts school, I would highly recommend Baeplex. They have made a huge impact on my life and hopefully they can do the same for you. Sam

This is my review on baeplex and taekwondo as a whole in hopes it may help someone deciding if they want to take taekwondo or whether they want to go here specifically. Baeplex is a great family friendly dojo with programs such as their after school program readily available for use. The dojo from my time there was clean and had the appropriate equipment for training. If your looking for a place to get a good workout, sport to take, or maybe a place for your kids to go after-school baeplex is a great choice, I will say that I personally found it to be a bit expensive and had to stop taking it after awhile. Now to the martial arts as a whole. In my experience I find taekwondo to be ineffective as a self defence martial art. In sparring we weren't allowed to throw punches or perform takedowns. I found the wrist escspes and "anti bully" strategies to be ineffective in a real world setting. Not saying they don't work but i have since found there are better ways of getting out of those situations. That coupled with their lack of punching and ground training I can't suggest this as an effective self defence art. I'm sorry but a "tiger claw strike" is simply not gonna cut it in a street fight. I felt as though we were getting belts too fast with not enough experience to justify the rank and that the instructors were a little too focused on safety, example: we were not allowed to punch boards it wasn't considered safe. Tl:Dr To recap: baeplex is a great family friendly dojo. It's a place to go after school and workout with clean facilities. However, the skills you learn in the dojo I beleive will not be of much help outside the dojo. The curriculum is narrow and I will admit I have a bias against martial arts that give black belts to kids. I hope you found my review helpful. All jokes aside I promise that I am not here to bash the instructors and make fun of the art but to inform you on my take on the sport and my time here. I wish everyone the best of luck with there training and hope you all lead safe and Happy lives.

CAUTION $225.00! Baeplex is a wonderful, "family", environment with instructors that really seems to care. The facilities are beautiful. They have helped my son tremendously BUT they bait and switch regarding fees. When we signed up, we were NEVER told the complete story where rates were concerned. I greatly appreciate what they have taught my son and the patience that they have shown, however, my heart was broken to have to tell him that he could no longer attend. I was told that in order for my son to continue beyond his Advanced Yellow Belt, I would need to increase my monthly tuition from $150 to $225! $150 was already high but to ask for $225 / mo. for a 6 year old is over the top. My daughter receives up to 9 hours per week of professional club volleyball coaching for a fraction of that. TKD is only 2 to 3 hours per week. You will be told that everything is included, testing fees, etc. but it still doesn't add up. The only reason that I am writing this review is in the hopes that another child isn't disappointed because of the fee increase after the first year. Had I known, I wouldn't have signed up. There is NEVER an instance where we would pay $225 for recreational TKD, 2 to 3 hours per week!
