Taking jiu-jitsu has been a fantastic experience! I've been going twice a week for almost ten months now, and I look forward to it every week! I'd never done anything more athletic than dance and gymnastics as a kid, so this was a big leap for me as I'm now a 35 year old mother of two with absolutely no background in any martial arts. Iris, along with all of the other coaches, fosters an amazing (and fun) environment where they make you feel comfortable asking questions. I love the emphasis on not just learning how to perform well in class, but how to be a great training partner as well. My oldest son (7 years old), just started in the new kids kickboxing class and he really enjoyed it! There's something for everyone, no matter if you're an energetic 7 year old, or if you're his 35 year old mother who wishes she had half his energy.

I’ve been attending Jiu Jitsu classes at AMAC since February and absolutely love it. The coaches and students are very welcoming, supportive and go out of their way to give individual attention and coaching to students. It can be very intimidating to try a new sport like Jiu Jitsu but AMAC makes it a comfortable and easy process.

Awesome academy! A very knowledgeable staff that is extremely welcoming to everyone. Alan Baker is very talented and an excellent teacher with great passion for martial arts. His knowledge and passion is something that has clearly passed and been spread to all the instructors and students. The academy is always super clean and well maintained. I would give it 6 stars if possible.

I have been training at AMAC for almost 20 yrs now. I came there as a police officer looking to add to my self defense training. Almost 20 yrs later, I am still there and never plan on leaving. The training I have received there has completely changed my mind and body. I am 48 yoa now and consider myself to be in the better condition, physically and mentally, than most of the people I know my age and even younger. The information taught at AMAC is 2nd to none. I use the term information because at AMAC there is more than just martial arts being taught. I've learned more about taking care of my mind and body than i would have ever expected. The school continuously grows in it's knowledge base and this is mainly due to the continuous seeking out of knowledge by its owner, Alan Baker. Sifu Baker is constantly bring back, not just the newest, but the best information in the world of self defense. I was shocked to see that someone with a resume of experience like his would continue to seek out more training and actually earn more black belts and certifications. He is widely sought out as a trainer of many police and military. The staff at AMAC is extremely experienced and from all walks of life. I'm proud and humbled to be a member of the instructor team. I have never experienced a more knowledgeable and diverse staff. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and personable. The environment is safe, clean and family oriented. I can train as hard as I want but never have to worry about getting injured by some guy that is only there to hurt people. And, i would have no problems having my child participate in the kids programs. To anyone looking to study martial arts, learn self defense, increase their fitness and health, or just make a life change...I would 100% recommend AMAC.

LOVE AMAC!!! I have been going here for about 6 months, and it has been such a great experience. I was brand new at jiu jitsu, and it can be scary starting something new as an adult. Coach Iris and Dennis are so helpful, patient, and really make everyone feel welcome.

We love AMAC! Our sons (5 and 9 yo) have both been practicing jiu jitsu here since they were 5 yo. Initially, we were looking for an activity for our rambunctious older son to do and thought martial arts would be great to instill respect and discipline while getting his extra energy out. The kids' classes at AMAC are wonderful. The coaches are amazing and continually go above and beyond. This past year, our older son was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD, and he began to struggle in class. His coaches treated him with patience and grace, giving him the space and support he needed. He's back to enjoying himself in class which makes me feel so grateful. AMAC isn't simply a gym; it's a family. I can't recommend them highly enough!

The instructor are amazing. My 7 year old son has been doing lessons for just over a year now and it's the one after school event he absolutely loves. I can't give enough high praise. If you want to take lessons this is the place you need to go.

A fantastic place to train. They offer a large variety of different martial arts to suit your need. Alan Baker has been training martial arts pretty much his whole life and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on to you. All of AMAC’s coaches/staff are super friendly and knowledgeable as well. They are always ready to help you out anyway they can. The facility is very clean and located right off of 575. AMAC is the best around and I invite anyone that is even slightly interested in self defense or martial arts to stop by and try it out, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I both attend AMAC and LOVE IT! They are very professional and take the time to make sure you get the techniques correct so that you do not hurt yourself or your partner. The instructors are very knowledgeable and have the credentials to back up their knowledge. I attend the women's class and the instructor has been taking Jiu Jitsu over 17 yrs and does a great job breaking the moves down into understandable steps.

Meeting Alan this year was a gift. He sought out my services but in turn I was served! Having Alan in my life makes me think on a higher level. Sifu/Guru/Kru/Coach Alan Baker is truly an asset to the Atlanta martial arts community and one of a kind. Very rarely do you find an individual who has dabbled and attained instructorship in many martial arts as Mr. Baker. He is also very good at portraying and passing these arts off in a manner made for anyone regardless of skill, size, shape etc. I recommend the AMAC center for any serious martial artist or anyone wanting to embark on real life self defense in a nice , friendly atmosphere or for anyone looking to cover any and all aspects of combat. Fabulous center. My child is in the youth program and my husband is in the adult program-- both are absolutely top-notch. The youth program is taught in a fun and respectful manner and the adult program is just the right combination of intensity and support. Five stars for sure!

I have twice been the guest of AMAC as an assistant Instructor for training events held at the Center, and I cannot speak highly enough about Sifu Alan Baker, his staff and his facilities. I was very impressed with Sifu Alan's expertise and knowledge in both creating and managing a top-notch martial arts school, focused on bringing the best experience and service possible to their students. It was evident that the staff at the Atlanta Martial Arts Center shared Sifu Alan's passion for service and professionalism. Two things that stood out during my visits to the Center were the focus on student progression and safety. The Instructor staff at the Center were attentive and tuned in to their students, and cleanliness/hygiene were obvious priorities at this facility, from the floor mats to the restrooms. This is a feature not to be taken lightly, lol! I highly recommend visiting the Atlanta Martial Arts Center and have great confidence in the many benefits of learning from and working with Sifu Alan and his staff!

Great place to come and train. Wish I can come up here more often and train with Sifu Alan and his team but I live in Texas. I had the pleasure of meeting Sifu Alan back in 2010 when training KFM. Since then I've been to Atlanta Martial Arts Center a few times to explore more training and cool things about AMAC. It's through Sifu Alan I had the chance to meet Andy Norman cofounder of KFM & founder of Defence Lab, Erik Paulson founder of CSW, & Tim Waid PTK-SMF. Also this past weekend my team and I at Texas Defense Academy had the pleasure of having Sifu Alan for a CSW Seminar. It was a blast, we learn a lot in both days. Now I'm looking forward for more training and learning from Sifu Alan Baker. The man is very humble, very friendly and his team cracks me up every time I'm there. There's no doubt that AMAC has the best training programs in the area. I highly recommend AMAC if you are looking for a place to get a good and solid training. -Edwin

Our son started at Atlanta Martial Arts Center several months ago upon turning 5yrs old. We are very impressed with the school, the instructors, and the program itself. We love the fact that the kids program is a blend of several different martial arts and teaches them solid fundamentals to build upon. I have been fortunate enough to know Sifu Alan Baker for many years. He is one of the best Instructors out there and comes highly recommended by world renowned Instructors. He has a vast amount of knowledge in multiple arts and is always growing as a Martial Artist and Instructor. He constantly works on improving his Academy, students and associations. As an instructor he is very friendly and has a gift of knowing how to connect with people making them feel comfortable around him and in his Academy. He can motivate anybody to work hard and achieve their goals- not only in Martial Arts but in Life as well. He is able to take the Arts he offers and put them in many different scenarios- Self Defense- Sport Fighting- Military Training- Police training. He also can adapt the arts to various situations. Sifu Alan is a very well rounded Martial Arts Instructor and he trains his staff to be as well. Everyone at his Academy is very friendly and the Staff is very knowledgeable. If you're looking for a martial arts school this is the place to go. They teach several styles, and the instructors are certified by some of the top instructors in the world. The atmosphere is great and the instructors are very professional. The classes structured for you to get the most out of your training, and private classes are available too. Highly recommend them. I plan joining again soon, as I took some time off when my kids were born.

I started at Atlanta Martial Arts Center (AMAC) in 2006. During that time I have trained in a lot of varying systems. That is one of the best things about Sifu Alan Baker and AMAC. He continues to learn completely new systems or constantly adds to the ones he already knows. When you come here, you are learning state-of-the-art! There is never a stale moment.

I think the biggest compliment I can pay AMAC is that you're treated like family and feel totally at home. No egos here. Nobody looking to pummel you. Each person from Sifu Alan to a newbee like me is looking to help each other reach their full potential. I did my research before choosing AMAC and was thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and knowledge of the martial arts. There is something here for everyone. Seminars are also held here at a regular basis and Sifu Alan doesn't stop short on bringing in some real professionals. Many classes to choose from with times to fit every schedule (I work in an Emergency Room). Come in and see Iris and be blown away by her welcoming smile. All your questions will be answered and you will feel no pressure or intimidation. Just real people with a love of the martial arts.

I started training at Atlanta Martial Arts Center back in 2008 learning a few of the different styles they teach there. It wasn't until I tried Garcie Jiu Jitsu that I found what I was looking for, a mix of self defense and an extreme workout. Before I knew it I had lost 25 lbs in a short time and had a blast doing it! I find now that even under extreme conditions, I can focus and keep calm due to the training I have received at Atlanta Martial Arts Center. This place is a school for learning not a meat head gym. Anyone can learn there and learn from one of the best, Sifu Alan Baker. He is a rare breed of knowledge and skill, and he pulls from all of the arts he holds multiple black belts in. He teaches you the technical way and then a twist you might like. It keeps the classes fresh and fun. Most of his staff have been with him for many years and are great group of people with great knowledge that they are willing to share. I would highly recommend AMAC to anyone!

The first thing that I noticed and appreciated about AMAC was that there is great focus on real world application of fighting techniques ,a devotion to the evolution of self and not a strictly cage-based/MMA mindset. Sifu Alan Baker is a world class teacher and every instructor at AMAC is extremely knowledgeable, patient and has been driven to help me achieve whatever goal I am willing to put the time into. It didn't take long for me to feel like I was and am part of the AMAC family. A thing that I feel grateful and lucky to be a part of. Excellent Instructors, excellent facility, excellent atmosphere.

The place if filled up with wonderful students and staff, they really make you feel like you are part of the family everyday. The instructors are highly trained and are very skillful, no ego or what so ever! Despite the friendly environment, the school owner, Sifu Alan, is by far one of the best instructor I have ever seen! He is got great skill sets and knowledge that will amaze you day by day, and he is constantly researching and growing his knowledge and skills. I have known Sifu Alan Baker for over 14 years of my life. Having travelled and trained with many martial artists and martial art teachers, Sifu Alan is by far one of the best instructors I have ever had. Alan is a wonderful human being, filled with knowledge and passion in the arts that he teaches. He is a very skilled martial artists as well, with unprecedented instructorships from world renown martial art teachers. The Atlanta Martial Arts Center has the best training facility I have ever seen in the country. The mat space is huge! There are two rooms for training, one that is completely matted and the other that has wooden flooring for urban training purposes. The instruction at the school is top notch, and all teachers are highly educated in their respective arts. I believe that cross training multiple arts is essential to self-defense in this new era, and the Atlanta Martial Arts Center has some of the best arts to cross train in. For anyone who is looking for self-defense, motivation, encouragement, a good workout, health benefits, to get better training in the arts, I highly recommend this school. They have a great staff, a great training facility, great education, and a great price for training!

I can honestly say that being a student at AMAC has been one of the most positive experiences of my life. I’ve personally always had the motto that continued growth is essential to life, and the school exemplifies this to the fullest. Your first step in the door of the school makes you feel welcome. The greetings and feeling of belonging that you get are not just portrayed by the instructors, but by the other students as well. This same sense of belonging goes well beyond your first step in the door. Every second in class also feels like a session where everyone is available to push you to the next level. And this is never done in an overwhelming matter as well. The instructors are always there to give you and hand, and the other students are there to do the same. One of the first things you’ll notice is there is no ego at this school. A higher ranking in no way, shape, or form means a higher level of ego. Everyone there is willing to help whomever to advance to the level they want to be at. The level of respect is only one aspect of the draw to Atlanta Martial Arts Center. The school itself is a student in its own form. The instructors constantly contact their students looking for ways to advance just as the students do in class. Since I’ve been at the school, I’ve been contacted on a regular basis to see how my training is going, and I’ve been asked what the school can do as a whole to improve. The art form I currently concentrate in, Jeet Kune Do, is a study that preaches constant evolution into your own style, and combines other studies into its own. The school also does this on a daily basis, taking in ideas from students and teachers alike. I came to Atlanta Martial Arts Center through a recommendation from a friend, not knowing what to expect and not expecting to leave as a student of the school. I left after that first day as not only a student, but an actual part of a group and that I could not be without.

AMAC is more than a place to learn martial arts; it is a new found family. As a “newb” to the world of martial arts I was very intimidated to sign up, however. Let me assure you these guys and gals welcome you with open arms. I have met some of the nicest and knowledgeable people at AMAC. If you have a question, they have an answer. Any time a student is having a hard time understanding or performing, they go out of their way to assist until you have eliminated your weakness. I personally love the fact that the staff, including Sifu, will take the time to call and check on you if you have been missing class. They really do care and this is what it takes for a leader to ensure your success. AMAC truly is an ego-free environment providing the best martial arts training. If you are willing to apply yourself, you are guaranteed to succeed and the staff/senior students will make sure you do no matter what it takes. I can personally recall multiple times that I have been training and senior students drop everything they are doing in order to correct my flaws. I feel honored to be a part of AMAC.

Simply put this place is a five star Martial Arts Center for Men,Women and Children. My wife and I live in Cleveland Tn and make the drive down to AMAC as often as we can for the amazing training. Sifu Alan Baker and his staff always make everyone feel comfortable and at home,not something you see at most Martial Arts locations . If you are looking for a top tier gym in the Atlanta area this is the one.

MOTIVATION AND TRAVEL CHANNEL S

On December 2nd I flew into Atlanta airport for the 3 day event of living mechanics BJJ. I was not happy with the lack of service I got from one of the Instructors and the fact that Sifu Baker defended the actions of his instructor was disappointing to say the least. He told me that in the future I should stick with the same partner I started with. Not a total disappointment I did learn some new things and the even did challenge me. This was my first event there and will be my last. I don’t think you should come to this event by yourself because the support just isn’t there and you may or may not have a training partner. Got a partner on day 1 who was coughing a lot, more on that later. Second day I switched up my partner because he was coughing. I ended up testing positive for Covid after I left. I asked one of the Instructors whom worked there for help I think his name was Dennis and he was busy having his conversation and told me to work in with the others. Some scenarios there were 2 person drills so if you were the 3rd guy you wouldn’t get the training. Not acceptable if you’re flying in out of town and paying thousands of dollars just to be there. I certainly hope in the future they treat Brazilians, veterans, firefighters and police officers better in the future I did all 3 in the military and in the civilian world.
