Dropped in while in town for work. Everyone was friendly and I got some solid rolls in!

As someone with two left feet, zero athletic inclination, and kinesthetic sense, Ares BJJ provides exceedingly patient instruction and a calm space to practice

Dropped in for an open mat today. Got a ton of rolls in and everyone was super friendly. Highly recommend checking Ares out if you're in the area or training here full time if you're local! 🤙 My wife also had a great time with the women's instructor, Cortney. We will both be coming back! Also... I've never seen SO much mat space! 👍👍

This place is great. I travel a lot for work and am always looking for places to train. Trained here early in the year and enjoyed the experience. The instructors are great and the atmosphere is top notch. When I travel for work back in the same area, I make it a point to be close to this location to train with everyone again. Can't wait to be back back on the mats with a bunch of great people.

My children attend Ares BJJ. Since attending my son's teachers have noticed a difference in his attitude and attentiveness. There isn't a day that my children don't get excited to go to the Ares schoolhouse. I would 100% recommend this school for any family or individual looking.

We love Ares BJJ Sanford! My son started about 6 months ago and we have seen an amazing improvement in school and home life since he began. My daughter just started this month and we can see a change in her confidence level and her attitude already! Best gym around in my opinion!

Absolutely love that we made the decision to bring our kids 6&7 at the time they were both having issues with behavior in school and they were always so full of energy. Now they been here for 6 months and we have seen a complete turnaround in school and at home and they have made so great friends and a whole other family here at Ares BJJ. Everyone is so welcoming and they take the time to explain and to focus attention where it needs to be! They work with the kids on their moves and technique also teach anti bullying so I say win win for bringing your kids here! They have adult classes too!!!

Hands down one of the top three best parenting decisions we've made for our littles and myself! Every class the kids and I are learning something new and it's a very professional/comfortable/welcoming environment. Honestly, if you're even thinking about it for yourself or your kids - try a class!! We were looking for an activity to bring more structure for our boy (5) who was fairly reserved (and thus hard to make friends) and our girl (7) who is very outgoing and needed a better outlet for her energy. We've found Ares BJJ Sanford to fit perfectly for both needs! From the first class they took in November 2021, every day they ask "Are we going to Jiu Jitsu today??". They've made friends, expend mass amounts of energy (yay!), and are learning skills beyond the physical ones that they'll be able to take with them for the rest of their lives. My kids kept asking me to do the adult class, and when the Women's 5PM was an option, I went for it too! Now we're all there and I get to experience it with them - such a great place to spend time as a family together. The adult classes are appropriately challenging and great for all experience levels. I could keep going, but again, if you're reading this and have even a strand of desire to train here yourself or for your kids - do it!

The owners were very nice & texted with my husband to accommodate our son to participate in a session. We joined for a year & my son loves learning jiu-jitsu. I was surprised at the number of participants in both the children & adult classes. The facility is very clean & family oriented.

Such a great gym — solid family environment and the people are fantastic. One of my favorite things Professor Taniel teaches is how to strive not only to be a black belt in BJJ, but a black belt in life. This place has very quickly become family.

This is the go-to jiujitsu gym in NC! Professor Taniel, Coach Brad, and Bill run a great program for kids and adults. This gym provides great value for the price, offering evening classes five nights a week and open mat on Saturday. If you’re looking to compete, Professor Taniel’s approach will get you ready. It’s obvious that this place cares about their students. The family atmosphere and team focus is what sets this gym apart from everywhere else.

My daughter first started Bjj at Ares Bjj Sanford. This gym has the most amazing professor and owners. The discipline that is instilled in all the children, while also learning teamwork and respect is phenomenal. We have since moved and my daughter continually talks about how she misses this gym. I cannot say enough good things about this gym.

The bad. One of the owners seems to have an issue with the truth. He has told several members that he is everything from a Special Forces Sergeant to a Delta Force operator, conducted missions so secret while in a Special Mission Unit he cant discuss, etc. I thought I was alone in this experience until I spoke to others from the gym who had similar experiences and I am sure we are not alone. He is a administrative, personnelist. This is unacceptable anywhere but not very smart in an area with a heavy military population and the home of special operations. He will not be getting my money and Im sure his lack of integrity will catch up to him. The Good. The training and the black belt instructor are the real deal. A bit formal and pretty intense environment however. Skill level of the students peak at a few blue belts so not a broad variety of experienced folks to share knowledge, just reliant on the coach for guidance. It is a legitimate gym. I would give 3 stars for the actual BJJ experience but I cant stomach Mr. Stolen valor.
