Decided to try the free 2 day trial, asked our 5 year old son Antonio if he would like to keep on training. He quickly screamed yes and jumped into the air. Our son has always been shy, quiet, and slower at opening up to new things. So it shocked my husband and I when he said yes. Profesor Ramos and Coach Lester are wonderful with the kids. We enjoy how welcoming the environment is for us as parents and how the kids welcome and help each other out get better. Professor Ramos is very gentle, patient, and observing in every kids individual level. The gym is very clean, mats are always being cleaned. Wonderful place, I really would recommend to everyone to check this place out. Can’t wait for what the futurej holds for our kid, one thing is for sure, he’ll keep on learning a life skill from one the best professor Ramos.

Training at this academy has been an incredible experience. The structure is well-organized, the mats are always clean and well-maintained, and the environment is welcoming for all levels, from beginners to advanced competitors. The student community is also a strong point: everyone helps each other, creating a motivating and supportive atmosphere. Our 9 year old son came to Apex after being invited to do their trial classes with one of his friends 1.5 years ago and we have been here ever since! Our son has grown in so many ways thanks to the dedication of Professor Cleidson and Coach Lester. His confidence and agility level have exceeded our expectations. Professor Cleidson and Coach Lester always show up for the kids, weather it's practice, private lessons and most importantly, competitions. The academy is very welcoming with strong family values. There are about 5 Apex kiddos that all go to school together as well, so my husband and I are confident that the boys will always have each other's back and will continue life long friendships.

We enrolled our 6yr old daughter up for jujitsu roughly 7months ago to learn a life skill, but she has received so much more! She has found a community of people who invest into her development, and she has made some great friendships along the way. Shes involved in many sports in Vacaville, but is now addicted to jujitsu. Professor Cleidson, Coach Lester, and all the volunteer coaches have created a very welcoming environment. They all have created a great family culture and our daughter is thriving! This review will cover baby sharks and adult classes! We have been attending Apex since October. My son is in the baby shark class and has learned more in a few short months, than he has than the last year elsewhere. The gym is clean. It looks clean, it smells clean, and you can even witness cleaning in between classes. Baby Sharks: There are two adults managing the baby shark class, they do not allow nor teach chokes at this level, and they even have teens that are very knowledgable assisting. Each group is heavily monitored. The class, though only 30 minutes, is absolutely jam packed. They normally do a warm up (like running, a counting game, and some body movements). Then it's usually technique, drills, and sparring. There is little opportunity for your little one to get TOO distracted because there isn't much time in-between each transition. There are plenty of hands so kids aren't just sitting around waiting. And they are working! My kid always comes out sweaty. What I will say, is I appreciate the way the professors calm a meltdown. There is no yelling, there is no shaming. It's a low voice, with expectations and consequence. Whether it be no sparring that day, or whatever. The kids are constantly being asked by the instructors: What's #1 and they respond FAMILY! #2 SCHOOL! #3 FAMILY/JIUJITSU I just really love and appreciate the emphasis on correction, discipline, and respect. Adult class: I never imagined I myself trying, but after a gf said she tried it and loved it, she asked me to come to the women's class. I did, and I haven't looked back. I have no skills in this, I have no special athleticism, and yet.... here I am. grinding my way through. It's not easy... but it's so fun, and the camaraderie this gym has built is unmatched. You will get thrown in, but it's a safe environment. It's constant refinement in technique. And maybe some self awareness on the students end! The women's group alone is full of classy, wonderful ladies who will absolutely demolish you.... but in a good way. They are friendly, they are knowledgable, and they have inspired me to continue. I strive to learn, get better, and be a good training partner. So this was a lengthy way to say, that if you're on the fence about it... just do it. Leave your ego behind and just go for it. Age, sex, whatever. None of it matters. Just be teachable.

Solid instruction, people, and overall vibe. The Head Professor knows his stuff and can teach it to adults and kids very effectively. Apex is the best BJJ school I’ve come across. My whole family now does BJJ, including my wife who is now a blue belt. She said she would never train when me and my girls started. 😂😂

Coach Ramos runs a fantastic gym with a family approach that makes BJJ accessible even for older guys like me. My son was being bullied in school and we were looking to teach him self defense. After coming for almost a year, my 13 year old has a new found confidence in who he is and has made friends as well. Professor is patient, and teaches the kids problem solving and how to handle their emotions in a safe environment. It’s honestly the best decision we’ve made and the growth in my son’s happiness and maturity is priceless.

If you’re looking for great training, a good workout, and a family or brotherhood environment, Apex Vacaville is the place to come. I moved to the area and tried a few other gyms but I can say ApexBJJ stands-out from the rest. They took me in from the start; like the brotherhood I had in the military. Definitely a five start school.

My wife and I recently visited this academy as my step-daughter and her family all train here. We were welcomed warmly for the two classes we attended. The instruction was top-notch and the students were very welcoming. Everyone's jiu-jitsu was very good, which speaks volumes as to the quality of the instruction. Great local school.

Coach Cleidson is the man. This gym is clean, safe, and tremendously fun. If you are on the fence about tying Bjj this is the place to start. Any age skill level or goal professor Ramos is there for you. I had to move away but this gym and coach are about the only things I miss.

My 5-year-old son has been training with Professor Cleidson for over a year since his work at a previous facility, and he chose to follow his Coach to his new gym when it opened. My husband, too, became inspired to start his own BJJ journey and now trains at Apex as well (when he earned his first stripe, our son said, “I’m so proud of you Daddy! You’re catching up to me! 🤣). Our younger daughter, who just turned 2, can’t wait to start training with Coach next year and has been asking for her “own gi.” Professor Cleidson has a great depth of knowledge, skill, and experience, and has mastered the art of being able to transfer his knowledge to his students—from brand-new 3-year-olds to well-seasoned black belts. He has created a safe, clean, family-friendly environment where you feel welcome from the second you walk in the door. He has taught his students and their families to become a community whose members support each other and celebrate each other’s successes. He instills confidence in addition to teaching skills, and it is amazing to see how much my son has grown since he started training. Older students from the teens class come to the “baby sharks” class to help train and mentor the younger children, further building self-confidence and integrating the family feel. Professor Cleidson teaches that BJJ is a lifestyle, and it is clear that he lives true to this statement. Cleidson Ramos is a phenomenal Jiu Jitsu professor and all-around great person. He puts his whole heart into teaching Jiu Jitsu, and the degree to which he cares about his students is unmistakable. I was very nervous starting Jiu Jitsu as a woman in my late 30s with no martial arts experience, but Professor Cleidson has always made me feel welcome in class. He makes me feel as though he's genuinely happy that I'm there. I wish I had started Jiu Jitsu earlier in my life for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is the phenomenal people I have had the opportunity to meet. A good Jiu Jitsu family is like no other team. The Apex students are a perfect example of this. What a fun, inspiring, and supportive group of people. No matter how tired or stressed I might be, I never regret showing up, and I always go home feeling better than before I stepped onto the mats. It's hard to describe how much stronger I feel now than before I started Jiu Jitsu because the difference is so stark, but physical strength is only part of it. I feel mentally stronger and more confident across different areas of my life. Two years into my training, Jiu Jitsu has absolutely changed my life for the better. I feel very lucky to have found Professor Ramos on Day One of my Jiu Jitsu journey, and even luckier to be part of Apex BJJ.

I was referred to Apex by a friend and I’m so glad I went! Knowing nothing about jujitsu I was welcomed into this school. Professor Ramos has created a family friendly and easy to understand learning environmen with a flexible schedule for kids and adults. Everyone there feels like a friend and they all help you to learn with great patience especially for beginners. As a woman it’s been a comfortable stress free place, they feature all women’s classes which are my favorite, and there are lots of women in this school and all the men are very respectful as is Professor Ramos, who takes the time to encourage and get to know each of his students. Apex BJJ and Professor Ramos are amazing. My daughter has been training with Professor Ramos for 8 months and the progression in her able to be more confident in herself has drastically improved. I recently started attending the adult fundamentals class and love every bit of it. The professor and students are welcoming and foster a supportive learning environment. I would recommend Apex BJJ to anyone that is looking for an Jiu Jitsu Academy.

Very family oriented gym. I enjoy the rolls when I’m there. The gym is very welcoming. Everyone was willing to help me. I have great bonds with people here. Cleidson is very engaging with his students. He enjoys seeing his students make progress and is always there guide along the way. Thank you Cleidson for everything you do.

My daughter has been training under Professor Cleidson for a year and a half. She has learned so much this past year and a half. I put her in jiu jitsu for self confidence and to be a good sport if you lose. Her first class ever she was intimidated and cried but she stuck with it and now will be doing her first tournament. She loves her peers her coach. She understands the respect of the sport. When Apex opened in September I decieded to become a member. Professor Cleidson started the fundamentals class for beginners which I love all belt ranks do the fundamentals and help the newer students a. If you are looking for your kid to do some sort of MMA jiu jitsu and apex is the way to go. If you are an adult looking for some physical excersise apex. I personally love the physical excersise and gain knowledge in self defense .

Two of my boys 3&6 yr olds train at Apex bjj and we absolutely love it. professor Cleidson is so good with the kids. I’m not sure how he can remain so calm but he does and manages to teach them. We are so happy we made the decision to train at Apex and highly recommend them.

A place to train and develop not only in jiu jitsu but in life as well. Coach Cleidson teaches a healthy lifestyle on an off the mat. Our kids also love the classes. Very clean, many available training times throughout the week 10/10.

Apex is an awesome place to train. When I started training at Apex in October, I was completely new to BJJ. Professor Cleidson and others were very friendly and welcoming. I’m glad I joined Apex because not only have I received top notch instruction and fitness, I’ve got to meet a great group of people along the way.

This review is long over due, but this is the BEST Jiu Jitsu gym I’m the area hands down! Coach Cleidson is the most patient person I have ever met. Our two kids 5 year old boy and 7 year old girl have both been with Coach Cleidson for almost 3 years now. We’re happy to say that now my wife and I are also part of the Apex family! If you are looking for a place that is very welcoming, pushes you gently to grow, and treats you feel like family, than this is the place! Best part is that the owner AND the coach are the same person which speaks volumes!

I’ve been doing Jiu jitsu for many years now and this by far has been the best experience with the coach and with everyone training. Cleidson treats you like family and only does what’s best for ALL of his students. He is second degree black belt with allot of competition experience under his belt. I personally have never got as much knowledge as I have from him. APEX family💪🏻

Professor Cleidson is genuinely invested in each and every member. He knows my name/face and if I’ve been missing for a while. Very personable instructor, also. I plan to bring my children when they become of age. Awesome place to train for the hobbyist or competitor; adults and/or children.
