Great place to train in self-defense and exercise. The instructors are all skillful, humble and welcoming. This is not a Cobra-Kai macho trip gym! The leadership breeds a culture of respect, humility, and dedication. I have been training for 2 months and my 10 YO son is in the kids class and loves it!

Good training with knowledgeable teachers. They do a good job at welcoming new people and actually teach you rather than use you as a rag doll. highly recommend checking out Andres if interested.

Best most professional BJJ academy in Northern California. Professor Andre de Freitas is a 2 time world champion and the consummate instructor of BJJ. Highly recommended to come train with a real Brazilian teacher of BJJ.

Joining Jiu Jitsu has been the most reward thing I’ve ever done for myself. I was extremely nervous at first but everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Now I look forward to attending class every week! I highly recommend taking classes here.

From day 1, DDR has welcomed me warmly and pushed me to become stronger, more disciplined, and have more fun with jiu jitsu. Professor Andre and his instructors are dedicated, approachable, skilled, and genuinely cares about their students and the sport. It's a smaller academy, but that's what makes the people the best group to train with because it's tight-knit, inclusive, and never any bad blood. Prices are very reasonable and schedules are highly flexible, offering both day and night classes of various skills level (advanced, no gi, women's only, fundamentals, etc.). So proud to wear DDR's patches and grateful to be part of this family!

I can not say enough good things about this gym or Professor Andre. I have been training for two and a half years and I love it. My family and I all train with Professor Andre, he has such amazing kids and adult classes. Everyone at this gym is so friendly and helpful, every time I go to class I always learn something new. I highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in training or people who are just looking for a new gym.

A perfect place for the entire family to train together! Very comfortable and non threatening atmosphere. Classes offered for beginners, advanced, women's only as well as kids classes. Professor Andre De Freitas and his coaches carry the values of the academy in every class taught. Dedication Discipline Respect! This is my 6th year training under Andre de Freitas and DDR has become my home, we are not only a team but a family! Excellent place to train!

Look no further for great Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Andre is quite possibly the nicest and and brightest instructor I have met. The students at this school are polite, friendly, and very supportive. There may be other great places to train, this gym is one of the best in Stockton and the surrounding area. You will be hard pressed to find a better place to not only build your skills but meet some incredible people

Seriously, look no further. This school is absolutely phenomenal. As a novice I can only account for my anecdotal experiences: having only been training here a month I was able to repeatedly submit several practitioners at other local schools(209, Gracie) who had almost a years experience more than myself. My best experience with this school came when I needed knee surgery a few months ago. The coach was willing to completely let me off the hook for the tuition for the time I was out. Anyone who has been to other martial arts studios can attest to what a rarity this is. The environment is clean, everyone is friendly, coaches are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the atmosphere encourages humility and camaraderie.

My husband Donavon and son J.R goes to this place and they absolutely loves it. Hubby talks about Jiu Jitsu all the time, happy that he's doing something he loves and becoming a healthier at the same time. Me and my son have been going to class for about a month. It's been extremely fun and challenging. Everybody is nice and welcoming. I would recommend this class for anybody looking for a fun challenge.

This place is best place to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Valley! Andre de Freitas is world champion and world class instructor. He's very passionate about jiu-jitsu and sharing the art to others.Not only jiu-jitsu teaches you self defense and stay healthy and feel better about yourself. it also helps you conquer your struggles on the mat and off the mat. I'm 67 years old I didn't know I'd be able to do this but with Professor Andre and A great training atmosphere I've been able to compete in to tournaments and my goal is to compete at the worlds before I'm 70.

I can't even begin to describe how much my life has changed since I started training jiujitsu. I have the upmost respect for Professor Andre, he is kind, humble, welcoming, and a phenomenal coach. My son has been training at DDR for almost a year now. My son was very shy and Professor Andre was able to make him feel comfortable enough to come out of his shell. My son's confidence is bigger then ever now. Professor Andre has a a passion for teaching children. My son recently competed in a tournament...a year ago I would have never guessed he would have the confidence to compete...he does now and can't wait for his second competition...if your child is shy and needs a confidence booster, or if you just want a good outlet for them...check out DDR, you won't be disapointed...

I cannot recommend this school highly enough. I started training at Andre de Freitas Brazillian Jiu Jitsu in January 2014. I was looking for a family friendly place to train and learn the art of Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. Immediately I felt welcomed by Andre and the senior students. Andre is a 2X World Champion and you can definitely tell by his skill and knowledge of the art. His methods of instruction are very conducive to learning. Whether your goals are to compete in a tournament or simply to learn the art and get fit, this is the place for you. As a worker in public safety I recommend every Police Officer, Firefighter, and EMT start training here now!

great gym. the owner andre is friendly and welcoming. i have met a lot of people there that are very nice also. each year i have been to the brazilian festival that is held there in september has always been a good time, lots of vendors, food and fun. i highly suggest to stop in and check it out :)

I've been training at Andre de Freitas Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since it opened a few years ago. As a 37 year old attorney, I was looking for a respectful, family oriented place where I could learn the art of Jiu Jitsu. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I didn't have to look any farther than my home town of Stockton, California to find world class training. The owner and head instructor, Andre De Freitas Branco, is a two time world champion in BJJ. You would never know this by just looking at him. He carries himself with more humility than you would ever expect from a world-class athlete. It is only when you begin to roll with him on the mats that you realize how deep his knowledge of Jiu Jitsu actually is. In addition to being an excellent teacher for the adult students, Andre is quite impressive in his ability to teach and mentor young children. I enrolled my 9 year old nephew, and in a short amount of time his discipline, self-esteem, and respect levels had increased dramatically! Finally, I love the fact that this school is as diverse as it gets. Male and Female, young and old, students and business owners, contractors and lawyers, various ethnic groups - this school has it all! I highly recommend Andre de Freitas Brazilian Jiu to anyone who is looking to learn the art of BJJ, anyone who wants to learn self defense, or anyone looking to get into excellent physical shape.

Andre de Freitas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a wonderful place for children to train. I have watched my stepdaughter train there for a few months now and I have seen positive changes in her. She is more confident and enjoys sharing her experience with friends. She is always talking about how much fun she has and asking when she gets to train again. I love the atmosphere and how everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I would give them stars if I could!

The training was so basic and all they did was run around, After I canceled they billed me for two additional month, They apologized and said I would be reimbursed, after A month went by and no reimbursement I continued to call them and they stopped answering my calls, they were quick to answer all my calls when I was Enrolling my son but not when they continued to take out payments, they are extremely unprofessional and still 5 months later no reimbursement
