I can’t say enough good things about Aloha Roll Academy. My 3 kids and I all train here. I am constantly looking forward to the next class and I always leave feeling grateful, challenged and tired. The best thing about Aloha Roll is the culture. It truly lives up to its name and is an amazing example of what the spirit of aloha is all about. You will not find an immature “tough guy” atmosphere here, but rather a place where you will be challenged and encouraged to be a better version of yourself each day. I've been training at ARA for 9 months now, and it's been a fantastic experience for me. The whole academy is so welcoming and the facility is always clean and inviting. I quickly made great friends and have started a life long journey in jiu-jitsu. The structure of the classes and schedule makes it easy to get training in any time of day. Every one is very respectful and getting to roll with the best back belts on Maui is a huge honor. Very grateful to everyone apart of the ARA family.
Been training under Professor Gilberto for six years and have been loving my journey so far. Plenty classes to attend throughout the week Sunday through Friday. There’s also a perfect view of the sunset through the windows, makes for a picturesque location to train. Absolutely love Aloha Roll. I have the highest respect for Professor Gilberto and love his hard work and dedication. They took me in as a 43 year old noob with zero experience and treated and trained me with no ego. Not only is this gym a great place for everyone to have grappling time (from no gi to traditional jujitsu to wrestling) Professor Gil and his amazing team of coaches and professors continue to encourage, exhort, and discipline each of their students to become better at their skills. Aloha roll thrives in its youth department boasting some of the new faces that are taking the stage in the national arena. Professor Marc Godwin and his team of jujitsu warriors lead the charge in cutting edge techniques and training. There is room here for all levels and all age groups. It’s clean, friendly and welcoming. Personally, I am so thankful to be a part of this community. I never thought I would ever be learning something so difficult and yet so rewarding at my age, but after seeing the success and integrity instilled in my daughter while working with the team, I decided to give it a crack. I’m thankful I did. Aloha roll academy is top notch. I highly recommend showing up and having a roll.

Professor Gilberto and Aloha Roll Academy is amazing. Our boys have been training with him for a few years. He has not only taught them jiu jitsu but has helped instill character and integrity. He leads by example and our young boys are seeing this. We also really appreciate how clean Aloha Roll is. The cleanest mats!
Best place for young childrens jujitsu in Lahaina. My daughter loves her teachers, comes home tired and is learning so much! Entollment includes a jujitsu outfit and the monthly price is well worth it. The only problem I have is not with Aloha Roll, but the location is unfortunately home to 2 HUGE 5 g cell towers, less than 50 feet from the enterance.
Amazing place to train. I was in Maui for work and did a drop in class, super welcoming. Had a blast, coaches pay a lot of attention to fundamentals. Got a great work out and improved my game.

Best jiu jitsu academy on the island. Came from Denver and dropped in for a few days. Was immediately greeted by every member as they walked in. Super friendly & very nice. Gilberto definitely knows what he’s doing. Got to roll with him as well on my first day which was amazing. All around good time.

My sister and I are visiting from Philadelphia and dropped in for a 10 am class. I’ve been training for 16 years all over the United States and have never had a better experience as a drop in visitor. The class was so fun but challenging in the sense that it was a non stop hour of movement. We started with takedowns and then hit the floor. They packed so much into a 90 minute class. I’m so happy I dropped in. If you’re in Maui and you train Jiu Jitsu, you NEED to take a class here.

The name says it all. This dojo is very clean, nice, and professional. Everyone is very welcoming and there's a variety of people to learn from.
Great place to train. Professor Gil is a true professional in running the academy. The instructors and staff are so friendly and non-judgemental. The upper belts are kind and skilled and have no ego. All everyone cares about is bringing each other up no matter how long it takes. They are always finding ways to learn and refine new techniques, while always placing an emphasis on the fundamentals. There are fundamentals classes, no-gi classes, wrestling classes, combative classes, and children classes. The academy is always giving back to the community, whether it is done by supporting the keiki tournaments or by hosting free self defense seminars for women. If you are on the fence on deciding whether to join the gym, I would stop on by and talk to Professor Gil. He'll let you try out the fundamentals class for a day or two to see if it's for you. Uniforms are available so just walk on in. I've made so many new friends while training here, and would support them in any situation. I wish for their continued success and am looking forward to growing with them.

Starting BJJ at 45yrs old I’m way late to the game but the Aloha Roll Academy made me feel welcome from day one, I just celebrated one year of survival, I’m on the white belt journey. The space is Very Clean, Professional Instructors, Consistent Teammate’s, Variety of classes, Gi, No Gi, Privates, Open Mat, Plenty of Parking, Drinks & Snacks, EMT Certified and located directly in Lahaina. One of the things that really earned my respect is that ARA are truly focused on community fundraising from within during belt promotions for the kids to sponsor them to compete on the mainland and beyond. The support for the kids is just awesome and the food is always ridiculously delicious during those celebrations! I will never forget receiving my first stripe! The seminars from Professors visiting the island have also been a very cool bonus to membership. I could go on and on but best you come check it out for yourself. I look forward to meeting you on the mat! Aloha roll is hands down my favorite place to train on Maui. It’s always the highlight of my week to get in and train with some of the friendliest and best training partners I’ve ever had. I’ve grown so much since I’ve started training here. It’s a great place for beginners and more advanced people who are looking to train! Gilberto the owner is also a great guy who cares about the community.

This gym has been so welcoming and supportive for me beginning my jiujitsu journey. A great community that wants to help everyone out and train. There is a variety of coaches but each are so wonderful and detail oriented to make sure we understand every new concept. I get inspired every class to train harder and set more goals for myself. I would highly recommend to absolutely anyone considering trying out bjj no matter what age or fitness level you are at!

First Jiu Jitsu gym I've ever joined and could not be happier. Everyone is so welcoming and the instructors are fantastic! It was nice finding a gym where a total beginner can go and learn from experts without feeling out of place. From entry level classes to open mats, I always feel comfortable and learn so much. Wish I could give 10 stars!
We came from Seattle to Maui for the week of our daughters 11th birthday. She didn't want to miss out on an entire week of rolling so we researched local gyms and made arrangements with Aloha Rolls for her to drop in a couple times. Everyone there was very welcoming and made her feel right at home. She definitely will visit the gym on her next visit to Maui. Thanks again.

The owner, Gilberto, is great. Not only very knowledgeable, but knows how to share his knowledge. He always seems happy to have you at his dojo. Extremely highly recommended! On vacation I visited the school twice. Both time I was greeted warmly by the intructor and students. Each class had quality instruction/techniques where we were challenged to practice them in a sparing environment. Coaches Kainoa and Jeremy are awesome! I would highly recommend this school to anyone visiting or local. Mahalo!
