Visited the area for work and dropped in at Alliance BJJ Lakewood for a few classes - this is an AWESOME gym with some really high level jiu jitsu on the mats. Great instructors and training partners. Whether you are just starting your jiu jitsu journey or have been training for a long time, this gym will both welcome and challenge you. I would absolutely train here if I lived in WA. Thanks for a great time!
I was in town for a concert and dropped in for a class . Such a awsome place to train jiujitsu. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. 🙏🏽 I can't wait to drop in again.
I was a student here for a few years before I moved out of the area. The coaches, students and staff are top notch. James is a great instructor who is knowledgeable, easy to understand and fun. I'd recommend this to anyone interested.
I absolutely love this gym. Four years ago I tried a BJJ class back in Florida and quit after the first day because it was such an overwhelming experience. I didn't think I'd ever try BJJ again. I've been training consistently at the Lacey and Lakewood locations for the last four months now and to be honest I wouldn't have made it this long without the support I get at the gym. The coaches are great and the other jui jitsu student are super supportive. What I love about these gyms is the combinations of technical expertise provided by the instructors but also the community aspect. Everyone raises each other up and supports each other in a way that I didn't experience at the last jui jitsu gym I tried. BJJ is freaking hard but it's so worth it. In just 4 months my self confidence has improved and I'm feeling fitter then ever. Get you a membership and start training! You'll be glad you did.
Never been to this gym but trained GB for 6 years. Alliance schools are excellent and Lakewood area is beautiful. I’d recommend stopping in and giving it a try. BJJ is life changing great for relieving depression and a big confidence builder
When I find myself in the McChord AFB/Lakewood area I make sure I drop in. This jiu jitsu school is ran by hard-working folks who make sure your experience is top-notch, no matter what step in your jiu jitsu journey you may be at. Thanks for always welcoming me with open arms James!

James took me under his wing to help me wrestle as a high schooler without any questions asked, very detailed with each person who’s taking any type of classes. Awesome people with very high level kickboxing/muay thai from Micah and Kim, overall great gym, will recommend to anyone learning or taking any sort of mixed martial arts to the next level.
I’ve been training for 7 years and the last 3 has been at Cat 5. Whether you’re a recreational BJJ athlete or a serious competitor this is the place to train. The school has been growing due to Professor James making a lot of improvements at the gym. He’s highly technical and can articulate his knowledge that makes it easy for us to understand.
