I recently moved to Albuquerque and have been looking to start taking self defense classes. I found AMMA online and decided to give them a try based on the excellent reviews. After my first class, I left feeling way more knowledgeable and prepared to defend myself. I am incredibly uncoordinated and have never taken a class like this before. Andres, my instructor was nothing but patient and encouraging the entire time. There is no shame if you don’t pick something up right away. Everyone that takes the class is super friendly and willing to help the new guy! AMMA is a fantastic facility with the most sincere staff and patrons. I am grateful to have found such an amazing place to practice this beautiful art!

What a great group of people! No attitude issues, great workout, great instruction. I have been to several dojos, schools, of various styles, but this non traditional method of training is awesome!

We have our son enrolled in the kids jiu jitsu classes and he absolutely loves them. Sensei Zane and Sensei Daniel are both great with the kids! They manage to fit teaching the kids jiu jitsu and respect for themselves and for others into every 50 minute class. They are both incredibly patient with the kids and make every class a true learning experience. And, the kids always have a blast during class, making it the perfect combination of learning and fun. AMMA is a great community of knowledgeable martial artists who make everyone feel welcome, adults and kids alike. I HIGHLY recommend AMMA for any kid or adult looking to learn martial arts, no matter your level of experience.

Great in all aspects! The people are friendly. The classes are exciting and fun. The information and skills are very practical and applicable. The classes are definitely a workout! Zane can modify the skills to accommodate injuries or limitations. All the classes are good. Highly recommend for men and women.

By far the best "real-world" martial arts school hands down. Period! I participate in FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) and with two artificial knees it is perfect for me. What is more important to me is the "atmosphere" of the school. I'm 61 years old and all the instructors (and fellow students) make it feel like family. EVERYONE wants each other to be successful and they show it by having patience yet pushing you at the same time. If you are looking for a school to show how "tough" you are...this is not the place...sorry. If I could I would give them 10 stars. Man...I love this place (and no I'm not related to the owner!).
