I have been taking my 4 year old here for a little over a year now she started when she was 3 and may I just say I haven’t been more proud of a decision I’ve made than I am with this one! If you’re looking for a great place to take your child for Martial Arts, I HIGHLY recommend this one! Not only are they great teachers but they’re very patient, understanding and knowledgeable when it comes to teaching young kids. Since being there my child has progressed so much in daily life skills! It’s taught her discipline, obedience, confidence, social skills and MUCH MORE! Ms. Kent and Master B have been nothing but great with our child and It doesn’t go unnoticed! Thank you AKF Martial Arts of Delavan!
The passion the instructors have for teaching little ones is prominent. The patience and understanding builds trust with the kids, and they are very supportive and encouraging to the parents as well. So glad we enrolled our 2.5 year old!!
This has become a staple in our family. We have attended for a year and obviously any adventure has good and bad days but we have all experienced the value of perseverance. When I first met Ms.Kent, I recognized right away that she had such a wonderful gift at connecting with the kids and expecting good behavior from them. I value her partnership in helping my kids gain important and necessary life skills. She's so very responsive with questions and or concerns. As a bonus, they have a great time. As a financial investment, I truly feel it is worth it. Our kids have all gained new skills and confidence they wouldn't have without it. I look forward to further adventures and growth in our family. Thanks AKF!
We love Ms. Kent and our family at AKF. We are happy to have our 3 year old daughter involved in something that helps her in so many areas of her life.
They have different classes based on age and level so each student can train to their fullest. My daughter loves going to class and her confidence has blossomed in less than a year. Every child gets recognized and the attention they deserve in every class.
My 3 year old girl loves coming here. Ms Kent is a gifted teacher with both a fun and scientific approach to training a child's mind, body, and spirit. I give her so much applause for her ability to connect with toddlers who as we all know are notorious for not listening. Highly recommend for all children of any age. There is a nice community here too of kind and understanding parents who are all going through the same struggles. The gym is nice and cozy. My daughter has improved much since starting and it is a priority now for us to continue this fun and helpful journey together.
My son started with AKF of Delavan when he turned 7, he is now 11 and promoting to Black Belt in November. We have been so pleased with Ms. Kent and the rest of the staff. I have seen so much improvement in my son's confidence and we continue to work with him daily. The students and families are so friendly and encouraging. This has been one of the best decisions we made for our family. 4 years and still going strong!
My kiddos love the classes. My daughter has found her voice and confidence. My son has had massive improvement with his behavior.
It's not a secret how I feel about AKF Martial Arts of Delavan, L.L.C, James (my son) has had his life changed by all of the mental and physical skills that he's has learned on his journey to becoming a Black Belt. There are always bumps in the road but I see these children treated with the utmost respect and kindness. I pay 135 a month plus the extras and it is worth every penny to invest in my son's future. Ms. Taylor Kent you are doing an incredible job. As you said you can't keep everyone happy all the time. In my opinion AKF is top notch. Proud AKF parent!!!
Love it, great instructors! Learned alotand gained a new family 😁
They are very good. Love all the kids that are in it.
My 4 year old grandson has been taking lessons here for a few months. He has learned so much and absolutely loves it. The instructor is outstanding! Highly recommend!

Dakota has made so any improvements in attitude and respect, self discipline and confidence, we love watching Dakota continue to work hard and grow into an amazing young man!!! The instructors have been great to work with never do they expect perfect but only to do your best and strive to learn! I can not say enough about our AKF family!!!!
Fun and friendly teachers and students. Teaches discipline in a fun atmosphere.
This place is amazing! My son has been here since he was 4 1/2 years old and he is testing for his black belt in November!!!
My son Nick has been part of this class for about a year. It has built his confidence up so much. It has been one of the best things for him. They have flexible hours and days to make it easy on working parents. So happy to be part of this.
great place for all ages to learn
We absolutely LOVE AKF and the staff. My son started there non verbal and didn’t participate. Fast forward to today and he’s a willing participant, vocal and wanting to help do demonstrations. We have never had a problem and if there ever is Ms.Kent is super easy to talk to before and after class and if she’s busy you can always call/email/message her and she responds right away! I tell people all the time how great the school is and we see wonderful things out of not only are son but others in class. I read the review with one star and I totally respect people opinions and think all reviews are important but I will comment on a couple things. Classes are expensive totally agree but most sports are and the extras are just that extras it’s a business and if they want to grow and have certain things you have those extras people can purchase if they want but it’s not required, your told before you sign up on costs on everything you do need, when classes are canceled due to weather or instructors are gone for tournament they do 90% of the time schedule make up times and post them on the website and fliers in the building. As far as kid’s behaviors it’s actually one of my favorite things about the school they take EVERY range of child/kid, in my sons 4 year old class you have kids all over the board mixed in. I think Kent does an amazing job of being comforting but firm at the same time with the kids, she doesn’t let them get away with things but gives them choices on how they can fix it and if they don’t fix it it’s no sticker (for not listening) and/or no stripe (for not participating) I love watching how she interacts with the children who are having a hard time because she’s really good at it like really good, she never holds it against them and if they start off rough and get better she easily changes course and flows them into whatever there working on and does allow them to demonstrate because they obviously realize what they were doing wasn’t ok and are now ready to go. Does this interrupt class sure for a second but never to the point when it’s an issue. She keeps the class moving and going forward I’ve never seen her completely stop a class for over 2 minutes. Most family’s there who’s kids do have difficulties are there for that reason and the staff knows about and I’ve seen them talk with the family as a whole on how things are going at home/school. Classes with 3/4 year olds and the 5/6 year olds are not supposed to go perfect it’s building skills that their learning not only for the child but for the parent/family as well. Martial Arts isn’t just about becoming the next Karate Kid it’s about learning, discipline, respect of yourself and other. I think there doing a fantastic job and can not wait to see what the future of the school holds.
We went for a few months. We ended up moving a good distance but still tried to , wanted to stay. But my daughter who never really acted out, has now started to misbehave. She sees kids being chased and giggling for misbehaving and not listening. Saw them being called up to showcase exercises and being silly and she wasn’t so she thought she was ignored and needed to act out. In my opinion and from what I saw, The kids who don’t listen and bully, got praise and extra stripes and called up to do examples. Not to mention, these kids are bouncing around and the AC isn’t even on for them. My son was soooo agitated because he was so hot today. And, Always some type of sale going on… buy this paddle (which should have been in our sign up bag), buy this shirt (which we waited over an month for an now don’t even need), now school backpacks. Even the ‘appreciation’ BBQ, was a fee. I’d think for 100 a month, something would be included. Didn’t get to make up classes for the ones we had to miss or were canceled. And we’re a few classes from our expiration because you pay for last month, and won’t be coming back. My daughter was so upset today. She dropped her sticker and another kid ran up, stomped on it and ran away. She told me which kiddo and it said he found it and my daughter was made to look like she lied about it. I hit my wits end, This wasn’t the class for us. This is my observations and my opinions on our experiences. I’m so disappointed. :(
