The dojo is fantastic and very welcoming! Sensei Tim is a great instructor and very knowledgeable. I love coming to class and learning something new every time!
I can't say enough good things about the self defense class I took. One of the first things Tim told us was that this class would give us confidence. Confidence that I might break away from someone intent on harming me? Yup! It's about awareness and technique, and we learned those things thanks to Tim and his advanced students who gave us opportunities to practice with different people. Someone bigger, heavier, and stronger might grab your wrists, your throat, or even knock you on your back and hold you down but there are ways to escape. I did it with my college-age daughter and some of her friends. It was a great value to learn ways to protect ourselves, and we had a lot of fun doing it. I highly recommend this class.
I can’t say enough great things about the Aikido Center of Manasquan. My son wanted to learn Aikido, so I started taking him. It looked so much fun that I joined too, and now we have a lot of fun training together. Located in the old school building beside St. Denis Church, it’s a wonderful (and affordable) place to boost your fitness, relieve stress, and learn self-defense in a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Sensei Tim Vazquez, a former police officer, brings extensive experience, patience, and kindness to every class. The classes are inclusive, with a great mix of men and women, young and old, making it a perfect place for the whole family. No matter your experience level, Sensei Tim provides just the right amount of challenge to help you grow. The vibe is warm and inviting, with a genuine sense of community that makes everyone feel comfortable. Highly recommend!
This is awesome ! Learning martial arts is fun and enjoyable Tim is an excellent teacher with much patience for any age I highly recommend them
If you want to learn martial art techniques that work in the real world from an ex-cop who applied the techniques in the real world this is the place. Not to mention that these techniques allow you to subdue someone without kicks or punches?
My son has been attending the Aikido Center of Manasquan for over 9 years. We chose this Dojo due to it's traditional style & values. Many other Dojo's we visited were glorified playgrounds where there was no respect for the Art of Aikido. We travel through many towns & past many other Dojo's on our way to our Manasquan Dojo home. The Sensei at the Aikido Center of Manasquan, Tim Vazquez, has a lifetime of experience & is an amazing instructor. More importantly he is a man with strong character & morales. He deserves the respect in which he is held by all members of the dojo; children, adults & their families as well. You can not find a better Aikido Center in the area.
My daughter was a shy 10-year-old when she started her aikido training with sensei Tim Vazquez. She spent the next 8 years training with the best people at the Aikido Center of Manasquan who taught her not only to be a strong and confident person but one with the wisdom and energy to be a positive force in the world. She loves aikido so much she has decided to join the aikido club in her university! Thank you to sensei Tim and everyone at the Aikido Center of Manasquan.
I am a guy in my 60's with extensive martial arts training. I am in the best health of my life in part because I am a member of the amazing Aikido class lead by Tim Vazquez! No matter what age you are, you can still practice using his methods. I enjoy the philosophy and culture of Aikido. SMT is an intense, incredible workout in a short period of time. I am loving it! Tim is, without question, a phenomenal instructor who works extremely well with you no matter what the level of accomplishment. His knowledge, mannerisms, fine-tuned skills and overall mastery of the arts make it an honor and pleasure to be a member of his classes. I highly recommend him to anyone, without reservation. If you are looking for the right fit for you and your family members, look no further! Come , check it out!
I used to go to a local gym after work to work out and relieve stress after work, but the routines became boring after a while – same equipment, same exercises, and not much of a social place. I found Aikido Center of Manasquan after reading briefly about the art. The dojo is only 15 minutes from my house, so I decided to try out the promotion for 6 weeks (nothing to lose, right?). Well, that was 6 months ago. I truly enjoy the dojo and recommend it to everyone who reads this. The training is discipline and interesting, so definitely not boring. It is fast pace, so it’s a great work-out. Sensei Tim and staff are very patient in making sure beginners like me perform the techniques properly. The dojo is also a fun place to hang out as several social events have taken place where one can bring his or her family as well. All in all, a great place to work out, train on self-defense, and socialize with great people after a crazy day at work. Forgot to mention - my 9 year old daughter also come here for training Aikido, and she loves it.
Tim Vazquez provides an amazing class! I have a child who is a student of his. He exhibits patience and technique that far exceeds that of any other master sensei I have researched and seen. The class is chock full of excitement and all students (including the adult classes) are fully engaged. The classes are WELL organized, and clearly Tim reveals his seasoned expertise! If you are looking for the RIGHT place to join and become a member of a martial arts FAMILY, then THIS is the place to go!! Go! Watch for yourself...you won't be able to resist! Bless you, Tim, for all that you do!
A high level aikido school! Tim Vazquez Sensei is an incredible teacher with a long list of extensive, practical experience. The existing students are always welcoming to new students. Beginners or veteran practitioners, you will not be disappointed - check this place out! Visitors are always welcomed!
My first experience with ACNJ Manasquan was over 16 years ago when I had the opportunity to attend an Aikido demonstration at the dojo (then located in Brielle). Soon after this memorable event I was enrolled. From that moment on, I have developed an immense respect and amazement for the talent and generosity of the individuals and instructors at this location, especially Chief Instructor Sensei Tim Vazquez. With an extensive law enforcement and defense tactics background, Sensei Tim integrates these experiences into his classes with an emphasis on providing a full body workout. During these unique classes, the traditional martial art form and strong history of Aikido remain the foundation. ACNJ Manasquan is also extremely well connected within the Aikido community, starting with its membership with Aikido Centers of New Jersey headed by Sensei Greg O’Connor, who is directly affiliated with the Aikikai Headquarters in Japan. Many students of ACNJ Manasquan have been welcomed in to and trained in dojos across the United States and the World! No matter what location an ACNJ Manasquan member trains in, the feedback is always the same, they showed good technique and were prepared for anything. This is all thanks to the tremendous and diverse training that Sensei Tim offers!
I did some research before deciding to practice Aikido at the ACNJ Manasquan dojo. I chose this dojo because Sensei Tim Vazquez, 5th Dan, is a certified FBI Defensive Tactics instructor and has an extensive law enforcement background. He trains Defensive Tactics for law enforcement professionals so there is always an emphasis on practical effectiveness, something I was looking for in a traditional martial art. He teaches the full spectrum of Aikido, from soft, to hard, to powerful flowing techniques. The dojo itself is very traditional with a kamiza hand-built by one of the students, and a large practice area covered in good quality tatami mats. Once you walk in the door you immediately want to get onto the mats and start training. This school is part of the Aikido Centers of New Jersey, a group of dojos under Chief Instructor Sensei Greg O'Connor, 6th Dan. Membership at ACNJ Manasquan includes membership at all 9 locations in NJ and PA. I have found the instructors at these schools, and their senior students, to be very supportive and welcoming during my Aikido journey, and I have made many new friends along the way.
Aikido Centers of New Jersey - Manasquan teaches a traditional martial art with modern practical application. All of the instructors, especially the chief instructor, spend plenty of hands-on time with the students to make sure everyone learns something new in every class. Its a great all-around workout as well, with a strong focus on cardio. Cross-training in the offered yoga classes is a nice complement to the training.
