Sensei’s and coaches are amazing! Teaching my daughter discipline, routine, and to have respect and confidence.
Posted 1 year agoAdventure MMA has been a game changer and lifestyle changer for our family! I can not rave enough about ALL the Sensais. The facility and equipment is always clean. And best friendly and family environment we didn’t know we needed. The support is super strong and they want you/ your child to succeed. My daughter (8) has been in for over a year now and loves every minute of it, doesn’t get tired of it. We brought her not only for a extra curricular, but something to keep her focus and attention and I’ve gotten way more than expected, from the workouts to the training to the games and now grappling and weapons! Look no further than adventure MMA :)
I don't know about you guys but if any real fighters are in town maybe check this place out because it gives off mcdojo vibes to the maximum.
The program is great and the staff even better! Everyone there made me feel welcomed and were so encouraging! They truly care to help you reach your goals! 10000% recommend!
I've been coming here for years, and it's great. The coaches are really wonderful, and I really appreciate the Adventure Martial Arts community.
I really love this place! My son is 5 years old and he is thrilled to be there! Coaches are so nice and patient to him! I really recommend Adventure Martial Art! Thank you guys for your incredible work!!!
Awesomme!! Coach Sonny is the best! I am 64 yrs old and needed modifications to the routines, he was only too happy to help so I could keep up. Highly recommend this kickboxing class regardless of your age, it's better to do a little, some or most of it than sit in front of the TV wishing you were in better shape. I'm tired but oh so happy at my accomplishment. Signed up for the monthly plan and not looking back!!
My daughter loves everything she is learning. She is accomplishing her goal of cultivating confidence, strength and personal power. Sonny and Laura encourage her to be her best! Everyone is so friendly. Really great place 💖
We had signed our teenage daughter up for the kickboxing program last year & she loved it so much We signed her up again this year. It really does increase confidence & overall health. I would really recommend this place to anyone w a teenager that wants to get in shape & have fun. Update: It's post-Covid & my daughter STILL attends classes and LOVES IT! The instructors are great and they have a great relationship with the participants. They comply with Covid regulations, yet still make it a fun, worthwhile time every time. Wod still recommend them to anyone, very satisfied.
Coach Sonny is encouraging, positive, and keeps you motivated. It is a friendly atmosphere where you never feel judged or intimidated. The workouts are made so you can work at your own pace and athletic level. As long as you keep showing up and moving you see results and get better and better.
Clean and well lit location, Instructors are fair and good with there students. My 5 year old son is in class and enjoys coming. They learn respect and self defense and still have fun. Covid protocols are in place - instructors wear masks and all adults in the gallery must wear masks and maintain distance if possible. There are several options for classes and pricing is fair.
Great karate school with motivated instructors. The classes are challenging and will help you become a better version of yourself.
Super clean and Coach Sonny and Coach Ed are amazing with the kiddos.
It was pretty good! Non judgemental, excellent staff with a lot of experience in martial arts, kick boxing, ect. A little over priced, but i understand they have to stay in business and pay their staff, and being a small company, the only way to do that is by raising prices. I will be returning when things finally go back to normal.
Friendly and positive atmosphere, great coaches, and supportive members. Going on two years of fitness kickboxing and I don't see myself stopping.
Is there a phone number that actually works to contact this place??
I have always wanted to do the classes that are offered here, and I'm so glad I found Adventure Martial Arts. All the coaches are fantastic and really work you and encourage you to get you to your goals. And everyone is friendly and it truly feels like a team, we support and encourage each other. I feel blessed for finally pulling up my courage and signing up.
Me and my sister have signed our 4 little mighty Marvel's up for about a month now and it has been a great experience so far! Thinking about getting some training for myself. Looks so fun! They are awesome!
I have been taking classes since February 2018 and I can honestly say I was hooked at the first class! I can honestly say I have a better self awareness and the confidence to handle situations in life should they come around thanks to Coach Tamara's self-defence opening manoeuvres. I love this place! I highly recommend giving it a try. Come say hi if and when you do! I'm always open to meeting new people!
So my best friend goes here her qraduuation is today I might go but it looks amazing
Great place to bring your kids. The team is very welcoming and friendly. They make every person feel like they belong.
Been going to Adventure for almost 2 years. You want a good workout try there cardio kickboxing class, and there self defense classes Krav Maga and Ju-Jitsu class are a great way to self defend yourself. Instructors make classes fun for everyone. Would recommend taking classes at Adventure to anyone.
Our family loves Adventure Martial Arts! Sensei Sonny is a great instructor- he always shows up with energy, keeps the class moving and knows how to gently redirect or offer suggestions for improvement. My high-energy son is not only growing in his skill level, but he is also developing the focus and discipline skills he needs to succeed in school. My daughter is also learning how to move in her body and gaining confidence. The adult classes are seriously fun, engaging and will get you in great shape. It's a very encouraging and friendly environment for students at every level.
This has probably been the single best thing I have done for myself. Joining this gym is helping me relieve stress and feel better about myself at the end of the day. All the coaches are amazing and they really make sure that you are ok. I feel safe and I feel like I can really learn from everyone. I love Adventure MMA and I couldn't have picked a better place to join.
I really enjoy taking kickboxing classes here. The instructors are all great! I was very grateful I was able to sign up my college age daughter while she was home for the summer. It was a great mother daughter activity. Best of all when she moved back to her 2nd floor no elevator dorm we were strong and in shape enough we didn't fall over dead! Mini fridge and 20 trips up and down the stairs and we both "felt fine! "we feel like this all the time and we're glad we came!" 😜
My son is enrolled in the Juniors class and Sensei Sonny is great with the kids. He is learning a lot of techniques in a fun way.
My entire family loves it at this studio. We have all been here for about 8 months now. My two boys ages 7 and 9 are in Mixed Martial Arts. They have learned many self defense skills, as well as patients and manners.I am in several classes. They have a great cardio kickboxing program, that I enjoy. Right now I am also doing a strength training bootcamp, and this workout has made a difference in my lifestyle. I feel so much healthier mentally and physically. Both my husband and I are in Krav Maga and we enjoy learning the self defense moves. I feel that with all my skills that I have learned here as made me more prepared, in a dangerous situation. All the Sensei here are great teachers and are fun to work with. You can really tell that these teachers really care about their students and take pride in their facility. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a place for yourself, the kids, or the whole family.
I love Adventure! They provide a welcoming environment and challenging instruction. You can really tell how much the instructors love what they do, and their enthusiasm is contagious. I have seen such a change in my fitness level and confidence since starting a year ago. Everyone there is like family and they're always helpful and encouraging. If you're looking for a great martial arts studio, definitely check them out.
This studio is amazing! They have created a wonderful and encouraging team atmosphere. This is the first exercise class I have actually stuck with. Everyone here has helped me to live a healthier life.
I've been taking kickboxing there for about 9 months and absolutely love it. The instructors are very kind and easy to talk to as well as the other students in class.
While I am a big part of the program, I started first as a student. What a difference it has made in my life. I've met the most amazing people. I've also been given a safe place to work through some pretty painful stuff that happened earlier in my life. I've had the opportunity to share my weight loss journey with other students and be inspired to stay on the path of health. This is the one place in the world that EVERY time I walk in I feel welcome and that I have found a home. My life is a million times more fullfilling now that I have found martial arts. I'm thankful for the opportunities provided to me at Adventure.
Great instructors, great environment. My daughter loves going here and has grown so much during her time participating in the program. Sensei Sonny and Tamara are great with the kids.
Good martial arts place with convenient evening classes.
I love Adventure Martial Arts. I heard about it through a friend. We started going almost a year ago and I am still holding strong. I look forward to going even when I am exhausted from a long's day work. Trust me; I have many long days ahead of me. The instructors are very kind and easy to talk too. They are very encouraging and desire to help you reach any possible goals. The other customers are pleasant, easy to talk too, and very encouraging. Today, I participated in helping someone complete their squats for the day. Who does that, right? Well try it out and see for yourself. That's how this place operates. I mostly enjoy the weekly challenges they give us to assist in living a healthier life style. Currently, we are doing a 90 day challenge of push-up, sit-ups, or squats and reps increase weekly. The first three place winners get a monetary gift (which is always nice, right!). In addition, as my son is not a part of the kids martial arts, I have seen them encourage the kids to be kind and help the community. I am an advocate for children, so I support this 100%. Lastly, on a personal note, I see results. I am losing and toning nicely. I love when I can fit into my clothes better or when I see people and they complement my weight loss. Honestly, once I take eating healthy more serious, I am sure I will shed much more weight. Thanks Adventure Martial Arts-Parma!!!!!!!!!!
I tried out Ju Jitsu in the spring to fulfill my childhood dream of being a ninja (hahaha) but what I found here at Adventure Mixed Martial Arts is a family. I'm now a part of Kickboxing, Krav Maga and Ju Jitsu. My 5 and 6 year old daughters are also part of the team in the children's Mixed Martial Arts program. With the guidance of the fun and friendly instructors and the generous help of others in the groups, I have gained greater physical and mental fitness, developed awareness and confidence both on and off the mat, formed new bonds with people here on the team and better bonds with my husband and daughters at home. Overall the experience here is creating in me a happier wife, a more playful mommy, a better friend to people, and a well-rounded person altogether. THANK YOU Team Adventure!!!
Loved every second of the place when I first started. Curriculum was great, place was clean, coaches were polite and helpful. Well enough for an easy five star review. THEN something happened. Don't know what but lines were drawn and some people were worth the higher belts time and others weren't. I totally get it, if you're new a blue or purple belt can easily teach you the fundamentals which the junior coaches, for lack of a better term, teach you. Sonny and Stefan you can learn from all day and they're good at teaching. But the owner and the guy you're paying has no problem going 10 weeks, it was literally ten weeks cause that's how they're curriculum goes, without even teaching a class or even a hello in us lowly belts direction. But he had no problem counting up the cash on stripe testing day, 30 bucks a pop, and happily walking by most of the class without even knowing how we've progressed or anything. So the owner, only black belt and decider of your worth can take the 30 bucks for your to test but not really care about your testing. Hey if you wanna pay a guy who could care less about your advancement in jiu jitsu then this is the place for you. But if you wanna be an actual student and not just a pay day then look elsewhere. Sucks because like I said before Sonny and Stefan are great teachers and overall people in general but they just happen to work for a guy with questionable business practices. 3 stars cause of the staff would be 1 and pretty laughable without them.
I would like you all to know that a Local business in Parma is kicking children out of their Martial arts class if their parents have a simple disagreement on class size and Discipline. My soon to be 13 year old daughter has been going to Adventure Martial Arts for about 6 years and is on the cusp of being a junior black belt. Being she tightens her moves and practices a little more. Any how a part owner has shown up on the seen these last few months and ask for a meeting to discuss her progress. I told him I just talked to the instructor the other day no need he told me what he wants my daughter to work on. He then tell me that the coach doesn’t see what he see’s. I said oh ok I can be there Thursday. So we go to the meeting and he ask if we have any concerns and my father said in his opinion the class sizes are to big for the children which is bringing down the discipline because kids wanna play. The response giving back was collage kids do it all the time upwards to 80 kids. This led into bickering between the owner and my father so I got up leaned over to Coach Sonny and said “Thanks for all you do!” and left. My parents were still with the owner and argued over it and now my daughter who had nothing to do with it was kicked out via e-mail 4 days later. Coach Sonny is a great coach/Instructor and is awesome at teaching life skill and respect while conducting his class. We couldn’t want anything more out of him. But this part owner to come out if no where and kick a child out for an adult disagreement is terrible. It’s been 3 months now and my daughter has a new Place to develop her craft but also feels that something is lacking from Adventure Martial Arts as he can not see why my daughter would be testing for a junior black belt. He feels she is very strong and confident but is not ready to be at that level. He feels that Adventure is pushing the belts to keep the money flowing!! I love the reply that other staff members were present and children. When this was a personal meeting with a part owner and coach Sunny our selves and my daughter. I was frustrated got up shook Sunny’s hand and said thanks for all you do. It was the owner who was narcissistic and rude!! I took my daughter and left my parents to finish. As it was only them now no other staff members or children when said threats came from a 65 year old woman with two replaced knees so called threatened them with harm. My mother lives coach Sunny so we know it wasn’t him. The owner is out of control. And no rebates were given. So out of class they still send birthday emails. Lol.
2020: 5 stars! Went here for the better part of a year. I only stopped going because I moved out of state. All ages, all skill levels, and all physical conditions. It's fast-paced but not too fast. And they're not pushy or anything. I like that we can all have a lot of fun but still be serious about achieving our goals. I plan to start attending again once I move back to the area. 2023 edit: I moved back in town. Things have changed. Time wasn't good to this place.
Rating is based on the owner’s (Joe Stronsick) lack of honesty & integrity in the way he conducts his business. He is focused on increasing enrollment at the detriment of the training of current members. Only 1/3 of his staff (coaches) are actual black belts as of 12/25/24. The senior staff (Sonny), who is an exceptional instructor went from teaching almost all the classes (in the 3+ years that I have been there) to teaching 1 kickboxing class per week & making limited & inconsistent appearances in the 2 weekly 45 min. self-defense classes. His time was redirected to marketing & double-booking new introductions at the same time as the self-defense classes, leaving the upper belts to figure things out on their own as the non-black belt instructor (Dan) often deferred to Sonny as being our instructor & that we would have to ask him, when asked to teach us a specific skill. The belt tests were a mass fund-raiser occurring every 10-12 weeks with upwards of 20 students testing at one time & other than 1 person not passing on one occasion, everyone always passed (or was pushed through). Classes run back-to-back on the minute, not allowing time for students to change into their uniform as 1 of their 2 restrooms was locked & reallocated as a storage room. The classes are short, you are paying for that time, yet you are unable to use it. Arbitrary fees were thrown together for the purchase of equipment (which was pushed often & required to be purchased from them & with their logo), then only 1/3 of the promised items were provided along with another Gi (which was not even on the list of promised items) & we were told that they ran out of money for the other 2 items that we were promised. How is that ethical & how did they even come up with the dollar amount that they charged in the first place? Under Joe’s direction, the male students were given priority in training over the female students. I & another female student were promised 10-15 min. of additional training weekly to prepare for our black belt test (a date that was changed by Joe 3x) but in the 9 months that we continued to train, Sonny only worked with us in this manner the 1st 3 weeks that we were told this would happen, he refused to teach us 5/10 mass attacks that were required for the test & actually told me that it was not worth their time to only test the 2 of us! Joe could never have had any intention of testing us in the 1st place if that was actually the case. So deceitful, no integrity! We two females were not worth their time to test, but another male student, who trailed behind us in his skills, was provided with free private lessons or “make up classes” with Sonny & that is worth their time? That is certainly giving priority to male students over female students in training. If you are assertive, take your training seriously, question any of Joe’s decisions or call him out on anything, he targets you & attempts to drive you to leave. If you don’t leave, he primes you until he finds a reason to kick you out. Adventure has lost several upper belts in the time that I have been there for these same reasons & this is why their facility will never represent serious martial arts trainees. If you want safety & you want to be coddled, then this is the place for you. But if you want to learn real world skills that you know you can count on against a real attacker... I’m not so sure. Adventure is not a BBB Accredited Business & Joe has not agreed to the BBB standards for trust, nor has he passed their vetting process. BBB currently rates Adventure a B- based on failure to respond to complaint(s) filed. Joe must believe that he is above being held accountable to anyone. There are good people there. It’s sad that Joe creates such a toxic environment. If you don’t encounter it as a beginner, you will certainly encounter it as you move up through the ranks. Seriously consider if that is the kind of place that you want to invest your time & your money.
I saw an AD on social media about this gym. It states the first introductory class is free, then you can sign up for 5 classes for $40, which I thought was a good deal. It also stated they would loan you gloves for the first class. I truly attended to see what it's like and decide if I wanted to sign up. I arrived on time, was given a document to complete and upon completion was asked to pay for the five classes. I explained that I was interested in the intro class first. The instructor stated I needed to purchase gloves and the classes. I said no thank you, I'll go to my regular gym and left. False advertising and not welcoming.
The owner Joe was a completely rude and unprofessional person with no regard to my young son sitting right there. . Sunny was wonderful and very patient with my son, however based on the nastiness of the “owner” I would never suggest this to anyone. They require you to be locked into a long term contract without any consideration of feedback. If I could give less than one star based on the incredibly rude behavior I would. This is not a person or company I would recommend to anyone looking for a location for their children at least if that person in still in charge. Again awful demeanor and behavior! Based on past reviews this seems to be his character. Very sad for the co-owner when a “partner” drives away business.
Reviews are great and facility seemed great, which is why we signed our son up. We have a 5 year old with a lot of energy. When we signed up, we were under the impression that their would be coaches following along with the students and also guiding them since this was group of little ones. Was also told coach sonny would be helping with classes as well. However, that was never the case. My son always had one coach (coach Amalia) and a younger child helping her. Therefore the kids were always screwing around in class and not being taught the discipline, focus, respect, etc that we were told he would be taught. When I brought this to coach Sonnys attention, his solution was to switch days for my son so there would be more coaches on his day. So, we gave it another chance and switched days. He was correct, there were more coaches on Tuesday and Thursday BUT they weren’t even on the floor with the kids. They were up at the front desk while yet again coach Amalia taught classes solo or with little help from another coach and/or another older child. Also, since I was not the one that took him to classes(Bc I worked, dad took him), I called and left a voicemail THREE times to get information on withdrawing our son and nobody returned my calls. When dad finally got this information, we were told it would be $200 to withdraw our son. We withdrew that day. Easiest $200 I have ever spent. Such a disappointment. If you are looking to get your child out of the house for 30 mins to run around and screw around with other littles, AND waste over $100/month, this is the place for you!!!!
