After having a long break off the mats, I was looking for a school to further grow in the sport aspect and just over all. This is a great group of guys with great coaching and overall vibe.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Whether you are a competitor, looking for a new hobby, self defense or looking to get in shape this is definitely a place to go check out.
If you’re looking to learn Juijitsu for self defense or competition this is the place. Welcoming environment, classes for new and experienced practitioners. I recommend Academy 440 to anybody seeking to better themselves physically and mentally. Let your journey begin or continue at 440!

Feel fortunate to have found Academy 440! Coaching and instruction are great and attention is provided to all of the class. Good mix of gi & no-gi and lots of opportunity to roll following the formal class. There’s diversity in skill level (beginners, experienced, advanced) among students and everyone is friendly and welcoming. If you are interested in competition or want to get in better shape and learn to defend yourself, this is the gym for you!

I always tell anyone who asks: Academy 440 has some of the best guys in town. Brad Bukovics is a gem who teaches a technically sound style of grappling and is one of the very few local black belts who puts it on the line regularly in competition

I dance ballet professionally and started jiu-jitsu as cross training. My ego was quite large as well as I think of myself pretty highly. This place gave me some much needed medicine in the form of humbling, discipline and overall fun. Brad and Jeff, the professors, are great and everyone there is great as well. They all want what’s best for you and it shows. If you want to learn jiu jitsu and have a good time, absolutely go here.
I've been in martial arts since 10 years old - and Im very old now. I have to say that Brad and Jeff are just the best. Everyone there is family now!
Grateful i found this place. My 8 yr old son loves the kids classes. Brad is a genuinely solid fella. No where I'd rather use.

I love this gym. I’ve been training here while I’m away from home for the summer and I feel at home here. Everyone is welcoming and brads style is very unique and he is very helpful.
