Came to Markham on a business trip and was looking for a place to train while I was around. The people at 88 welcomed me with open arms and instantly made me feel at home as soon as I stepped in! The community is vibrant, and the level of bjj is great! Dropped in for one of their nogi classes and Eric’s teaching was precise and technical. Highly recommend, and will definitely come back whenever I’m around Markham!

I recently dropped into 88 BJJ Markham for their 9am Saturday class as a visiting purple belt, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, the atmosphere was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making it easy to jump right into the mix. Coach Alex was teaching the morning class and taught a great sequence on takedowns, breaking down the mechanics with clear, actionable details. This was followed by takedown sparring and then open rolls. The academy itself is fantastic; the facilities are spotless, and having a clean shower room available is a huge plus after some rolls. One standout feature of the gym is the unique sloped wall, which adds a really cool dynamic to the training space. I highly recommend 88 BJJ to anyone in the area, and I will definitely be coming back for another class!

My son and I have been attending classes here for over a year. It was intimidating at first but Orson and his coaching team have made it a point to build a friendly martial arts school. I find everyone here likes to help each other learn. My son has fun rolling around with his new friends. There are also higher level classes and competition level training if thats what they want to do. The adult classes have students that range from beginners, higher belts, hobbyists, busy moms and dads, younger and even older students, and competitors. There’s also a growing female class. It’s been a nice place for me and my son to hang out and learn.

Amazing Gym with great instructors. I've been able to go for a couple months starting with the 4 week beginner program. Then afterwards I've been attending the classes and learned alot and met many people who became like family. It's a great place to start and I highly recommend it. There is a kids program which perfect, and both the kids and adults have amazing instructors. You learn a lot and found myself getting better overtime.

I had an amazing experience visiting 88 BJJ. The team is very welcoming, lots of partners to pick from and the training is high quality. I'd recommend this gym to anyone beginner or advanced.

I had the opportunity to drop in for a class at 88 BJJ and had an outstanding experience. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to provide helpful feedback and adjustments throughout the session. Everyone in the class was welcoming and friendly, which made jumping into a new gym environment really comfortable. The facility itself is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of mat space. I appreciated the structured approach to the class - there was a good balance of technique drilling and live rolling, and the instruction was clear and easy to follow. The atmosphere is supportive and focused, which is exactly what you want in a training environment.
