Brilliant gym! I’ve been going consistently 3 times a week min of 3 months now! Great facilities and classes! Only issue is nowhere to properly chain your bike up
Honestly a great gym. I have tried countless gyms in Newport and haven’t found any other better than this one I am a big fan of all of the trainings facilities such as a dedicated cardio area, cables, free weights and so much more! The shop area is amazing with thousands of different protein powders in addition all of the staff is always really happy and always smiling all and all I love this gym and will continue to come back
Really impressed by this Amazing Gym, huge choice of equipment. Machines that arent available at other gyms. Reasonably priced. Clean. Great cafe and shop. Music good. Lighting great. Really impressed. Plenty of space.
So let's start with the positives. 24 hours a day means you can come and go at your own leisure, which is a great, great aspect to this gym now.
Now the negatives:
1. Firstly, there are very large boxes on the ceiling which resemble air conditioning units. It would be really nice if they could turn them on. Yesterday at 6pm was very warm in the gym. Not good for anyone’s health to be working out without good air control.
2. Secondly, lighting. Because it would appear they're on timers and 30-second intervals, this can mean that they're constantly flickering on and off. This is not a good sign for anybody with any form of photo epilepsy. This should probably be addressed relatively quickly.
Some of the equipment is slightly worn, and it would be a good idea if it were replaced or at least looked after a little more often.
For £400 a year, it is a relatively good price for the amenities that you get. Of course, they cannot leave the changing rooms open all night long, which is disappointing but understandable.
All in all, this is a great gym and would be highly recommended if they would just sort out the air conditioning and actually pay the cost of having it running, and also the lighting situation, which can be dangerous for some individuals.
Edit: This morning at 7am there was no air at all in the gym.
On my way out I asked the lady at the reception when will they turn the air-conditioning on.
“No aircon”
But what about the large air con units on the ceiling?
“No aircon”.
Could they turn the fans on?
“No fans. No aircon. Not in gym. Only fan in studio”.
So there you have it.
Great selection of machines and equipment at this gym. However, gets too hot in summer and too cold during winter due to lack of AC/heating. Also, lack of adjustable benches, it's about 50% adjustable and 50% non-adjustable which makes no sense to me, just make them all adjustable! Additionally pins always going missing, and members seem reluctant to put away the equipment after use, I know this isn't the fault of the gym itself, but management should be stricter with members about this, and repeat offenders should be banned. Won't be renewing my membership sadly.
