Awesome academy! Nate is a fantastic instructor! He brings his high-level competition experience into his instruction. He's always eager to answer questions and help students of all levels. I've done three drop-ins at 10th Planet Seattle and loved every minute of it. Everyone is welcoming and cool to roll with. I highly recommend 10th Planet Seattle to anyone who wants to try jiu jitsu or is already experienced and wants to improve their game.
Posted 1 year agoI dropped in at 10th Planet Seattle (in Bellevue) for a couple of days while in Bellevue for work. Excellent grappling academy. SUPER clean. Welcoming. Good culture. Diverse. Innovative techniques. This gym is owned and run by Eddie Bravo black belt, Nathan Orchard (who the “Dead Orchard” position was named after). And the curriculum and approach is just as imaginative as you’d expect from such an innovator of the sport. As a visiting white belt with about a year’s experience, I took the beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. Professors Matt, Adrian and Nathan (Owner) were all extremely friendly and helpful and I got a lot out of each class. I would recommend this academy for anyone. For beginners looking to get into no-gi jiu jitsu for the first time, you’ll find a welcoming nurturing atmosphere. For long-time experienced grapplers visiting or looking for a new training home, you’ll find skilled training partners and creative new ways of looking at techniques; perspectives/approaches that are both fun and effective. I hope to visit again next time I’m in the area. Thanks 10th Planet Seattle!
Posted 1 year agoAbsolutely incredible environment. Coaches are patient and kind, and everyone was incredibly welcoming to me when I switched to 10th Planet. Nate is a great coach, with a mind for the spirit of martial arts and what makes jiu-jitsu FUN! Facility is also spacious, with great cleaning protocols.
Posted 1 year ago| A review for fellow beginners / the BJJ curious | I started about 1 month ago with 0 experience and I highly recommend it. Here's what you'll get - extremely knowledgeable instructors, friendly training partners, a spacious, well-appointed gym, and a flexible class schedule. Honestly, if you're like me, you may feel that it's intimidating starting something brand new as an adult with no background in this practice. Coach Nathan and the instructors take the time to break it all down and allow you to learn at your own pace. Plus, all the classmates I've encountered, from very experienced to newbies, are helpful and respectful. Thanks to Nathan and the whole community for putting together a great school.
Posted 1 year agoJoined the 6am class as a drop-in. Great instruction and very welcoming group of people. Excited to train here again whenever I am in the area.
