I cannot recommend 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu enough. As a woman, I was initially intimidated by the idea of training in a jiu jitsu gym, but the experience has been nothing short of amazing. The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and truly meet you where you are at, making the learning process approachable and encouraging. The training environment is safe, supportive, and welcoming. In only a few months, I have learned an incredible amount and gained both skills and confidence. For women who may feel hesitant about stepping onto the mats, this is a place where you will feel respected, challenged, and supported every step of the way.
Posted 11 months agoI did drop-in yesterday for the Beginners Jiu-Jitsu adult class, with a buddy of mine. Everyone was friendly, the place was very clean. The coaches were professional, happy to help, and kept a watchful eye. I loved it.
Posted 1 year agoI went to the open mat for my birthday and had a blast. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Gym was clean and state of the art. You can tell they're a solid competition gym. I was able to come out bc I'm visiting family and train out of town but would definitely come back to take classes and roll around some more. Thank you!
My son started the youth MMA classes with Hunter and absolutely loves it! He has learned so much in a short time! I have nothing but positive things to say about the gym as a whole! It has been such a welcoming environment and an awesome place to have in Grants Pass!
One of the best gyms on a technical and competitive level in the PNW. The owner, Andrew, is one of the most active and skilled competitors in the area, and he is bringing up a team of skilled grapplers who are dominating regionally and having successes in bigger pro shows and higher-level tournaments. If you want to learn legit, modern no gi jiu jitsu, this is the place to train.
I recently moved out of southern Oregon, but I had the privilege of training at 10th Planet Grants Pass for the past five years, and I can confidently say it's one of the best jiu jitsu gyms I’ve ever been a part of. I initially moved to Grants Pass for work, and while I planned to continue training jiu jitsu, I didn’t expect much from such a small town. I couldn’t have been more wrong. From my very first classes, I was blown away by the level of technique and toughness of the athletes at this gym. I’ve been training jiu jitsu for 12 years, and for about six of those, I was a blue belt. I felt pretty confident in my skills, but training at 10th Planet Grants Pass quickly humbled me. This gym was one of the most challenging I’ve ever encountered. Andrew, the head coach and owner, stood out to me not only because he runs the gym and teaches the classes but because he actively competes at the highest levels of the sport. That’s rare and something that makes this gym special. Andrew’s competitive experience means he’s always in tune with cutting-edge techniques and new developments, which directly benefits everyone who trains here. In fact, training with Andrew and this team rekindled my own desire to compete. But if you’re a novice or someone just starting, don’t be intimidated by the high level of the gym. The people here are as good as they come—humble, friendly, and always willing to help others improve. It’s a supportive environment, whether you’re a white belt or an experienced grappler. The entire gym has a deep love for jiu jitsu and works hard to spread that passion in a positive way. Fast forward five years from when I came to the gym, and I am now a purple belt under Andrew. I’ve never been more passionate about jiu jitsu. I went from casually training two to three times a week to feeling like I needed to be on the mats every day. I’ve competed in several tournaments, and whether I won or lost, Andrew and the gym have always been there to encourage me, support me, and help me improve. I could go on about how great this gym is, but instead, I’ll just encourage anyone—whether you’re traveling through or thinking about starting jiu jitsu—to drop in and take a class. You’ll be amazed by the community and the level of martial arts you’ll find here. This is hands down the best gym in Oregon, and quite possibly the entire West Coast. It’s a hidden gem where you’ll see scrawny teenagers tapping grown men, kids learning self-defense while having fun, and competitors training to be the best versions of themselves. Come be a part of it!
Training at 10th Planet Grants Pass with Coach Andrew Alexander and am coach Joaquin has been an absolute game changer for me! The environment is welcoming, motivating, and full of positive energy. This gym is not only full of a bunch of incredible competitors but also a gym full of great coaches who are patient and dedicated to helping everyone improve, regardless of their skill level. The deep knowledge of jiu-jitsu combined with everyones ability to break down complex techniques makes this gym both fun and challenging. Since I’ve started training here, I feel stronger, more confident, and overall healthier—both physically and mentally. The gym has a real sense of community, where everyone pushes each other to be their best. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, this is the place to be. I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing team!
Super fun gym! Great facilities, open, clean and family friendly. Jiu Jitsu is a great sport to be a part of! Full body and mind engagement. Classes for every age group, something for every skill level from beginner to advanced, supportive and knowledgeable instructors with a full schedule of class times to fit workouts into life. A great support for health, wellness, self defense, longevity, lifestyle and even competition. Easy parking, clear website info, easy sign up and payment options. Free trial classes, offered. Try it!
Long story, short...10th Planet GP is awesome. Great coaches, great instruction, and a great learning environment.
Definitely the best gym to train at! The people there are so friendly and the instructors teach high quality technique and have a ton of different classes for everyone. The women there are also super fun to train with and there are classes that are specifically women only.
Grants Pass area residents are truly fortunate to have such an exceptional jiu-jitsu gym right in their backyard! As someone who travels frequently for work, I've experienced my fair share of gyms. Sadly, too many have poor customer service or instructors who are arrogant and lack patience. 10th Planet Grants Pass is a refreshing exception. Andrew and his team are incredibly patient and encouraging. If you're willing to put in the effort, they'll consistently push you to improve. Other gyms could learn a lot from their approach. I can't recommend 10th Planet Grants Pass highly enough!!!
Every time we can make a class, my wife and I have a blast. The coaches all live a culture of kindness, welcoming to newcomers. Every member is a friendly face. The gym is in a great location. We should have started this years ago and whoever is reading this should start today.
Best gym in southern Oregon! Excellent instructors and a lot of different classes!
10th Planet Grants Pass has highly skilled and dedicated coaches that bring it every day. Numerous classes to choose from daily including a great kids program. Plenty of mat space and the mats are of high quality and religiously cleaned. They recently just moved into a larger building that has locker rooms with showers for both the ladies and gents. Amazing people and community of savages. Just prepare to be humbled and open to meeting new friends.
I trained under Andrew for a few years. I have trained under others before and after. Andrew is one of the most competent and knowledgeable coaches I have had. He cares about his craft and is eager to share his experience. Honest, loyal, and a fun guy. He has many coaches on staff that carry the same characteristics.
Great gym and great people! Nuff said! 5 stars!
Best gym in oregon by far! Great people and even better jiujitsu. Andrew is actively competing with some of the best in the sport. And his teaching is world class.
This is hands down the best Jiu Jitsu gym in Oregon. The owners and teachers at this gym are truly the best!
This is hands down one of the best jujitsu gyms in the world. Being apart of 10th planet I have been able to go to multiple other 10th planet gyms in other states as well as Europe. When you get to see the different ways of teaching you begin to see just how good 10th planet grants pass is. Andrew Alexander is the black belt at the gym and is so friendly and welcoming to all people from small woman to 350lb men. The one thing I love about this gym is the consistency of how classes are taught. The warm ups are the same, the way the classes are taught is organized (everyone lined up on the mats not sprawled out like I have witnessed in other gyms) and also the rolling is 10/10 you will be treated with respect but you will get back what you put out. There are some serious monsters in here so don't come in with a big ego trying to prove yourself or you will be humbled. It's a family here and I'm proud to be apart of it.
Great place for fitness and learning some skills!
Came here for a couple weeks to train while was down for work. Everyone here is wonderful! I learned a few new moves that we haven’t gone over at my gym in Washington. Surprised a few guys🤣! Thanks for the great time! I will be back again! Dan from Roy Washington
I trained with (head coach) Andrew Alexander 2014-2015. Andrew helped me from day 1 beginner to blue belt, and continued to coach me at local tournaments and inspire me through his progress for years after I moved to Portland. He instilled a competitive camaraderie in the room that I am thankful for to this day. He truly laid the foundation of what it means to be a high level practitioner & coach. I am now a black belt and gym owner. 😊 If you are brand new, or looking for a place to test your skills this is the gym for you. It might just change your life!!!
I've had such a great experience coming into this gym and feeling so welcome. I really can't imagine going to a different place.
Friendly atmosphere, highly level instructors, perfect for beginners and advanced students.
This gym's awesome. I've been coming for several years. It's always been good and it keeps getting better. Head coach Andrew is both a great coach and competitor and the gym culture is super supportive. They have a great schedule with classes at 6am, 11am, 6pm, and 7pm. They recently expanded their schedule so that the 6am class is 5 days a week. The 6am class has been a life saver for me, not sure how much I'd be training without it. The 6am classes are led by Joaquin and Kellin, who are great coaches with their own styles and a lot of knowledge to offer. I'm always riding high when I leave the gym in the morning. Family friendly too, with a kids class, and some women only classes. Give it a try, it's transformed my life for the better.
I started December 23rd, 2022. I've never done any martial art or wrestling and was super intimidated at first but everything was awesome the coaches and the people here are super friendly and supportive. After training for 4 and a half months of I was able to get a gold medal in competition! If you're looking to get into jiu-jitsu this is the place to go.
Introduce yourself to the gentle art of jiu jitsu in a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Andrew Alexander is a dedicated coach giving each of his students the highest level of instruction. Andrew's technical knowledge of the art is deep and he is always willing to teach to the individual. Your training partners come from all walks of life, from business owners to psychologists to people you would never suspect of being real "hands on" with the art of violence. Jiu jitsu is a long and difficult journey but is more fun with like minded warriors working to make you better. If you want to simply learn jiu jitsu, stop by and take the 6pm fundamentals classes. If you want to get as good at jiu jitsu as you can, build off of the skills learned in the fundamentals classes and learn from a professor that still competes in the 11am and 7pm intermediate and advanced classes. Do you prefer simulated murder with your coffee? Join the 6am crew. Are you a Thunderdome type savage? Make sure to come to the 7pm Thursday competition preperation night. Whatever classes you choose, you will grow with a team that will challenge you everyday and training partners that won't allow for complacency. When you are ready to transform yourself into the man or woman you know you can be, come join 10th Planet Grants Pass and begin your journey of jiu jitsu.
I love this gym! As a 26 year old out of shape female I was super nervous to start something like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but it was something I had always wanted to do. All the coaches where super welcoming and I have had nothing but respectful interactions with all the guys and gals here. They make you feel like a friend and a fellow athlete. 100% recommend trying it out! Just be warned you may become obsessed.
Awesome nogi jujitsu gym. Top notch black belt and instructors. Based on what I've seen and heard it's easily the best quality in the Rogue Valley. Great people too!
World class instruction and friendly training partners. Great place to train!
Coach Andrew is one of the top competitors in Oregon. Despite being a total killer, his gym is very very welcoming and friendly. Perfect if you are brand new to martial arts or are looking to push your limits. I can't recommend this place enough!
Great gym. Atmosphere is really nice and the people I’ve interacted with have been great. Andrew is a really great teacher, and he does a great job at always saying hi when you come into the gym and making sure to break things down in a way everyone can learn. I have learned a lot of small details I have been missing and it has a lot to do with the way he breaks things down. Grateful for this place!
Amazing gym with some of the best Jiu Jitsu you’ll find, anywhere. Andrew is an elite black belt who competes in the biggest tournaments in the world and has a team of killers right behind him.
Come here and train. Get your rounds in. Drop in, or do a monthly membership. No question about it. Go train.
Great coach (Andrew) and Team! They will push you to the next level, with awesome technique! Update..... after being apart of this team for 5 years, I can now say good friends and even better instruction and ever evolving techniques to be ahead of the curve.
I had to travel to Grants Pass for a work trip and wanted to get some training in. Everyone was very welcoming and the instruction was awesome. I left with a few techniques and bunch of details that I have been able to implement immediately. Coach Andrew was a great guy and I will definitely buy again next time I'm in town. Thank you!
Good stuff ,fire rounds, great family atmosphere
World Class Competitor and Coach, Andrew Alexander leads the way for the toughest and most welcoming group of submission grapplers this side of the Mississippi ! Great children's program as well.
When you enter the doors at 10th Planet Grants Pass you quickly realize what all the hype is about. Solid group of people perfecting their craft of jiu jitsu.
Amazing gym! If you live close, this is the place to be for learning jijitsu. Andrew the coach/owner is constantly competing at a high level and does a great job at teaching the the full spectrum of jijitsu. They have a great group of members that help push your game to the next level. Wish I could have started here earlier!
You will be nothing short of impressed coming into the jujistu world Andrew Alexander has created here in Grants Pass. The highest level of coaching, with teammates who will guide you through as a beginner, and keep pushing you to advance. Jujitsu is the most fun thing I do, and this is hands down the best place to train.
Great gym. I've been here almost a year, lost 40 pounds and have developed a good knowledge base.
Love this place. All levels from no experience to competition training. The owners are just plain good people too. Andrew will push you if want to compete, but he understands if your just thier tp train, have fun and learn.
I've been training here since the old location. I got my purple belt through Andrew in February of 2019. Andrew just got his black belt through Eddie Bravo, every class but the women's class is taught by him. He competes often at a high level and wins using technique he shows in class. Andrew has coached me at every tournament I have competed in and has been super present in building my game from zero experience to purple belt. The mats are cleaned well consistently. I have never gotten ringworm or staph from training here. The people here are good at making sure no-one walks barefoot off the mats and that people cut their nails. There's classes three times a day Monday - Friday for a variety of levels. The fundamentals at six has no live rolling and is easy to dip into but can be a good workout if you drill hard. The atmosphere is relaxed, unless we are doing comp specific training on Thursdays for advanced class. I've seen a lot of people lose fat training, even beginners just doing advanced. 10th planer grants pass is hands down the best jiu jitsu in the Rogue Valley.
My kid has learned a lot in a short time. Great instructors and very reasonably priced.
Fundamentals class is perfect for beginners or getting back into training and advanced am/pm classes are phenomenal. The people and coaches are super chill: best part of my day is training here
Great classes, easy to jump in, high level coaching that never leaves you feeling you can’t do it. Andrew and his team are world class! They’ve created a environment that allows even the newest person to succeed with hard work, patients and a strong community of Jiu Jitsu lovers. I highly recommend.
Great atmosphere and world class coaching Good wholesome family fun
Super welcoming gym with great people. 10th planet is a great place for anyone wanting to start learning!
Best gym in oregon by far. Andrew is a great teacher and the people at the gym are like family.
Andrew Alexander has an incredible school here. Was passing through coming out from Boston and dropped in. This was my first experience walking into a gym while traveling out of state so I was definitely nervous. You always wonder how friendly a gym will be or if they'll even welcome you to train on the spot at all. Andrew asked for a minimal drop in fee and let me train with his team all day. His ability to teach and communicate moves is outstanding and I would highly recommend checking this gym out to anyone who gets a chance.
Hands down best gym I've trained at in 3 countys. You won't find better instruction or better technique
This is the best gym locally for “sport” jiu jitsu. A lot of what is being taught and pushed here does not carry over well to real life scenarios and the culture of this gym does not care. High emphasis on wearing gym bought tights, being a good “yes” man and scissoring dudes. Low emphasis on scoring takedowns and maintaining dominant position. A purple belt instructor here that was working as a prison guard reached out to me on Facebook messenger about help doing something weird. Not really knowing this guy - I advised him next I saw him that it’s not smart/safe communication, he didn’t take it well and I have since been banned from the gym. …fall in line or else 🙃 The new space is huge, the mat space isn’t.
