Jackson is one of the main BJJ competition stops in Mississippi, with events in the city and nearby Pearl and Madison. The AGF Jackson Open and AGF Jackson Championships are the most regular tournaments, and NEWBREED runs summer and spring championships here. The Mississippi State Grappling Federation and the Grapple Nights series, which includes trios and prize pool events, also hold competitions locally.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are both common, and around one in five events includes kids divisions or an absolute division. August is the busiest month, followed by March and November.
